Thank you for your feedback. That is not accurate. The gentleman who won the House of Assembly seat in Abia State on the platform of the Labour Party is named Anthony Chinasa. He has denied that he is Yoruba multiple times.

According to an interview he granted to Channels Television, he said his nickname is Abiola. And that his opponent in the election printed posters with the name Abiola Chinasa to make the electorate turn against him because they would think he is Yoruba. He had to tour the communities in his constituency to tell them that he has no connection with Yorubas otherwise he would have lost that election.

The most closed region to other ethnicities in Nigeria is, sadly, the Southeast. Lagos State alone has over 30 Igbos elected or appointed into government. The highest ranking Igbo in the Presidential Villa under Buhari, Ben Akabueze, was nominated by Tinubu ti fill a slot for Lagos State. Prior to that, Mr Akabueze was the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget of Lagos State. The Southwest as a region has over 50 Igbos elected or appointed into government at various levels.

The entire North has tens of Igbos elected and appointed into government.

But in the entire Southeast, I am not sure there is a non-Igbo appointed or elected into government. If any Northerner is appointed, it may be appointment as gatemen or security, if that at all . Even when President Bola Tinubu tried to appease the Southeast by making Emmanuel Ikechukwu Oglala the Chief of Naval Staff, many Igbos complained that he was a non-Igbo speaking Igbo. I am almost fifty years old, and that was the first time in my life I heard of the term 'non-Igbo speaking Igbo'.
