Doc, I am quietly optimistic going by some of the changes and departures we are witnessing...I am happy that Ten Hag will have a strong say in who goes and who comes and the changes in the scouting department. Hopefully, it will see us spend wisely and on the right players...

One does not really need any certain level to ask for control. Yes he asked for control because he had inside knowledge about the dysfunctional state of anomie established by nitrogen and his fellow board members. However he got that guarantee to have control because after several weeks of negotiations the club realised he was ready and happy to walk away if they didn't acquiesce to his demands.

ETH was not desperate to be appointed Man Utd manager and the club realized he was willing to walk away if his demands were not met. He wasn't desperate for the job enough to accept it under wretched conditions.

Contrast that with Mourinho whose level was way higher than ETH's current status, but because he was desperate to manage a big team again after his Chelshit sack he grabbed the job with 2 hands without guarantees to have control.
