Lie detector test (polygraph) is not a programming language and is an actual measure of physiological things beyond the control of 99.9% of people. Forget what you see in movies. The test measures the skin conductivity, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration during the test. A very simple test you can perform will be to see if you can lower or raise your blood pressure at will while seated? Can you also control your sweat glands before you start to sweat? How about your pulse?

At most, one can seek to make the results inconclusive and a trained technician can even detect attempts to manipulate the results.

What makes the results unreliable is when people are lying but think that they're telling the truth. For example, a crazy man running around claiming he's the messiah. He would probably pass the test when asked if he's the messiah or not because he believes he's telling the truth.

Cant we just give ourselves benefit of the doubt for once?  we have shot down the intiative even before we take-off, Na, wa, o.

Wether you believe it or not, there are still Nigerians in public service that will rather die than to soil their names.

And let the rubbish continue lie detectors polygraph on staff some are natural born liars they would naturally break the rules of the polygraph with baba ijebu just like baba suwe broke the naturality of a scanning machine "that's if he truly injested/carried drugs" like they say it takes a thief to catch a thief and that's why I believe the efcc officials are also criminals to have a better thought of the mind of a criminal corrupt person and corrupt civil servant Farida waziri was the wrongest person if the word exists to have been made efcc chairman and this is what it is costing us now

If Farida was inept at 75 high profle cases, then what was Ribadu's vaunted achievement? How many high profile cases could Ribadu prosecute, apart from the selective persecution of opponents of Obasanjo? How many federal government agencies could Ribadu investigate or touch?
This woman exposed a lot of dirty deals in the NERC, Police Equipment Fund, Aviation sector, Power,Health Ministry, she investigated and charged Iyabo Obasanjo and many others to court. Soemthing Ribadu could not dream to do in his 5 years.
Farida restructured to EFCC to an organisation that is not tied to the whims and caprices of the Chairman.

She performed well, and when she was leaving, she gave an account of on-going cases/prosecutions and handed over in a transparent manner witnessed by the press. Compare that to Rubadu who could not produce a single record of any of the governors after he had raised a false alarm that 31 governors were corrupt and he was only waiting for them to lose their immunity and charge them to court. He could not produce any records to back up his deceit.

That woman was better than Ribadu, even if she was not perfect!

Pennywise:

^^^The question is what was the return on investment in Farida's EFCC. Extremely very poor indeed. She was criminally inept and grossly unfit for task. What is 75 in a country where every government official is corrupt and tons of petition waiting to be investigated?

If Farida was inept at 75 high profle cases, then what was Ribadu's vaunted achievement? How many high profile cases could Ribadu prosecute, apart from the selective persecution of opponents of Obasanjo? How many federal government agencies could Ribadu investigate or touch?

Sarcoc:

I long to see the day we Nigerians would speak positively of an effort by an official to produce efficiency - I do not stand to say that our administrators are not corrupt however I must remind you all that their western counterparts are no saints either the only difference is that their subjects are far too advanced/patriotic to be seen speaking ill of them publicly. This should be our take too! It's called collective nation building for a purpose. Before posting any trend or comments on this site or any other PLEASE remember that it is open to the entire world and out here in the western world, opinions are being formed solely on the information that we have made available to them. Take the crippling credit crutch being battle with the western countries/ continent as an example - it loomed for many years but it was not common knowledge till it went out of hand; the scam of going to war in Iraq amongst a host of other poorly handled issues which are being kept quietly in other countries. Why then are we so quick to wash our dirty linen in public and sometimes prematurely?

I must finish by reminding all of the old adage - 'Towho much is given much is eexpected! If we do not give our leaders any credit especially upon newly assumption of office, how can we expect any credibility in return?

Hmm, And I suppose the officer(s) conducting the lie detection will be subject to lie detection to ensure the machine isn't lieing. Oops. Let's start by checking whether the pronouncement war a lie. Or perhaps the reporters were lieing. Hmm.

Naija public officials are immune to lie detectors so it's all make-believe not to talk of EFCC, even Lamorde would have no problem if performed on him because the machine itself would have been programmed to lie.

Is this not 9ja? I bet you they will steal the machine.

Waste of time in my own opinion. Polygraph test can be beaten if you can focus your mind while taking the test. What they need to do is follow up on hard evidence of corruption in high places.

By the time one or two big shots are thoroughly dealt with, sanity will naturally cascade though the ranks.

Lie detector test cannot be accurate and moreso it will be managed by human, so the issue of accuracy has been compromised.

Re: EFCC Under Ibrahim Lamorde: Lie Detector Test Every 6 Months by OLASODE2K: 6:32pm On Dec 14, 2011
the truth is that the polygraph test is not even admissible in western courts simply because it is less than 80% accurate. secondly, during this testing, we have seen innocent ppl were caught all because they lied for the wrong reasons. thirdly, fear has tripped this polygraph tests. fourthly, some ppl are so skilled in the act of even deceiving the machine. hence a much more reliable machine is being built. however, lamorde cant succeed in revamping efcc if he goes ahead with his determination to kick them out rather he base the polygraph results to assign sensitive assignments. only those who repeatedly pass the tests on five different occasions and those who fail likewise can be sack. that way u have achieved more than 400% accuracy. take heed, mr lamorde.
