Nairaland Politics Section Hall Of Fame/shame - 2011 Induction by Jarus(m): 9:54am On Dec 05, 2011
Ladies and Gentlemen,
If you recall last year, we started our maiden edition of Nairaland Politics Section Hall of Fame/Shame.
It's in 2 phases - nomination and voting. At the end of the process, Nairalanders inducted MR SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI into its HALL OF FAME and THE CABAL(you remember them?) into its HALL OF SHAME:

Here are the threads for the exercise:
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-565376.32.html#msg7353190
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-570031.0.html
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-570036.0.html

This year we are inducting 2 more people, one into each category:

SOME CRITERIA:
-The person must be a Nigerian
-He must be a public figure or political personality
-His wrong or bad doing must have been discussed on Nairaland Politics Section here
-The outstanding/shameful act must have been done in 2011. So pls don't tell us you are nominating IBB because he kiled Dele Giwa or you are nominating Nuhu Ribadu because he arrested Tafa Balogun.
-No arbitrariness please. Tell us what he/she did to deserve the nomination and back up with link or past thread.

STAGE 1: Nomination (5-19 December, 2011)
STAGE 2: Poll for the top 3 nominated (19-31 December, 2011)

Please let's bolden our nominations for ease of compiling.

Start nominating.

Hall of Fame
Chinua Achebe: For looking beyond the glittery diamond served by an extremely rotten hand, and showing us once more that dignity is what really matters in life. This he demonstrated by bluntly, albeit politely, turning down the National Award offered by Jonathan and the Federal Government for their failure to really stand up to their real responsibilities, which comprise the safety of the people among many others.

Hall of Shame
The one and only Reuben Abati: Oh, who would have guessed that this man would become the very thing he blasted all these years? Selling out is one thing; and ultimately killing off the people's faith in the integrity of news columnists is another. I think Mr. Abati single-handedly accomplished both, this year.
