hi everyone, its been quite an age that we chat together on stock market issues via this forum. Though i have been busy doing other things for myself, am back now to rob mind with my fellow finance savy pals on this land called NAIRA. i thank all those that sent me mails and quick recovery messages. i appreciate you guys. However, we should not allow this forum die a natural death like every nigerian govt policy and project . Are you intending to start your own biz or have a presentation before a bank or the dragons den, you really need to work diligently and passionately on your financial and cash projection to beat those guys. To achieve this, you need a PROFESSIONAL CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT to do this for you. contact rbo.partners@gmail.com, remmychess@yahoo.com or 08055628489. |

i appreciate all the gurus for their time and efforts in taken us to some sort of indepth understandin of what money mkt is. my question is how does does CSCS a/c works? Is devidend and bonus credit to CSCS a/c or otherwise? |
Re: Stock Market: Questions And Answers by kelvinkk: 11:47am On Nov 18, 2010 |
@ Bulwarkgold: the CSCS (cental security clearing system). is an electronic account being run by the federal government of nigeria, it takes account of every share holding in the nigerian stock exchange and it protects investors from fraudulent stockbrokers as you get sms alert on your phone for every activity that goes on in your account. you can only register through a stockbroker, you can buy directly from the market into your CSCS account but if you already own shares in certificate form, you can also de-materialize it into the electronic account. you'll pick the account opening form your stock broker, fill with the stock transfer from which will be sent to the registrar of the stock you are holding. it will then be credited into your CSCS account once you have been confirmed the rightful owner. Your bonus can also be credited to your CSCS acount once you fill the e-bonus form but your dividends will still be sent to you via mail to be paid into your bank account. i hope this will help. please feel free to ask more questions where you need clarification. |

This may have been covered as I have only read the first couple of pages on this thread but I have a tiny bit of info to add. The P/E ratio could be misleading depending upon the company and the business sector. For example a high PE leads one to believe that the price being multiples of the earnings may be telling us that the stock is over valued by the market. While a low PE may lead us to believe that the earnings are huge and the stock is a steal. Beware, these are simple indicators and should be used along with other information when making market decisions. An example is the tech bubble of the 90's wherein companies had huge PE's as within the stock price, the future earnings (as far as they can be calculated) of the company were included. So you had tech companies that had no profit but huge future profit potential thus high stock prices and huge PE's. Most of these assumptions were false and there was a market correction and prices fell BUT, some of those assumptions were not far off as many companies did and are living up to their potential. This can go the other was as a PE can be tiny and you think its a good thing but when you look at the company you may realize that there is a consumer buying fad in place and that success will likely fail. I like to always tell people to invest in what they know, as once you understand the language of the markets and you understand that brokers want you to trade so that they can get paid, you can make the best decisions about products, services and markets with which you are familiar. In America we are currently seeing an interesting market correction taking place with real estate. For years people have been buying overpriced homes with the expectation that someone dumber will come along and they can sell. But that is proving false and even with gov't intervention prices are still falling. |

Re: Stock Market: Questions And Answers by babyx(f): 11:42am On Dec 02, 2010 |
@234GT you will need a Current account to enjoy the e-divided provision, but some banks like Diamond Bank have a savings product that accepts cheques or warrants. 1 Like |

IS IT COMPULSORY TO HAVE A STOCKBROKER BEFORE ONE CAN OPEN A CSCS ACCOUNT? In other words, can someone who feels to have known enough in the stock business just walk into the cscs office to convert his shares certificates to cscs account? 1 Like |
