Dangote cheif strategies is proposing back integration schemes for oil refinery...meaning only companies that are currently buiding refineries should be allow to import petroleum product into Nigeria ....this has been his strategy to coner ever markets he jumps into ( in the guise of local production capacity) to create monopoly or oligopoly...used same for sugar and cements now proposing same for refinery......i visited the refinery projects recently and I observed that the company was more interested in finishing the depots ,loading gantry and access road and Jetty ....with a 60m litre capacity completed....they have 3 companies in the location...Dangote refinery (40 peecent completed ) dangote product marketing company ( completed ) and dangote fertilizer (complete)....the dangote petroluem marketing company is suppose to buy refine products from Dangote refinery and sell for profit.... and can source for products any where in the world....so since the refinery is not yet ready they can't wait f they will start by importing this year..... (This a decoy) since the enough depot and stations and vessel own by dapman and ipman member and non is building a refinery currently if the govt accept the back ward integration then only dangote product marketing company will monopolized the 1 trillion naira hyrocarbon markets

He is a shareholder, he invested part of the N65 billion he made from the sale of his shares in Forte Oil.

Minimum Investment for pioneer investors in the refinery is about $50 million

Let’s assume he invested $100m. So because of $100m, na him Baba dey follow Aliko bumper to bumper to monitor that him small investment? grin

Such people don’t go into ventures like this to be minority shareholders. I believe he has a much larger interest in that business. He’s most likely going to be the guy marketing the refined products produced there lipsrsealed

Most of the people doing the blockage non really get any business, just like agbero say no transport for road today. They really have nothing to lose, it is these poor farmers that get to be affected by this backward thinking since they will produce farm produce and there will be no off takers.

Africans really need to learn strategic thinking, everything is too much of brawl.

Minority get level . 5% ownership of MTN will give you a dividend of over N9 billion last year, 5% ownership of Dangote Cement will give you a dividend of N14 billion during the lockdown of 2020.

Better to own 1% of a well managed growing business, than 100% of a struggling business

I know, but you should also know that if the blockade continues, then know that those same poor farmers that are hiding herdsmen and bandits will start attacking them for spoiling their business ,thereby putting an end to that madness, which is a good thing for us all.
I've seen this happen a lot of times, so it's not theory .

Understood.

But believe me, FO is not following Dangote bumper to bumper on this because of dividends. He has a much larger interest in that business.

China is claiming to have completely defeated poverty. China is a country of 1.4billion people, Africa is 1.6 billion, Nigeria is just 200m (which I don't believe is true though).
I am not a believer of this American variant of democracy, it is not for many parts of Asia and definitely not for Africans.

Good Morning boss

Do you know when the Dangote refinery will be completed? And also, will it spell doom for the exchange rate among other things like the guy above mentioned?

Kindly clarify

the last time I visited the depots and loading gantries and Jetty have been completed also the fertilzer section and dealers appointed the refining sector got a lot of work but the fractionating colums is already on ground ...they also going to renovate the road to ibeju lekki to shagamu for trucking out ....the thinking is that if we can save 40 percent of forex bill from import of pms the naira is suppose to be stable or appreciate but Nigeria economic is abnormal and illogical...like now crude oil rose to 65 dollar but the naira is depreciating to 410 but when crude went to zero the naira was stable at 390 ....

Means it's hard to predict then.. But I think saving 40% will still help one way or the other

Per what you said, refinery should be ready by next year then

Thanks

There is nothing illogical about Nigeria, its just common sense.
Crude is $65 true ,but reason naira is weak is because CBN isn't funding parallel market efficiently and Nigeria businessmen being made up of mostly illiterates and local tradesmen ,the parallel market is their only resort since they don't have what it takes to access NAFEX.
What this means is that the parallel market will always determine how things go in this country.
If CBN like, they can save 100% fx expenditure via dangote refinery,if they don't fund the parallel market properly ,naira will continue to crash as a host of tradesmen go there to buy $$$

why will dey ? When it markets patronize by illegals like contraband importers and smugglers and money laundering syndicates....the bdc have been smiling to the bank since nov 2020 they make 1.5 m naira ever week on a capital of just 4m naira and license ...
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 8:31am On Mar 02, 2021
I was hearing on channels that urea fertilizers will start moving from this week. I think the thinking is that the fertilizer plant can start producing while work on the refinery can continue.

Imagine how a nation of more 160 million are waiting for just one man.

You sure about the bolded?
Yes,most naija importers are smugglers that cut corners here and there and have no clear cut commodity they are working on,rather "cut and join" from China, hence these people can't access NAFEX .
But what you should ask yourself is ,why are these people smuggling?
