I agree with this move intoto, no irrelevant group should be allowed to hijack this great Nigerian's burial for selfish gains. Even the burial commitee does not recognize MASSOB.

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) has agreed with the Federal government on the proposed plans to give the late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu a full state burial.

The FG has stated that as part of conditions to give Ojukwu a state burial, all groups, not accredited by the burial committee, including MASSOB, will not be assigned any official role during the burial.

According to the statement  released on Tuesday by the MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, who spoke through Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, the proposed burial arrangement which had  stipulated full military burial for the late Igbo leader has been accepted.

“We hail the President of Nigeria for approving full state burial for late General Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the leader of Biafra and Ezeigbo Gburugburu. The decision to stop MASSOB from participating during Ojukwu’s burial as a group which was reached at the meeting with the burial committee and representatives of Chief of Army  Staff and Ojukwu’s family shall not be contested. MASSOB had earlier agreed to allow the federal government to complete their burial rites on the the first day and take over the second day," the statement said.

Anyway they have a legitimate right to that considering they are biafrans.Inshort Ojukwu was once a biafran. Then he became a Nigerian again afterwards.Meaning FGN can also lay claim to Ojukwu body as well as massob. The question now is,"did Ojukwu die a wanna be biafran or a Nigerian"?

They av never had a say in real igbo-affair, just a bunch of restive youth fronting for biafra struggle. They are like some of our hate-filled internet warriors who happen av the privilegde of a gun and a educated leader, Nothing more.
They shld be warned this is not their territory. It belongs to real army men.

Ikemba died a Nigerian, fullstop.

Remember that the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Shehu Aliyu Usman Shagari granted an official pardon to Odumegwu-Ojukwu. Thereafter Ojukwu had played a significant role in Nigeria's return to democracy since 1999 (the fourth Republic). He had contested as presidential candidate of his party, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for the last three of the four elections. Until his illness, he remained the party leader.

Ok o! Lets then say Ojukwu the great Nigerian leader has passed away.Than the Igbo leader or Biafran war lord or like massob would want him to be and inspiration towards the actualization of a biafran state.

Have no worries, my brother. There are enough prisons and military tools to deal with any threat posed by wayward coneheads. cool

I agree, no unaccredited group should be recognised or allowed a vip access to the venue. If they like they can gate crash. . . NA dey there to throw them in jail.

If at all. . . .if by any means at all it is absolutely important that a people's rights group would be invited and given vip seat it ought to be OPC. . . . the only group that is widely attributed and recognized for standing up and advocating human rights for everybody. Now, Im not sponsoring their admission but as I said, if there is a one spot reserved for a grassroot movement then OPC qualify to be that one movement allowed in. Heck. . . . Ojukwu himself said before he died that he admired OPC.

You are either an illiterate or mischievious. MASSOD earlier wanted to take over the second day of the ceremony but as it stands, that is not going to happen because MASSOB will not be assigned any official role during the burial either in Day1 or Day10. olodo

ekwy,

Let me warn you . . . .you go tell your MASSOB hooligans and their trouble makers, if anybody attire in biafran uniform he will have plenty to explain.  Nigerian Army uniform is the only recognized military at the event.  This is a NA army and Nigerian flag event only.  Do you hear me?   No joke. . . offenders will be arrested and jailed, rebeliions will be put down by force.  Wait till NA leave before you put on biafra uniform and flag.  Do you understand me? angry

Biafran flag has been flown outside of state events. This is state event! You will be arrested and jailed if you violate the statutes of Nigerian sovereignty. Go and read up on the law.

if i understand political science well, "state" and "sovereignty" resides permanently with the people
NA army represents nigerians (people) and massob represents biafrans(people)
both are separate and neither recognize the other
NA will do their thing and go
massob will take over afterwards

You need to tighten the nuts up ur shoulders first before running around ojukwu thread like a headless chicken.
Biafran colours will adore the length and breadth of the burial venue, your so called chief of army staff of NA is a biafran blood in Nigerian uniform so deal with it.
@ bold is already a done deal btw FG and the burial committee, so relax and watch us do our thing. tongue tongue

Isn't it the family of the dead has the right to ban or unban a group from the burial of the dead.

Nigeria keeps making a fool of itself in the political system when compared to the rest of the world.
WTF?

I do not think federal government of Nigeria has the will-power to run Ojukwu’s burial marathon with MASSOB. There is no doubt MASSAB is willing to bury Ojukwu forever.  smiley smiley

@OP

It is still good to know that mere invoking the name - Biafra and the ever presence of MASSOB in Nigeria is enough to set peoples’ head spinning out of control.

If I had been told 6 months ago that some loudmouthed losers on this forum would dogmatically hold a magisterial brief for federal government of Nigeria in a matter bordering the burial of Ojukwu, the so-called Biafran the warlord, I would have doubted such instance.
