Just because someone is an expert in one area doesn't mean the same person can't be relatively average in another. An example is Einstein, who was a genius in the area of physics but when it came to economics, he supported socialism and that is really not the smartest position to take when it comes to economic and political freedom.

Supporting socialism is silly because it puts the goals of the collective over those of the individual. In a society like that, there is bound to be oppression as the leaders of the party seek to force their particular vision on the rest of society. Such a society with too much government involvement in individuals' choices will never acheive sustainable progress because it's inefficient. Hugo Chavez's socialist regime in Venezuela is a current example. Last week, he proposed to seize people's retirement savings and have the state manage the money. Do you want the state touching your money??

You can say Laissez Faire Capitalism "makes the rich richer and the poor poorer" but unfettered socialism makes everyone poorer and eventually takes your freedom.

Free market capitalism with efficient ( open to interpretation) government regulations is the best way to organize an economy. Free markets promote competition between businesses out to maximize profit and these leads to employment opportunities, economic growth, innovation and individual freedom. Capitalism ensures that govennment only exists to protect individual liberty, property rights, provide social programs to help the "poor"(a hint of socialism), limit the negative characteristics of capitalism and provide the proper macroeconomic policies.
