Islamic scholars condemn Xmas day bombings
On December 27, 2011 · In News | 12:50 amTweet

Kano—Islamic scholars in Kano have condemned the bomb attacks in churches around the country on Christmas Day.

The scholars described the attacks as “inhuman and wicked.”

Sheik Muhammad Isa described the attack as “unfortunate and heartless,” adding that that no worshiper should be attacked at a place of worship, especially on holy days.

He said the attackers were not adherents of any faith as no true believer could cause such harm to innocent people.

Sheikh Usman Saif, another cleric, said God would not spare the bombers “for using a religious period to shed blood and upset people.

“How can a person or a group of people, who believe in God hurt people at such a period when people were praying to their God?”

He urged the government to step up security measures.

… lawmaker, too
By Tina akannam
Dutse—Senator Danladi Sankara, representing Jigawa North Central in the National Assembly, yesterday, condemned the Christmas day bombings in some parts of northern states of the country, describing the perpetrators as wicked Nigerians opposed to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led government.

Sankara, however, appealed against reprisal attacks in other parts of the country.

He said: “There is no doubt that the unfortunate blasts on Christmas day were targeted at innocent worshippers to provoke Nigerians against the leadership of the ruling party.

“These acts are condemnable in every sense of it.”[/b]

Tell me how this is going to stop BH? Whether Sultan speaks out or not, BH will stay if the govt does not act decisely.

It appears we all are acting out the strict to blow up Nigeria.

BH and its alqaeda or whoever runs the show there decides to pit us against one another like Muslims against Xtians, North against South, Hausas / Fulanis against North Minority, etc by the model use in Iraq. Different ethnic / Identities will take up arms against the perceived oppressors and the whole country will go up in flame. And here we are, all working to help them to achieve this by attacking ourselves and people who are themselves victims of the current systems.

I will think we need to tread softly on how we abuse innocent people. If the govt will live up to its responsibility, the killings would have been averted. It was reported that intelligence report have mentioned this attacks and govt still fail to stop the attack.

@ Kini kini

Sultan made a general statement while d cleric made a specific statement. It's irresponsible of d sultan to make a general statement at dt specific time. D question remains, has d Sultan addressed dt specific incident?

It's work of FG and co to stop crimes. But what u hav here Is a religious masked crime, hence d importance of d Sultan's actions. Like I said earlier, crime has been commited in name of Islam and people r aggrieved, isn't it expedient for d supreme leader of Islam to speak up? Speaking up won't definitely stop boko haram, but he would hav officially and categorically absolved d general Islamic community. Then everybody knw he's truly concerned and they hav an ally in him.

@ alj boko haram  grin

Aboki na, kwana biu! Yaya kake? Barka da sabo shekarau. Allah ya kawo lafia da alheri. Amin.

Did u deny dt Sultan is d head of Islamic community In nigeria? Then who is? Who declares beginnig and end of Ramadan? Who declares beginning and end of d new year? Who heads d supreme council of Islamic affairs? Who's d representative of holy land amongst Nigerian Muslims?

Amin my brother. I have just been resting wink

I would like to state some facts

All you mentioned might be coming from him as the leader that does not make him the leader of all muslims.

Calling him the leader of all muslims in Nigeria has some profound implications.

1. It means he is the muslim leader of all muslims from yoruba to igala to ijaw, edo, kanuri, jukun, beroms etc That is NOT the case

2. His great grand father introduced Islam to some but not all cultures in Nigeria. From time memorial, Kanuris have always been muslims even before Usman came south.

3. His power is limited to those places emirs are and not place were there are Shehu (Kanuri), Baba Adini (yoruba), Iman, Alfa etc

this people are Spiritual leaders of the Islam faith and not mixing politics with Islam/religion. They do not mix.

For the sake of unity and peace we need to accept that Sultan is NOT the Leader of all Muslims in Nigeria

Usman dan Folio did not introduce Islam to all Nigerian Muslims. Some have been Muslims way before Usman came to the geographical expression call Nigeria.

that is them, Not me

I don't view him as my overall spiritual leader. Not now, not ever

He is a political leader which makes more sense, I don't like the idea of mixing politics with religion. It is the most divisive force on earth

we don't need any coordination. A true Muslim does not need to be told what time to pray, what time to start fasting etc

We already have spiritual leaders like Imans, Alfa, Baba Adini, etc all this people don't mix politics with Islam.

Sultan (Bello) was a spiritual leader and as such was respected because he did not get himself involved too much with politics. Bello sorted out for peace between Muslims and Christians in the North, United the north as an entity and did his best to give free good education in the north that is why like of Sanusi, Atiku and co can talk today. He preached for peace among religion and ethnic groups.

But look at it now, the current Sultan is far more involved with politics rather than peace and development of the north. Why is he not telling like of Atiku and co that have stolen to reinvest in out education ? Rather the Sultan is involve in who the president is and what he does.

As a true Islamic religious Leader, he is meant to promote peace among Muslims and Also among other religion. Thus he is a portray of a True Nigerian Muslim.

The other day I was thinking of the way Nigeria is and all I can do is SMH. Sultan has not explained how GEJ won 40 % of Sokoto if not he had deals with PDP

Now it is becoming clearer why BOKO Haram are thriving in their activities.
Where a leader is not straight forward to lead, then his followers will become unruly.
