I've noticed that whenever I eat after 9pm upwards I usually feel very tired and sleepy most times I even sleep on the meal.

Just last night I prepared food and couldn't it until almost 10pm because I was busy. I was still eating the food when I started feeling dizzy and dozzed off. I woke up around past 1am this morning to find the food in front of me. I finish it sha.

I want to know if this is normal or it's a medical condition cos I'm already starting to get worried. Is anyone experiencing the same issue? Go for glucose test, cos I had the same problem I was sick June this year, and I was diagnosed of type2 diabetes but I have stop taking any sugary drinks,of any kind and my blood sugar levels normalises after 3months.we should watch what we eat or drink, pls always go for check up

Blood Sugar Spikes and Drops
If the meal is rich in carbs (like rice, pasta, or starchy foods), it could lead to a spike in blood sugar, followed by a drop, which might make you feel sleepy quickly.

Re: Is This Normal? by sonnie10:
Sleep disorder could lead to eating disorder and the reverse is also true. If not taken care of, they could result in physical medical conditions.
Sleep disorder could take different forms, it could be difficulty getting to sleep, staying asleep, or often sleepy.
With eating disorder one could experiment one or several challenges including loss of appetite, unable to eat, difficulty keeping down food, over eating, bench eating and voluntary vomiting.

See your health care provider for help.

I'm also like this. Not so sure it'd be a medical condition.

At any evening, after 6pm in fact, I get tired, I don't have the energy to eat anymore and postpone the food till dawn. And should I force myself, I would doze off after the first bite (e.g., I doze off even at noon over eating food like pounded yam, I chew it, so I know it's because of the energy).

At that time, I eat only healthy snacks like nuts and low-chewing fruits like watermelon and wait till dawn, or even till 11am depending if I'd rather eat low-chewing omelette and tea as breakfast instead.

Been like this for more than 8 years and it's not because of medical conditions, just low-energy to utilize my jaw to chew too much.

If you believe your condition may have medical underlining, check with your doctor or another doctor for second opinion.
low energy is definitely a medical condition. Have you seen how hyperactive a rat can be? A healthy man should be close to same. Eat balanced diet, avoid sugary processed foods, sleep at least 6hrs every night, exercise, quit porn&
masturbation (if you engage in it), then watch your life come back.

Carbonhydrate content is too high, your body is using all its energy to digest itz reduce the percentage, add more veg and protein

If you are 30+ or almost 30, it is the signs of the time. You are becoming older.

That said, try to eat before 9pm as it is medically advisable. I know it is not easy, but it would reduce the tiredness and prevent potbelly.

Eating after 7pm isn't good for your body. Give the body time to declutter what it's being fed since morning

You are probably a slow eater and after 9pm you are so tired and feeling sleepy. If so, then it is natural because I know someone who does that (I won't mention any names). It is very annoying to people around you so see if you can speed up your eating process. Staying on a food for more than 30mins doesn't seem ok to me.

Nawao…..SLEEPING RIGHT INFRONT OF THE FOOD sound funny to me though but change in work hours or strenuous activities may cause it so adjust your primetime activities like a month straight and see if it still persists to seek medical attention.

Different body system sha

Me fit eat at any hour of the day and night sef and still won’t have any discomfort or complain.

Contrary to ops system, if me eat earlier than dat 9pm sef I may probably wake to eat something before dawn

I wasn't having this experience before. Cos I know that even as at last year I do eat late sometimes.

It started around early or middle this year. And it's been getting worse. Now I won't even be able to finish the food I'll just sleep right there while I'm eating.
Who did you sleep (have sex) with right before this began?

What time do you usually fall asleep? Im asking because if the mentioned time is when you usually go to bed, then that feeling is your body telling you that it's time for bed regardless of the fact that you're eating. Your body releases melatonin which triggers sleep.

Another reason could be due to the sudden rise in blood sugar level, especially if the food is high in carbohydrates. If this is the case, ensure that whatever meal you are eating at this time is low in carbs. Also, if I may advise, please avoid eating late as that may put you at risk of a wide variety of health challenges. If the hunger pangs cannot be curbed, please opt for fruits low in sugar.

Thanks for this, but no, not like that. I have profound enough energy for "everything", great reflex, faster response-ability than lots others and fine level of strength, but for food requiring efforts to eat, I get weak over it. I'd rather not chew fruits, but would rather blend them to drink instead. I'd rather eat porridge than eat yam itself.

Say like a cat could be all so energetic in what interests them, and for what they don't like, they'd rather let low energy reign. It's like that.

Thanks for your counsel actually, but I'd rather not exert jaw energy on high effort foods, but postpone them till when I have the 'time'.

I wish we could switch bodies, I swear. I've stopped eating breakfast because I also feel dozy after eating. I'm not even 30 yet, almost. hahah. Nescafe used to turn me into a mega mind, but now it just sends me to the men's room.

Bros, for your health stop eating past of 6pm.

If you must eat past 6, let it be fruits. If you don't eat in the evening, you won't die.

The thing is I sleep very late most times because I do work until late into the night. Sometimes I'm up till around 2am.

The problem here is that if I taste any from from after 9pm I'll immediately start feeling dizzy and sleepy. But if I don't eat anything, I can stay up until I'm ready to retire to bed.

As for fruits, most fruits aren't readily available when you need them. Maybe it's my location. But I'd say people who live close to markets and bus stops are the ones who can see fruits as an option to quench hunger.

When I was still doing 9-5 I barely eat breakfast. Cos breakfast isn't expected to be heavy. Maybe fries or snacks. If you swallow eba or fufu for breakfast, believe me, your day would be ruined.
