Escaped Suspect: Nsa Sets Up Panel To Probe Ringim, Others by supereagle(m): 1:17am On Jan 21, 2012
National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Azazi, has set up a committee to probe the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, and others over the recent escape of suspected Christmas Day bomber, Kabiru Sokoto.

The committee is saddled with the responsibility of studying Ringim’s response to a query issued to him by the Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade, on the issue and take a decision.

Olubolade said this to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.

He said members of the probe panel included military officers, representatives of the ministry and other security agencies.

He said the committee was expected to turn in its report within one week so that the government could take a decision quickly.

He said, “As I did say the other time, I have given some directives. The Inspector-General of Police has responded (to the query).

“A committee has been set up above the police, which takes into cognisance experts in various aspects to come together and conduct another investigation. So, that has been assembled and they have set to work. I think this is how far we have gone.”

When asked whether he was satisfied with Ringim’s response, the minister said, “One thing is to explain and another thing is to look at the content of those explanations. That assignment will be done by the investigation panel set up by the National Security Adviser. I am not a member of the committee.”

Olubolade advised Nigerians to be patient and allow the panel to carry out a thorough job.

He said since a timeline has been given, Nigerians should wait and avoid pre-empting the panel.

Meanwhile, the Emir of Abaji, Adamu Baba Yunusa, and his two sons have been arrested for interrogation over the escape of Sokoto from police custody last Monday in Abaji, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory. The three men were said to have been arrested on Friday following reports that five police escorts were taking Sokoto to the emir’s palace when some youths accosted them and freed the Boko Haram operative.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olusola Amore, could, however, not confirm the arrest, saying he had yet to be briefed about the development.

was it that Kabiru Sokoto escaped to Kano and did the bombings of yesterday there or his subjects did?

Really the IGP needs to be questioned.
Good Development.

DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A PANEL ALL THE TIME OVER EVERY ISSUE IN NIGERIA. We've lost it mehn, damn,
What a way to waste people time , just hear this,
"He said members of the probe panel included military officers, representatives of the ministry and other security agencies".

Do we really have a functional Security Agency in the whole of Nigeria

They feed us with so much crap and bull and we even start to believe it. So now for every Boko Haram Suspect that escapes we will have a panel

Whats rocket science there, they said the guy escaped without a gun shot bn fired, do we need a Prof to tell us something fishy is in there

So why the useless Puff Puff eating panel to write up a 40 page report after sitting for over a month while the people forget about the whole issue and pressure
is off FG to produce the guy.

Some might be fooled , but a few of us are not in any way shape of form. PATHETIC LEADERSHIP IS NO EXCUSE

Only In Nigeria do terrorist suspects get bail like the ones they gave bail to only yesterday,

I suspect BH is FG its just gotten out of hand/out of control by the people who set it up

Everything points out CLEARLY THAT RINGIM IS A MISFIT IN GEJ's Team.  It is up to GEJ to act decisively or be consumed and Mrs Goodluck Becomes the Latest Widow. The most recent Bomb Blasts did not take some of us by Surprise,  It was actually planned for the 12th, 13th January,2012. Thanks for the Subsidy Protests any Way! God has a way he works.  During the Campaigns, a notable "Prophet" prophesied that if a particular DUO does not clinch the Presidency, we shall have a WILD WILD NORTH!  It is very sad that some funny guys come here and spit poo on our sensibilities. The Government of Borno State, Recently FUNDED the BH War Chest Openly with a donation of 100Million Naira. this is not the 1st time. the Madalla Bomber, now escaped was escorted to abuja by a serving military officer and Lodged at Borno State Govt Lodge. Some cheap Liars tell us here that it is the FG/PDP that sponsored the killings. Some even told us the murders in Gombe and Yola was carried out by Armed Robbers.  I Laffff. I laugh at these beasts of JIHAD!!!
The Hunter shall now be hunted, the Killer shall now become the Prey.  Make no mistake, BEASTS do not respect grammar, they BOW only to SUPERIOR FORCE.
GOD shall Rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be Like the chaff of the Mountains that the Wind blows Away.

This is indeed my thinking also. Ringim's position is no longer tenable. He simply has to go. We should, as a people, also speak vociferously about why this Government deems it fitting to send terrorists, who take many lives, to jail  for 5 years and yet set down a 14-years jail sentence for same sex marraige. Konduga (Boko Haram spokesman) got 3 years in jail for his crime. Senator Ndume (alleged Boko Haram Sponsor) is currently on bail. Many Boko haram suspects are freed on bail routninely. Ringim, Azazi and others failing Nigerians are currently running around and worsening the problem. How is this the way to fight this Boko Haram menace?

Even Boko Haram members are in the committee, is this the sacking that GEJ promised him right? So GeJ don't know how to make Good of his threats then let him stop making the threats

What's all these self, the nation is being plagued and all we hear is probe and panel, bombs are being detonated at every city in the north, every now and then we are told to wait another one week to know weather a decision will be taken or not. Meanwhile no panel or probe was set up before deploying and forcing soldiers on harmless citizens of lagos. What a shame, we have disjointed laws in this nation. Obviously the president is confused. He knows and he is not seeking help from the right channels

The SNG, NBA, CLO etc., what are they waiting for. Egocentric fellows. Perhaps no sponsors are available to fund a protest. GEJ does not need a prophet to tell him that Mr. Ringim, the IGP is a member of Boko Haram. It is obvious that the suspect was released for the lastest assignment in Kano. Probing him is a waste of funds and time. If GEJ cannot act promptly, he should resign. Attempts will be made to persuade the FG to negotiate with these terrorists. If he does that, Nigeria is finished. Darkness cannot overcome light. They are cursed, frustrated, barbaric felons filing up to go to hell. Nothing good can come out of them and their descendants. Every right thinking and patriotic Nigerian should condemn the evil activities of this sect. May the souls of the departed fellows rest in peace.
