i stay in ph so i can tell u that for almost three years now that project has been on now and it wont be completed in the next 10 years.
Re: Progress On Port Harcourt City Monorail by Goldcon: 9:52am On Jun 01, 2012
u dont join the pillars together. There are prefab steel rails which will be installed by suppliers. This can not be done at this stage
I know dat, just like in bridges. My point is that, that also will take time and money. The project is a good one but considering the cost, duration and timing compared with other pressing needs, makes it wrong. There is the right time for everything

Goldcon:

Like I said. D poster i believe was talking to pple outside PH. Dis is a COMPLETE White ELEPHANT PROJECT. Somebody wrote dat he works with the company handling it, pls answer me

This project was one of the achievement of amaechi during d reelection campaign (He had better things to include)more than 18months ago.

How many pillars has been added bw then and now and how many is remaining to complete the project

how much is the cost of each pillar and how much will be the total cost

more than 2 years on that project not up to 2 kilometres,(UTC Jucntion to Station) still not completed. how long will the rest take.

You have not started work on joining the pillars together.
on the emboldened, why?
Why do Port Harcourt peeps feel this in-built need to brag, even when what they brag about is unrealistic?
Is it necessary to post pictures of a project that had been comatose for nearly 2years?That is just plain stupid and irresponsible, I'm sorry.
It's this unnecessary sycophancy (which won't get us anywhere) that allows someone who knows the project is dead to even think about displaying it.

One weasel-face character called phantom insulted me on this same mono-trash topic a whole ago.Now he has come here to subtly eat his words about this same mono-rail.
Amaechi thinks he can fool the mostly-gullible Rivers indigenes/residents with phantom projects like these.Yet supposedly-reasonable folks here are commending him for a project that might not be completed in its entirety the next 10years,let alone under this present administration. Then when he erects 30 poles in 5years of government within a walkable distance, supposedly-reasonable people are commending him for "at least doing something" when enormous resources which should have been used elsewhere have been poured into this financial black hole.

Instead of being prudent with resources and looking at other pressing needs, he focusses on dead-beat projects.
Port Harcourt is riddled with all manner of issues, ranging from ever-increasing touts running around town under the guise of Task Forces for revenue generation to decaying infrastructure and poor roads maintenance and construction.I pity the next governor who will inherit this monorail liability and the inherent financial burden.

O please grow up. I have told you many times to settle your problems with amaechi instead of running around talking ish like a biaatch on heat. I have always been sceptical about that project together with many others like the nta rd. Amaechi is not a saint and I ve always been objective about it and that's more than I can say for you who gets hard whenever omehias name is mentioned
Re: Progress On Port Harcourt City Monorail by okogasir(m): 9:36am On Jun 02, 2012
i lived in Port Harcourt for 24 years and all i can say is , nobody is looking for a saint as a Governor, all we need is someone to give hope that problems are being tackled and no one can deny that's what Amaechi has done. any indigene in Rivers state who complains about hardship is very ignorant of her/his entitlements. Although sometimes we fake Local government identification, for us foreigners, our greatest problem is still electricity (some areas already have uninterrupted but we want more areas)

from experience, shop owners should shut up about revenue collectors/hooligans, join an association/cartel and pay your dues, only commercial vehicle drivers have the right to complain about revenue collectors/hooligans

get your brain checked before it becomes late. the list of touts in RS is endless

Weasel face shows up.
It has nothing to do with personal matters.
It has everything to do with congenital mor.ons like you who heap praises on folks who do nothing in reality.
You have an obvious talent of avoiding real issues and attacking people's personality when they don't agree with you.
The joke's on you, buddy, you are the obe who needs to grow up, and quickly too.
Get you lips of Amaechi's butt so you can see what's in front of you.

some folks really can seperate what omeha did in his short time in office from that of Amaechi, the guy is trying but were he goofs, we should say so and stop this buttlicking so people have taken as a way of life

When people start making statements such as "we are not looking for a saint", or "nobody is a saint", or "there are none perfect", be careful, what might come next is most likely 90% biased ramblings.

In the land of humans, the word saint should mean nothing since we have long since established that saints, humans can never be.

The problem with Nigeria is the majority of Nigerians who choose to be deluded; this monorail ought never to have been started.
Re: Progress On Port Harcourt City Monorail by Kobojunkie: 2:36pm On Jun 02, 2012
yep. . .What is the sense in sinking over a billion dollars of money that could go to building a near solid passenger rail system into a few kilometers of monorail that transports about 200 people at a time?

I will be surprise if the project is completed .
Re: Progress On Port Harcourt City Monorail by Nobody: 11:58am On Oct 10, 2012
I live and work in PH and I can confidently tell you this monorail project is a scheme conceived to smartly loot the treasury of the state. For a governor that cannot fix the major roads in his state capital, this monorail can only be a white elephant project. The dude called Amaechi is a big let down and a great media fraud, you need to visit the state to understand how incompetent an individual can be, especially when everyone can see what an Akpabio is doing in Akwa ibom.

Please can jason123 or any other known (or unknown) Amaechi apologist post up-dated pictures of the mono-rail project?
I forgot, there's nothing to update because the project is where it was at the inception of this thread.

Which brings me to meat-pie heads like phantom.
What sayest thou about the still-birth nature of this project?
What sayest thou about the pot-hole infested bridges and roads in the City?
What sayest thou about your fraud of a governor who's more interested in flying his helicopter to places in Rivers state due to the shambolic nature of roads?
What sayest thou about roads that were done and are re-developing craters about a year after their completion due to shoddy work from "Rivers"contractors?

Arse-licker fraud.

Show me where I proclaimed the emboldened. If you can, then I will reckon with you.
Until then, you are nothing more than an algae growing in the gutter.
Now that you've seen how insincere your saviour Amaechi is, you want to discredit me with that weak Omehia reference.
Go and take viagra to enhance your libido and screw that miserable village runt you call your girlfriend, you impotent eunuch.

MINT!!!!
On the money.
Ask phantom how much has been spent on that eyesore of a project and you'll be shocked at how much it cost to erect pillars of concrete for about 3 kilometers.
And they want to say Amaechi is any better than Odili.

Clearly, we have LOST our senses. Otherwise, the comparison of governors should be based on value for every one naira and not this SUPERFICIAL tag of performing governors that is currently en vogue. On what basis do you tag the governor of Rivers or Akwa-Ibom or Lagos as performers? On the basis of roads and fly-over construction? NONSENSE! Even a primary 3 pupil, if given access to the kind of funds these 3 governors have, can perform as well if not better(if you minus looting). All it takes is to sign contracts for these projects to be done and a primary 3 pupil can do that effectively. We need to have much more intellectual discourse on these issues and not the BEER PARLOUR conversation currently on. We need to know the value the citizens of all the various states get for EVERY one naira spent. We need to know how many persons these governors lifted out of poverty, how many jobs have been created, how has their policies helped to lift much more people from low to middle class, by how much have they reduced maternal and child mortality, how have they improved the life expectancy of people of their states, etc. These are the issues we should engage in as far I'm concerned

the project has remianed about the way it is for over a year and half. which leads me to believe it was abandoned.
thanks to the recent fire on Amaechi's ass, work has resumed again.

I work with one of the companies involved in the project, I can authoritatively say that it is not a white elephant project.
By the time they finish, the project will justify the cost, especially as monorails are easy to maintain.
how far with the project now ?
