THE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FBN Capital, a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mr. Osaze Osifo passed on yesterday at the age of 43. Osifo, according to sources, died in his sleep. Osifo joined First Bank from Travant Capital, an investments and advisory firm, which he co-founded and led from inception in January 2007. He led a number of advisory mandates at Travant and managed the fund raising and partial deployment of a $107 million private equity fund focused on West and Central Africa. He started his career in 1990 at HSBC Investment Bank, UK, where he initially worked as a trader in the capital markets business on different products including money market instruments, derivatives, foreign exchange and fixed income securities for years. Thereafter, he moved to the investment banking division as a corporate financier in both the Mergers and Acquisition, and Telecoms departments. Osifo held two Masters Degrees, one in Finance from the London Business School, and the other in Management Science and Operational Research from the University of Warwick.
