Prices of everyday items has jumped 7 folds and idiots are asking for 100k. We can see that if the people weren't stupid they can never have a govt that will keep taking them for fools

Why ask for 615K naira in the first place?

You gave these government officials chance to take you as jokers.
So you don't know what bargaining means?

Last last...

All these back and forth will most likely stopped at NGN 65,000... Which is the addition of the current minimum wage of NGN 30,000 and wage award increase of NGN 35,000 the FGN and some states have been paying.

Na so e go be

In Kwara State, #30k minimum wage only favoured level 1-6, the government only did consequential adjustment for level 7 and above (#10k)

I don’t think the FG will agreed with 100k but 70k cos they would rather pay bogus money to the politicians and be shouting the country than pay workers well and reduce workers corruption. Then again the new minimum wages will bring inflation and I don’t think this is what the country needs at the present time.
are we not in inflation already

is it salary to meet up that would bring inflation or the naira Tinubu floated thats causing it

Oga import cost due to naira and fuel cost due to naira are what causing it

They should make it 170k so FG settles at 150k

On a serious note, a high minimum wage is good only in countries where the unemployment rate is low and economy is good with stable energy. That way, a very high percentage of the citizens will benefit and be better for it. But in a country like ours, make the minimum wage 100k and the next thing that will follow is companies going on retrenchment spree, thereby shooting the unemployment rate to over 50%.

Remember that everyone go to the same market and if the gap is too wide, those that will suffer will be more than those that will enjoy. Inflation is also there to consider.

IMO, the labour should shift further while the government also does better to arrive at something reasonable but not all these figures they're mentioning.

But take it, I don't see 100k happening, at least not this time.

Most people don't seem to understand this. They don't know how inflation works.

What state are you from n is that state able to pay the old minimum wage of ₦30K ? Note Anambra is not able to yet. God forbid you are from that state or supporting a former cursed governor from that state as president of Nigeria.

I really don't know why I find labour's demand funny grin. Maybe because the union has been a joke in recent time. Nobody takes them serious again
This is one respect I'll always have for Oshiomole, labour was a force while he was in charge. These ones are just child's play.

baba market women no even get that luxury again

it was in pdp era where sellers dey do shakara and induce cost

Now you dont even have buyers again, if you manage fit cover transport inflated cost and market cost you go happy for small profit

look at lacasera and egg roll when poor man go just buy with ₦500 then on roadside, now that business don die, now you need to bring the highest currency in the land and still add join to buy snack

A minimum wage of 100k is good, bros. My concern is the impact this pay rise will have on goods and services....the prices of everything will rocket now. That means those who don't benefit from this pay rise will pay the heavy price for it.

That said, the government must ensure private sector pays any minimum wage they agree. That's how the law works in every serious country. The national minimum wage cannot be 100k and some private companies will be paying graduates 50k in these crazily hard times.

Na 70k them still dey go... Federal government has announced the new minimum wage increase since the day Lagos state government 70k as a minimum wage to Lagos state workers... All this labour and FG committee members brouhaha na formalities

Once you tell FG 100k they’ll aim for a number below it. You should have stayed high until they came higher too
