debosky: More stories emerging about the crazy demands that RVP made:

He demanded a £5m loyalty bonus, plus £13m a year, a new right back, a new centreback, and his own Dutch physio shipped in to work with him full-time, paid for by the club! Apparently asking for more money than Yaya T was earning at Citeh.

RVP dictating who the club signs? So glad Arsene told him to GTFO.

What a douche, how many people here can tell their bosses how to run his own business. He was indirectly insulting his own players (Sagna and all our CB's were not good enough)
These footballers don't have any respect, wish him all the best but i'm sure glad to see the back of him, thanks for the goals but good ridance.

Thomas Vermaelen and Mikael Arteta confirmed as new captain and vice captain. cool

Boss says Song may be on his way out. . . . .but we are 'tracking' Sahin.

£15m for the best player in the league? i would be ashamed to be an arsenal fan! shevchenko was £30m when chelsea signed him @ age 30 and he wasn't even the best striker in italy then! you miked nothing - instead of milk, you got sweat and a bit of fecal matter! grin

I suspect as much, otherwise Song would have been the vice captain. But congrats to Verminator and Mikel. Well deserved!

Bring on Sunderland for tomorrow! cool

Utd trying to downplay the price they paid. . . . typical. The upfront fee is £22.5m, believe the lies if you will.

Sheva won CLs, titles, European player of the year. . . .what has RVP won?

Your comparisons are getting dafter by the minute.

Since Arsene has come out to say this, Sahin deal is done. Arsene doesn't openly mention a player he's yet to sign cos he complains about it when someone else does same for his team. #myopinion

the initial payment is £15m - ask arsene wenger!
so sheva won leagues and champions league at the age of 30 when chelsea signed him? if your team is not filled with mediocre players, van persie would have won plenty too but you are asking a lot if you expect one world class player and 10 sankwas to win a league title. van persie got arsenal to the 3rd position singlehandedly - that alone is enough for fergie(the greatest club football manager) to sign robin!

but wait o .. i thought wenger said no bid for song yet?

Arsène Wenger has yet to decide whether Alex Song will stay at Arsenal this season.

The Cameroon midfielder has been linked with a move to Barcelona but his manager insists that no bid has been received for the 24-year-old.

"This decision is not made," said Wenger at his pre-match press conference. "No [bid has been made] and I cannot tell you more.

"I don't know [about Song] at the moment, my focus is more on tomorrow's game.

Whats with the sell sell sell, for all i know Song never asked to leave the club so why is this rubbish being entertained.

I'm in no objection to him leaving but its a bit late to be selling vital players only to replace them with EPL untested players. Wenger should sort this Song thing out asap, whats the effing point selling your best players, especially those who have not expressed a desire to leave.

The upfront payment is £22.5m with 1.5m in add ons - that's from the BBC which broke the news of the signing with details of what transpired during the negotiations. Fergie has now confirmed that he did need to speak with Arsene to get the deal done.

This is what Fergie said:

"I can't elaborate but it was amicable. Arsene knew the boy wanted to leave. He knew he wanted to join us. That made it a bit easier but not in terms of trying to reduce the fee. He (Wenger) could run a poker school in Govan. He got a great price but we are also happy the matter is concluded. From the starting position when we first started negotiating, Arsene has done well."

We all know the initial bid was £15m, so for that to have moved ahead, Utd paid more . Not too important really - the deal is done.

As for the inane comparison with Sheva, Sheva scored 19 goals in his penultimate season before joining Chelski - his average over the past couple of seasons easily exceeded 20 goals a season, without the injury baggage. More importantly he had THREE years left on his deal before moving. If you don't appreciate that important difference, quit now and go back to scavenging. grin

How did you confirm this?

It now seems Wenger considers the Ox to be a midfield player now. . . .

. . . and Oxlade-Chamberlain now plays central midfield.

Alex Song is gone for between £15m to £20m

Sahin coming in bt RM want him at 'Pool while Sahin wants Arsenal (Chmp Lge team)
#dramacontinues

By the way, Song may not be fielded tomorrow due to a 'little knock' grin grin according to Monsieur Wenger
Meanwhile, Kos and Chamberlain are out of tomorow's game

Nice to hear the OX will play central midfield, he impressed there during pre season. As for Song, he can go. I have never liked him. His defensive indiscipline probable cost us more goal than he assisted. As a DM Coquelin>Song imho.

Read somewhere(can't remember where) Squillaci is going. The only thing i don't understand is; WHAT IS CHAMAKH(not sure if spelt right) DOING IN THIS SQUAD!?!

But truly speaking, Wenger has really lost the plot this season. Chamakh, Bendtner, Arshavin, are still in that team, and this old man is selling off the players who contributed immensely to us qualifying for Champions league this season! Wtf!

@ Pataki

Dunno why fans like repeating statements like 'so and so is still in the squad'. . . do you expect Wenger to force them unto other clubs?

Till someone offers something for those players and those players agree with what is offered (salary wise) then they won't go anywhere. The only players easy to ship off are those at the end of their contracts - you simply tell them to pack their bags and go.

The fact is that it is difficult to shift unwanted players - let's hope more of them can be moved out to join Bartley and Vela off the books.

bbc is chatting shyte. upfront payment of £22.5m? for who?
this is the correct details concerning van persie's move:

United are understood to have agreed a £15m downpayment for last season’s Footballer of the Year and Players’ Player — who scored 30 Premier League goals for last season. That will rise to £24m depending on appearances.

We all know the initial bid was £15m, so for that to have moved ahead, Utd paid more . Not too important really - the deal is done.

we are not talking bid here, we are talking the amount united paid into arsenal's bank account this week. the 15m would rise to £24m depending on titles, appeareances, etc. united have their arses covered.

As for the inane comparison with Sheva, Sheva scored 19 goals in his penultimate season before joining Chelski - his average over the past couple of seasons easily exceeded 20 goals a season, without the injury baggage. ohhh, shut up!
sheva scored 19 goals in his penultimate season before joining chelsea? van persie scored 22 goals in 33 apps in his penultimate season, he scored 37 goals in 48 apps last season.....you have to be a saphead not to think united got him on a bargain @ £15m. shevchenkp at £30m in 2006? if you fixed £30m deposit in a bank in 06, how much would it be now, debosky? you are a tool!
