Greatconcept12: If you want that kind of subsidy, your government would be spending over half, if not 70% of your budget on subsidy alone. And to replace the money, government would borrow and borrow and borrow. Landing cost of fuel is now N1000. To keep fuel at N165, government would need to spend N800 per liter at least in subsidy. Plus, fuel is above N1000 in many of our neighbours. That means smuggling...and that means consumption will go up to 90 Million liters per day. DO the math. 5 Likes 4 Shares |

Putindbutt:. If you be bank and give an individual loan for a specific project, won't you monitor the spending to ensure that it is in ligne with what they requested the loan for? Because if you no monitor and advise the individual periodically then he will use the loan waywardly and won't be able to reimburse the loan as agreed. So the IMF is monitoring the Nigerian economy so that them no go default on the loan they collected from the World Bank. 3 Likes |

mactoni91: Buhari didn't want Tinubu. He was the brain behind Ahmed Lawan candidacy at last minute to Garner Northern support when it was obvious El Rufai and co won't back down on supporting Tinubu. Initially he refused to be attending Tinubu election campaigns even though his wife was. It was when people started to tongue lash him that he was being an ingrate after Tinubu supported him to win election two times that he reluctantly started attending . Īf Nigeria has her own refineries all this issue about subsidy removal on petrol will not arise. We sell crude oil to foreign refineries abroad at OPEC price in dollar and buy the refined products back with high foreign exchange at a costly price back with all forms of taxes. This is why fuel is costly.Imf cannot give good advice. 1 Like 1 Share |

Chicagograduate: We can only have our own refinereis if we remove subsides completely and allow the market set the price of fuel...which would make refining profitable in Nigeria, and would make people go into refining since they can make a profit. Plus banks and other financial institutions would be willing to lend any investor money to build refineries. SO that dangote does not have all the fun . 1 Like |

Some people are insulting the IMF, have they asked themselves how much Nigeria borrows from the IMF, un, Christian fund, arab bank, eu, brics, asia bank, nato, private people, single countries, etc but we have the useless mouth to talk about them when they are concerned about the chronic financial irresponsibility, that Nigeria exhibits on a yearly basis. 4 Likes |
