Yahaya Bello: EFCC Withdraws Alleged Fraud Case At Appeal Court by Dapromzy333(m): 8:37pm On Apr 24
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has made the decision to drop its lawsuit against Yahaya Bello, the embattled former governor of Kogi State, in the Court of Appeal.

The EFCC said the notice of withdrawal is predicated on the fact that the application filed has been overtaken by the decision of the Kogi State High Court.

This was made known in court application filed on Tuesday at the Court of Appeal Abuja judicial division by J. S. Okutepa, SAN and others on behalf of the Commission.

The commission said the subject of the appeal has been determined by the Kogi High Court Judge, Justice Jamil J. on April 17, 2024.

The EFCC, therefore, told the court that the notice of appeal was filed out of time and now pray that the appeal be struck out for being filed out of time and incompetent.

Platinum Times reported that the EFCC, on Tuesday stepped up its bid to prosecute the ex-Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello for alleged misappropriation of public funds.

Bello has also been declared wanted by the EFCC, and is alleged to have stolen about N80 billion from the Kogi treasury.

I doubt this account or report is accurate; read the headline of the news again and read the title of the court document itself, you will get more confused...

I no dey follow all these yeye media houses jere, make I wait for better journalists to report

DMerciful:
All these media outlets in support of Bello, trying to mislead the public.

EFCC had appealed the Kogi State high Court decision for Bello not to be arrested and prosecuted. However, since the federal high court has made a ruling for substituted service, the EFCC does not need the physical presence of Bello hence withdrawing the appeal because it has been taken over by events.

Yahaya Bello will be prosecuted and jailed!
The main court case involving his prosecution is still on and it's adjourned to May where Bello is expected to appear or face a bench warrant!

Yeah, I suspect the emboldened

I don't understand the write up. Is it that EFCC have forgiven yahaya Bello or the case was just withdrawn from appeal court?

That doesn't mean yahaya Bello will not be arrested right?

EFCC chairmen keep doing the same thing. Arrest and medial trial before establishing good and solid evidence to nail the culprits.

CASE WAS NOT WITHDRAWN......CASE WENT TO TWO COURTS.

DUPLICITY WAS INFERRED. IT WAS WITHDRAWN FROM ONE COURT.

ALLOWING THE OTHER COURT TO SUPERSEDE AND PRESIDE.

YAHYA BELLO IS STILL WANTED AND WILL BE ARRESTED ON SIGHT.

ONCE HE COMES OUT OF HIDING.

YAHYA BELLO IS DOING A THIRD TERM AS KOGI STATE GOVERNOR.
