Segedinho, here you go.

By the time he stretch to control that ball, KDB has already blocked the passing lane. His only option there is to dribble, try a risky pass to Kepa or play it for throw in.

Alonso supposed to drop the ball in the area I've marked and run down the line for a one-two, than play it behind him and make him stretch to control, putting us facing backward.

If Alonso meant to play that ball backward, he will not run forward to receive the return pass. He will double back to create a passing lane. Alonso misplayed that pass.
Jeez..

How is that an over-hit pass....?

Can't you differentiate an over hit pass and receiving d ball in a tight corner

There is no lie about it. He only shows when there is no one around him. That's why his passing stats collapse from Xavi levels to Bakayoko levels when the other team employ a strong press
Strong press.I agree he is subdued when in contact??

You agree he is subdued in tight situation but disagree he hides from such situations? Ok, watch closer next time, although his passing stats in such matches should have told you that. Why will someone passing stats suddenly drop to 30 passes against strong pressing opposition. We have seen this in several Man City matches, Spain match, Liverpool match etc. The difference between Kovacic making 59 passes, nearly double the 30 Jogginghoe has made in his last 3 encounters with City and Liverpool is the bravery not to hide from such situations.

Bros, I just can't talk about Alonso. Almost all the time I was on the edge as soon as the ball found its way to his wing. But, he later grew into the game.

I wouldn't fault the Kova - Kante partnership today that much cos we've seen what they can do. Kante missed KDB by few seconds that normally he would have gotten and saved the team.

Our front three was what let us down today and not really the middle pack.

See all the balls Lukaku got today for instance from the same midfield that he fluffed time and time again.

Ziyech playing like he should have gone for Afcon and Pulisic running everywhere doing nothing.
Spot on...

Pls can you all allow this coaches to take responsibilities for once without bringing all this washed up stories in their defence? When the going is good we don't here them but once there is a slip up, that when media will be cooking up stories and gullible fans will start spreading them around like you are doing. Let Ancelotti start having bad results now, that is when we would start hearing he wanted to sell modric in the summer and bring back ronaldo, exchange vinicius with mbappe but real Madrid board didn't agree.

I haven't had the time to be online since I saw this.

First of all, I don't know why you keep wailing over my own loss. Surely you're not daft to think I didn't know mancity have a stronger chance of winning Chelsea. It was an emotional bet because I support Chelsea. We always start as underdogs against mancity but our past 5 managers have consistently beaten mancity with those odds. Infact we thrive as underdogs.
Mourinho won mancity at their home.
Conte won mancity home and away.
Sarri won mancity at home.
Lampard won mancity.
Tuchel won mancity multiple times.
We have beaten mancity more than any other team in the last 10 years. We are one of the very few teams to ever outpossess a Guardiola team that obsesses over possession. I bet that money which is like my weekly subscription money in HOPE of us pulling another upset like we do. I don't know why you keep taking Panadol over someone else's headache and crying more than the bereaved.

You are someone who favours hope over reality. Remembering good moments and putting your money in your emotions.

Here's some cold reality for you, our last 4 trips to Etihad in the league have seen 3 defeats, one of which was a 6-0 drubbing with your boy Jogginghoe manning the DM. The only one we won was at the tail end of last season when they had virtually wrapped up the league and were focussed on the UCL. Even at that Aguero missed a penalty to make it 2-0 and a Zouma clear penalty was overlooked.

I can criticise a player when we win or when we lose. I am not those who get tossed about by the wind or feel-good factor. I can also not criticise a player when we lose.

It is you with unrealistic expectation of the match who foolishly went and bet on it, lost and then using the loss to push your agenda when our midfield stats yesterday was better than any stats we posted in the two wins Jogginghoe started last season, and at odds with TT assessment of the problems in the game.

donjazet:

Secondly, I pity for the fools that take you serious sha. People who don't know that once you're stubborn about an issue, no matter how foolish the opinion is, you will never change it.

You rate a failure like horjberg that has exposed his defenders to conceding 70 goals last season, that has achieved nothing in football over quality DM's like jorginho and rodri who have played their parts in making their teams defensively solid.

You knew that mancity were an almost unbeatable team and surrendered before the match but the same you would keep highlighting jorginho's error against mancity while conveniently creating excuses for kante and kovacic who also failed woefully.
Why are you silent on kante who was our sitting DM?
Your hypocrisy stinks. As I said earlier, it's the fools who take you serious who have much to lose sha.

Keep your foolishness to yourself. Chelsea conceded 81 goals in 2019/20 season with Jogginghoe manning the DM, more than the 70 goals you keep shouting about Hojberg. Football is not lawn tennis.

Another foolish point bolded in your last paragraph, Kova is the replacement for Jogginghoe. Kante plays the right side with Jogginghoe on the left and did so again against City. I don't expect you to notice this since your tactical observation has always left a lot to be desired. Kova played the left side where Jogginghoe normally plays and showed bravery to make himself available for the ball, doubling the number of touches Jogginghoe has been making against this opposition while hiding on the pitch.

Yes, I am stubborn. I judge players on their individual strengths and weaknesses. I am not the type to get carried away by the team doing well in a short period under a manager, when 4 years of watching those same players tell me different.

Let those who change opinion like the wind continue to do so. I will not join others in doing belle-face punditry because the team started winning under TT. I will look at the individual player and assess them stubbornly. We've seen people go from spending 4 years castigating Christensen and Rudiger under Conte, Sarri, and Lampard suddenly hailing em best thing since sliced bread. People who hailed Alonso for the first month of the season, then went quiet when Chilwell came in the team. People who saw Lukaku bang in few goals in August and started expressing supreme confidence that we would win the league in the hope that his goals take us over the line, and shut Jogginghoe haters up about not winning the league. Those same people now turned into Lukaku biggest haters. People who one year ago hail Kovacic the best since sliced bread and Jogginghoe the worst of the worst do an about-face. You can see one of them below, maybe that's the belle-face you prefer. I prefer to be stubborn and focus on players individual quality, than jump on moving train because coach found a way to win UCL playing defensive football. In the long run, a player individual quality and robustness will outlive any tactical triumph from the coach. This is not my first rodeo. You can ask those who insisted that Mikel and Ramires must be our starting midfield after 2012 UCL triumph and how they argued with me for months and accused me of being stubborn. If a player does not have it, they don't have it.

I saw Kovacic give away a bad chance

But I won't criticise him because the alternative is worse

And he only gave away that chance by being brave enough to show for the ball with 3 players around him to help out a stranded Alonso, a situation Jogginghoe would have hidden from. I will not criticise a player when his alternative is much worse in those situations.

If you go back and check that incident, you will even see Alonso misplayed the pass, making him stretch to get the ball under control, giving City vital time to close him.
when Jorginho shows up to receive a bad pass like he did against soton and misplace it, you will start wailing

Maybe you should bring a gif of that picture. Let’s not forget kovacic received the ball, had to waste time till he was caught up with

What I know abt his draw backs.
1)unnecessary back passes.

2)subdued by a stronger opponents.

And Kante and kovacic have these to complement him.....

which last 3 encounter.

The Liverpool match and city match he didn’t play.

Or the first leg of Liverpool match we were down with a red card and he was the most passer in our mildfield or is it the city game at home where kova made only 3 passes more than him. Despite kova playing full time?

Not true, Tuchel messed up with the lineup but I won’t blame him though, rather the board for signing a player that doesn’t suit his tactics.

It is clear to anyone who focus on it and observe the game. Baba goes into hiding when the press is strong, and you will often see Kovacic dropping deep to make the play while baba is hiding. Why will a playmaker abandon his duty to a yeoman every time the press is strong.

You can only deceive yourself.

Jogginghoe played 90 minutes, made 29 passes.

Kova came on at halftime, played a whole half with 10 men and made 23 passes, nearly catching a playmaker who played 45 more minutes with 11 men.

On weekend, Kova made 59 passes while Jogs did 34 passes at Stamford Bridge and in UCL final.

Playmaker that hides in tough games for yeomen to do his job. We didn't buy him to dominate Newcastle who we will win anyway

The jorginho debate will never end.
Football is opinionated afterall. It's always very hard to measure the impact of one player in a team sports, especially defenders and midfielders. Hence the "agendas" everywhere. Lots of different opinions about a player.

While a few people will choose to believe jorginho "hides" or "escorts", whatever that means, a vast majority believe that this is an intelligent player who knows how to read the game and find spaces by passing and close control of the ball, How to evade pressure and also control and dictate the tempo of a game. Setting personal records in the game.

It's only time that ends up judging a player better.

One thing is certain, if jorginho left Chelsea at the end of this season. He will be fondly remembered as our own vice captain who also played his role in leading us to numerous domestic and European cups while also winning the European best player award while with us and making the top 3 balondor list.

He will be remembered very fondly 10 years from now.
Before that we can only hope to continue to see more from him.

Like, how did someone saw that game and termed our midfield the worst department of our team surprises me.

We all know what Kante can do ffs. Kante was silent because of TT's low block setup which we weren't expecting. Kovacic tried his bea to push the ball forward and dribble his way out. The front three lack of press and cohesion was our undoing as City kept overloading our midfield.

Starting Ziyech and Pulisic was the killer for me. Immediately Izzuo saw that line up, he knew we were done. How Ziyech and Pulisic even started the 2nd half again was a mystery to me.

Aside the shot on target against Ederson, Lukaku was terribly poor reminisce of his days at scummy utd.

This isn't agenda.
