So if a poor performing player doesn't have any other clubs interested in him, its more logical to renew his contract than to let the contract run till its end. That's stwpid. No one is saying he should have been sold, the bone of contention here is whether renewing his contract is justifiable.

I'm not in support of his contract renewal, I'm only trying to give a different perspective.

Djorou was never 'one of the best performing CBs in the league'. His purple patch last season was commendable only by Arsenal standards (TV5 was injured we had a very shaky looking defense).

This is silly, Djourou was one of the best performing CBs by any standard. If i recall correctly Arsenal were actually in the top two/three throughout that period so i don't know how bad "Arsenal standard" could've been.

Renewing his contract regardless of how much he earned or earns is a very indefensibly wrong decision as Djorou is worse than any other 4th/5th choice CBs in any of the top 4 teams.

I coulda sworn Djourou is in around the same bracket as Chalobah, Coates, Savic, etc and possibly edges them on experience, but as usual your default assumption is the grass is always greener over the hedge.

D Day has come. I hope we don't get humiliated today cos that'll really piss the fans present at the Emirates off. Spurs are meant to be beaten at the Emirates but we cannot say we have the team to earn that atm. Defence is strong in Gibbs/Kos/TV5/Sagna but with our poor midfield (Song looking out of form, Ramsey and Arteta not being so good) and attack being nearly a one-man thing.
Spurs look the likelier to carry the day with a stronger but its football and we are the Arsenal -
a team capable of anything imaginable.

Wages of 76 players on Arsenal payroll
By Myles Palmer

A document came my way on Friday.

Showed it to six friends.

Not sure about its provenance. It could be accurate but a bit out of date.

Obviously, Armand Traore has since left the club. That's one thing I noticed. Saw Traore today, actually. We went to QPR and Traore came on late and played very well.

But Fulham won 1-0 against 10 men.

Obviously, you could write a book about the above.

My verdict?

Only Wenger.

Only Wenger in the entire history of world football could do this.

His ideas are not appropriate to a club of Arsenal's size.

A workaholic and a polymath, Wenger did 30 years work in 16 years to build Arsenal up to the point where it got too big for him and he was doing far too many jobs and had far too much power.

Arsenal outgrew Arsene as he pursued his obsession with kids, which failed and failed and failed again. But still he kept adding to his gigantic squad of overpaid youngsters who will never make a career at this club.

What a fantastic and incredible farce ! He's done so much damage.

You could not make it up.

Wenger refused to buy him. I guess he always wants to showoff (to Wenger) whenever there's a derby.

He needs to drop one striker for a midfielder. Its making Arsenal dominate the midfieldwith more men in there

Amusing. Y do I like punishment like dis?
Why am I watching this?

When u watch this team, u begin to think there is truth in those claims that there is no defensive coaching or training in this team. That was the third time that situation that resulted in the pen happened.

Wenger is truly a miracle worker o.

Per's loss' had a bigger impact than i thought.Forget the noise about his lack of pace,he sees the problem before it happened. The gaping hole in that defense is ludicrous.Vermaleen plays like someone who's forgotten how to man the CB position and gets pulled out easily,Kos seem to have lost his composture since his 'twin' brother got injured.

This team needs Chelsea to lose his cojones totally to qualify for 4th position.

With any luck Spurs start a terrible decline to ensure we celebrate St Totteringham day this year.  cool
