THINGS YOU'LL NEED WHEN GOING TO
NYSC CAMP
Here they are:
*16 Photocopies of Statement of Result
*16 Photocopies of School ID Card
*16-24 copies of passport photo
*16 Photocopies of Call-up Letter
*10 plain sheets of paper
*A Pen
*Stapler with your own pins (will save
you a lot of begging)
*glue
*A Cardigan
*4 Round-necked white T-Shirts
*2-3 extra pairs of white Shorts
*a pair of plain white Sneakers (the one
NYSC will give may scatter)
*5 pairs of white socks
*A pair of slippers
*DETTOL (very essential)
*A Novel (very essential esp. if u read a
lot, or if u get bored easily)
*Money about 20 to 30,000 Naira
should see you through the camp
period modestly. but if you have to
drink and hang out at The Mammy
market a lot, then you can take more
monies depending on how much you
can finish, be wise though!
Your Toiletries
*Bucket, soap dish (buy at the camp
site, don't stress yourself taking one to
the place, they always sell in the camp)
*Waist bag
*Torchlight
*Music (Ipod, MP3, Phone...any which
one, just take ya music)
*ATM card (u may need 2 run out and
get dough..)
*Food Flask
Sun Glasses: It can get really sunny,
especially in the north, but I'll advice all
to take sun glasses since you'll be
standing on the parade ground for long
hours. unless it's rainy season.
*Please remember to also take the
original documents, some camps
will send you home if u don't have
originals.
*I have got a few questions from people
who wanted to know if the photocopies
are not too many. Well, you are better
off taking a few more copies than less.
NB: don't pack loads of unnecessary
stuff sha... as for day clothes (mufti)
pack one or two cos you'll only be allowed to go on mufti on Sundays and
you have 3 Sundays, so why pack all
your clothes? On the 1st day of registration, try to see that after you do
your registration where u declare your
call-up letter, you endeavor to register for accommodation as early as possible, if not you'll not have a place to sleep on ur 1st night in camp, and that's not
funny.

Re: 2012 NYSC Batch B(june) Aspirants Meet Here. by fashrola(m): 1:25pm On May 24, 2012
I got this from a senior otondo who passed-out last year...and I also hope it will help...it's very comprehensive, concise and understandable...Read on

The Basic Things/Items You Will Need To Take Along With You For The NYSC Orientation Course "

BEFORE TRAVELLING FOR NYSC ORIENTATION COURSE

This is very important, once you have been given your call-up letter, do not wait to get back home or when you get to your state of deployment to photocopy the call-up letter along side other of your credentials. Do all photocopies at your school before going back home. This will save you some stress of caring documents around when you arrive your state of deployment.

OVERALL BASIC REQUIRMENTS FOR NYSC
Three major requirements are made for the NYSC Orientation Course; you will be taking care of two yourself and the other one will be by NYSC. I have classified the requirements into 3 for easy comprehension
*. Registration Requirement (by You)
*. Basic NYSC Amenities (by NYSC)
*. Camp Life/Welfare Requirement (by You)

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
*. Original NYSC Call Up letter (maximum of 2 Photocopies )
*. Original Statement Of Result from your School (maximum of 6 Photocopies )
*. Final Year Student ID card ( A laminated copy will be provided for you by your school's SUG, SA make at least minimum of 4 copies)
*. Passport Photographs (6 passports will do for the basic registrations you will be doing on camp. You will still take another compulsory copies of passport on camp with your AJUWAYA UNIFORM, so add 6 copies to another 6 you will take while on camp, to make it 12 copies in all.) The only reason why you may want to have more than 12 copies is if you have in mind of enrolling for any of the Professional Exams like NIM, and others or other occuring activities that may come up later during your service year.

BASIC NYSC AMENITIES
Once you are done with your registration, you will be sent to the NYSC Orientation Camp store where the store keeper will issue you an NYSC KIT-containing 2 white T-shirts, 2 white shorts, a white Canvas shoe, your 7/7 Ajuwaya Uniform (1=Cap, 2=NYSC Crested vest, 3=Khaki shirt, 4=khaki trouser, 5=belt, 6=Stockings, 7=Jungle Boot ) These are the basic and free materials you will receive from NYSC!

Now lets go to the ones you will buy for yourself/myself.

CAMP LIFE/WELFARE REQUIREMENTS
Some of the requirements under this field may be optional to some people, however I have listed some basic requirements you will be needing to add to the ones given to you by NYSC to make life easy and comfortable on camp.
1. Extra White Shorts and T-shirts (two pairs):
2. Extra White Canvas Shoes
3. Bible/Koran : Always be the good boy/girl you were raised to be. Go with your bibles if you are a christian and Koran if you are a muslim. Remember, God first before any other thing...
4. Mufti: Camp is only for three weeks, sometimes two weeks; don't go and pack all your clothes with the mindset to show off on camp, you are only allowed to wear muftis on Sundays for service, after which you switch back to white and white.
5. Cutlery : It is better to go with these, though they may be sold in the MAMI MARKET ( An occasional market inside the NYSC Camp, where everything you need for the camp can be bought)
Tip: Things are very expensive in MAMI MARKET.....
6. Waist Bag
7. Food flask
8. Dettol or Anyother Disinfectant (very essential) : Most NYSC Camps don't have good water system, so keep yourself healthy by buying this before you leave for camp.
9. Stapler with Your Own Pin : While on camp, you will be filling so many forms both official and unofficial. These forms most times requires you to pin them together, unfortunately, NYSC doesnot make provision for this.
10. Pen and Paper: While on camp, you will be receiving series of lectures from different organizations and individuals including your fellow corps members. Remember you will be meeting people you have not met before, don't create a wrong impression that you were not the serious type while in school, always brace up yourself and let people know that you are really a graduate with uniqueness!
11. Toiletries : Get yourself toiletries like soap, tissue, lotion, toothpaste, tooth-brush, perfumes, body sprays, etc.
12. Bucket and Soap Dish: Buy these at the camp site, or when you arrive the city of your state of deployment.
13. Mosquito Net : If you want to remain a friend of Mosquito, then go to camp without a mosquito net, but if you love your life and know what mosquito can do to your health, then buy a good and strong mosquito net.
14. Digital Camera : If you have a digital camera, you can also take it alongwith you because you will definitely havelots of scenes to capture. Your camera phone will also do the work for sure; just get a memory card that can store plenty pictures! This optional oohhh...
15. Torchlight
16. Music Player : Strictly for the musiclovers. (Ipod, MP3, Phones...any which one, just take ya music to the hills!)
17. Sun Glasses: It can get really sunny, especially in the north, but I'll advice all to take sun glasses since you'llbe standing on the parade ground for long hours. unless it's rainy season.
18. A Cardigan : If you feel cold often try to go with a Cardigan, NYSC camp is usually a wild bush and most times located at areas that are cold and hot triggered.
19. Bucket/Soap Dish and Towel : Unless you don't want to be bathing, don't go with these items...lol
20. Pocket Money

fashrola: Well prospective batch "B" corper willing to serve in Akwa Ibom state, I want to brief you a little about the place, Though I'm from Akwa Ibom and I school @ Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, I've also been mobilized for the NYSC programme too, Akwa Ibom state (Uyo as a case) Uyo is a very nice place to be, especially the new infrastructure put to place by the State Governor which includes: Good and beautiful roads, Cinema, At least manageable power supply, good road network system (no hold-up), Cheap accommodation and Transportation, Uyo is a very peaceful place and it is not as big as Lagos, therefore it is a really organized-city, Where the problem lies is which LGA you will be posted to in Akwa Ibom state, well I'll tell you the best LGA to serve with most good social amenities includes: Uyo, Eket (oil-rich town), Ikot Ekpene, Abak, Oron, Ibiono, Itu...though other LGA are good but I'm just telling you the best LGA in Akwa Ibom state and their proximity to the state Capital. Don't mind my grammer sha, I'm typing with a phone...
fashrola: *Continuation* for those that will be posted to Oron ( This is the LGA where Maritime Academy of Nigeria is located) some of you may wonder "I've never heard about this institution b4" Hmm well its a professional institution just for the training of seafarers, which include Captains, Marine engineers and their courses is specifically tailored for the Maritime industry in Nigeria, for more info abt the school, just google it, Ok back to the point..... If you are really lucky to be posted to Oron LGA in Akwa Ibom state and also fortunate to be posted to Maritime Academy of Nigeria as a corper just thank your stars....because you'll enjoy a lot of benefits during your stay in as a corper at Maritime Academy of Nigeria. Corpers are paid N15k there, You'll be provided with a lodge, and the school runs a 24/7 power supply, Your security is assured, cos the Institution is a regimented school, powered by the Nigerian Navy... While I was a cadet there, I'm always jealous of corpers serving in my skool cos I just wanted to be like them (posted somewhere similar to my skool) but sha I know God will make a way for me too...That's all folks...pls I will like other corpers in the house to throw more info about their state, conditions and benefits too, at least we'll be enlighten before we are posted to our various places...Thank you
PS: Don't mind my english...just no time to make some corrections

Lolzz..alrite,am based in Kaduna, and I graduated frm ABU zaria,so i'l cal myself a Northerner.
Kaduna was quite peaceful,I'd once argued it was the most peaceful Northern state..wel,until recently.
In case u r posted here,it's no biggie.
Oppurtunity abounds in kaduna..lots of Industries and parastatals. Kaduna city is the most developed. There's also Zaria, where i schooled. Safe for the school, zaria could be ranked as underdeveloped. And except in the case where u find urself inside the school community, the town itself can't be classified as 70percent safe when there's trouble.
Kafachan is also another gud town, predominatly populated by the Christain faith.
Jaji is another town. A military cantoment. And apart frm the "military zone",Jaji can be classified as a 'hot zone'.
In summary,Kaduna is largely divided in2 Muslim populated North, Christian dominated South.
If u fall in2 the nortern part, pls, include 'veil' as one of ur requirements.
I heard the state government,on the pop ground give 30k as TP to its outgoin corpers. Of cors, which eva cooperations u find urself, they'l also pay..even handsomely as the case my be.
Electricity- Fairly good. There are places where u can get 24/7..other places are been rationed.
Accomodation..depending on the range and ur tastes.
Security-I'v said much on that.
NB: There's a working refinary in kd..close 2my house. They accept corpers too and d pay is jaw opening and mouth watering.
Goodluck.

Same here too, but don't worry just meet your student Affairs and request for an ID card, I think skools will offer all students with one year validity ID card when coming to collect your call-up letter, or yet still go and do the-way-and-manner ID card for yourself
