Lool...thanks. but this one na stress. I prefer rounding up in million. Plus...I also found out stanbic doesn't reinvest interest for both pry and sec. It would have been a better option like I do with FBN
This is a lie. I did reinvestment of interest in stanbic by February this year (primary @14.9%). I have my cert with me I didn’t collect any interest that month. That was how I knew how to calculate it. They invested till about few hundred naira left. And discounted the few hundred naira from my invested capital. 3M to collect 3.525M by February 2020.

Sorry am not getting this your analysis you said 10% is per annum, and there are 3 fixed rates for 91days 185days and 365days so why will they divide again if for example 91 days tenor is 10%. Please explain and I would be glad if gurus can put more light. Let's say I have 150,000 to invest for 91days and interest rate for 91days is 10% what is my profit at the end of 91days. Thanks as you educate me more.
your profit for a 91 day tenor of 10% on 150,000 is 15,000 paid upfront. N135,000 is deducted from your account and left with N15,000. This is your yield. At the end of 91 days, N150,000 is credited back to your account. Pure and simple

N150,000 at 10% for 91 days gives you N3,739 interest without factoring applicable charges not N15,000

Please take note everyone in case you don't know. ALL rates quoted for any returns on your investment of any tenor are always per annum. Let's be well guided.

Wrong, wronger, wrongest.

I = (P*T*R)/(365*100)

Where:

I = Interest
P = Principal
R = Rate
T = Time or Tenor

Therefore:

I = (150,000*10*91)/365*100
I = 136,500,000/36,500
I = 3739.72602739726
I = 3,739.73.

3,000,000 @14.9%= #447,000
447,000 @14.9% = #66,603
66,603 @14.9% = #9,923.8
9,923.8 @14.9% =#1,478.6
1,478.6 @14.9% =#220.3

Interest = 447,000+66603+9923.8+1478.6+220.3 =#525,225.7

I had some few change in the account that went for charges.

I think an easier way to do this should be (14.9%*3M) + (14.9%*(14.9%*3M)

From what i see here it is just the initial investment rate that was calculated. The true yield if you actually hold the tbills till the end of 365days. Then the total profit will be quite more

You dont need to go through this long stress.

just apply the formular below

(Principal*100)/(100-rate)

ie
(3,000,000*100)/(100-14.9)
= 300,000,000/85.1
=3,525,264

How would this work for secondary market purchases with tenor less than 364 days?

If you use FBN, an even lazier way would be to collect your confirmation of investment. Your return, as well as applicable charges, would be shown there. No need for plenty calculation or mysterious formula.
Sense (or laziness tongue) no go kee me grin grin
