we have 2 home games that we must win.
Starting with Newcastle, I want to see Mari in a 3 man defence cos we must attack and attack. Full back won't be bad to support the attack.
Leno
Mustafi luiz Mari
Bellerin Kola/saka
Xhaka Lucas
Ozil/ ceballos
Auba martinelli
352
This will allow us have options on bench with laca,Pepe,Jerry curl etc

And P.S United are a top club. An underperforming one, but still.

yeah everyone understands it's a ridiculous news.

I understand that man u are underperforming for the past few seasons now, so also is arsenal. But I want to ask, and I need a sincere answer.

Let's assume saka plays the wing that you guys lack, do you think you guys still have that pull to pry him away from us, just as you did van persie?

As honest as I can put it, our project is attractive on financial terms and the prospects of being amongst those who rejuvenate the fallen giant.

If that is deemed attractive by Saka, then fine.

I personally don't think we have the pull we used to have. Almost everyone will pick winning trophies over being part of a rebuild.

Mikel Arteta is back in England - and back in front of the media.

Our head coach discussed our recent training camp in Dubai, as well as updates on Pablo Mari, Cedric, Bukayo Saka and more at his press conference ahead of the Newcastle game.

Read on for a full transcript:

on what we were working on in Dubai…

It was like a mini pre-season for us in Dubai, we had time to work on a lot of our principles: how we want to set up against different formations, the relevant things we need to work on [both] on and off the ball and apart from that it was great to be together and spend some time together, get to know each other, not just the players but the staff and the backroom staff as well. It was a very productive trip.

on maintaining the players' morale…

We take it game by game. The input, the work ethic and the commitment they have been having through training and games has been really good. They know how crucial it is going to be in the next three to four weeks and until the end of the season. They are very aware of that and have a really good mindset towards that, they are highly motivated.

on Pablo Mari’s fitness…

Pablo has not competed since the end of December I think, he had a little issue, but he has been training with us the last week or so, in and out a little bit, but he has been looking good. I think this game will come a little bit too early for him but I expect him to start joining the squad in the next week or so.

on Cedric…

He is very disappointed because when you join a new club you want to make an impression straight away. He had an issue in his knee, it is not completely healed yet and he hasn’t been training with us so I expect him to be back in the next couple of weeks but I can’t give you a date.

on Kieran Tierney…

He is doing very good progress but we need to wait for the bone and the attachment to the tendon to heal before he can make any contact. He has been training, his work ethic is incredible, I have been really impressed with him so hopefully we can get him back soon but we need to be a little bit patient with him.

on whether we achieved he wanted during the winter break…

I wanted to give them a few days rest because they went through a lot of things in the last few months. After that, we reflected on what we did together in the last five or six weeks since I joined, the things we improved and are very positive and we have to maintain, and also the things we need to improve and develop. We worked really well, we agreed and set some targets and we have started to work on them and hopefully we can see the outcome in the next few weeks.

on planning for the summer and if he's started to plan already...

Absolutely. We have to plan and we need to know the direction we want to head and with that we need to bear in mind different scenarios and with that in mind, I have to tell the club what we need, where we think we can improve and where we want to end. And if we all end with the same thing, we put a plan together to try and execute it and make the process as short as possible.

on the coronavirus outbreak and what precautions are being taken...

We have great doctors here and people who are looking after our health. They've been putting a plan together to try and keep everybody in safe hands and we have some protocols that we have to respect within the training ground. But as far as I know, everything is under control but we have to be very aware.

on Bukayo Saka and whether we're trying to sign him to a new contract...

I am really happy with how they [young players] are developing. Part of that developing is to improve the contract and to tie them to the club. But that has to follow a natural process. We have Edu, we have Raul, Vinai and Huss who are in charge of that and I am sure we will do the right thing when players deserve to improve and extend their contracts.

on whether scoring goals or not conceding goals is more important to him...

It's winning. Obviously, that game for the crowd [the 7-3 against Newcastle] is great but for the manager it's not

Mikel Arteta says our planning for the summer transfer window starts now.

There may be months to go until we can officially add to our squad, but our head coach says it's important to identify targets as quickly as possible.

"We have to plan and we need to know the direction we want to head in and we need to bear in mind different scenarios," Arteta said.

"I have to tell the club what we need, where we think we can improve and where we want to end. And if we all end with the same thing, we put a plan together to try and execute it and make the process as short as possible."

Arteta was also asked about Bukayo Saka's contract situation, and he is confident the club will address it.

"I am really happy with how the [young players] are developing," he said. "Part of that development is to improve the contract and to tie them to the club.

"But that has to follow a natural process. We have Edu, we have Raul, Vinai and Huss who are in charge of that and I am sure we will do the right thing when players deserve to improve and extend their contracts."

Our warm-weather training camp in Dubai gave Mikel Arteta the perfect opportunity to assess his squad - and Kieran Tierney certainly made a big impression.

The Scotland international is working hard to return to full fitness after dislocating his right shoulder against West Ham in December, and our head coach likes what he sees from the left back.

"He is making very good progress but we need to wait for the bone and the attachment to the tendon to heal before he can make any contact," Arteta said.

"He has been training, his work ethic is incredible, I have been really impressed with him so hopefully we can get him back soon but we need to be a little bit patient with him.

"It was like a mini pre-season for us in Dubai," he added. "We had time to work on a lot of our principles: how we want to set up against different formations, the relevant things we need to work on [both] on and off the ball.

"Apart from that, it was great to be together and spend some time together, get to know each other, not just the players but the staff and the backroom staff as well. It was a very productive trip.

Well...thanks for this honest answer. What you gave is the reason why we all think issa rumor, not because you guys are stocked on the left wing...but because you guys are almost in the same ship as us. So even if it's martinelli(for example) you guys might wanna tempt, I don't see it working out, cos that pull factor you guys have is waning...

Sead Kolasinac
Available for selection following left thigh strain.

Pablo Mari
In full training following transfer from Brazilian pre-season. Aiming to be available for selection for Olympiacos (a).

Reiss Nelson
Available for selection following right hamstring strain.

Bukayo Saka
Available for selection after being substituted during Burnley (a) following knock to right leg.

Cedric Soares
Left knee. Progressing well with gym work. Aiming to be in full training by the end of February.

Kieran Tierney
Right shoulder. Dislocated right shoulder during West Ham Utd (a) on December 9. Good progress being made in rehabilitation process and has commenced participation in group training sessions. Aiming to be in back in full training by the end of February.

Calum Chambers
Left knee. Ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Chelsea (h) on December 29. Successful surgery completed. Rehabilitation process expected to take between six to nine months.

Hopefully, everyone should be fit by mid march, because that will be the period when we need the numbers, and with the suspension of man city, I believe that things has just gotten interesting.

Chukwueze: Cazorla confirms calls from Arsenal over in-demand Villarreal winger

The 35-year-old has affirmed the Emirates Stadium outfit have made an enquiry on the talented Super Eagles forward

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed he received calls from the Gunners over a potential summer transfer of Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

The highly-rated Nigeria international has been in fine form since his promotion to the first team of the Yellow Submarine in 2018, which has seen him attract interests from a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

During the January transfer window, Villarreal reportedly turned down a €35million offer from the Reds for the 20-year-old.

Cazorla, currently a teammate of Chukwueze after leaving the Gunners in 2018, explained his former club have made enquiries on the forward as well as centre-back Pau Torres.

“They [Arsenal] ask me about them and think they can make the jump to the Premiership tomorrow,” he told Marca.

“It’s good that great teams are interested in young players from Villarreal, but for the moment I tell them to leave them alone here.

“They still have to take steps forward. They both have a great personality, and their feet are on the ground.”

This season, the £60million-rated winger has scored four goals and provided four assists amid other dazzling displays.

Chukwueze will be expected to be on parade when Villarreal slug it out with Levante in Saturday’s La Liga game.

Question

What should happen to MIKEL ARTETA should ARSENAL fail to secure the 9 maximum points at home in the next 3 home matches in the EPL vs Newcastle-16 February, Everton-23 February and West Ham United-march 7?

Note: in between them are Europa league match vs olympiacos-20 February and FA cup match vs Portsmouth-2 March.

Both away from home

He should be paid his salary as required and he should still be the head coach next year.

He was not signed to comman be counting number of games won/lost. He was signed to re-work our football philosophy, re-model the team as a whole and make us great again......All these of course takes time.
