She's been crying all night, cry of pain. Warm water made her feel better with lots of petting, added paracetamol for headache the might have benocaused from the long and hard cries. We definitely have to go to the hospital as I can't take it anymore

Good evening Mamas. Please help I don't know the first aid to give my DD, apart from Paracetamol & vitamin C. She cut her inner lips today, it happened at her creche. Before now, she has been having fevers at night for like 3days cos she is teething. I normally use tepid water to clean her and give her paracetamol and she is better, but tonight, she is restless and the fever isn't going down. Please help.
Cc: soonest.

Then it isn't only teething. Pls take her to the hospital.

Godmother , encourage or advise your friend to step up their hunt for a job and their own accommodation quickly. She should not go there and relax even if her husband is relaxing as regards these things.
Its possible that because its his parents house, he might take things a bit slow. Forgetting that he has his wife and her comfort to consider.

There was a time, we relocated from one location to another because of a new job. We had to temporarily stay with my In-laws who are nice people. I was OK but I was stressed out with chores and expectations and so wanted us to get moving after two months. Hubby wanted to stay for one extra month and move comfortably with extra money. I objected and threatened to go to my parents house which was 20mins away for the remaining extra month. Personally, I love living in my own house and sleeping in my own bed. And I prefer to leave a place when the applause is still loud. Not when you have outworn your welcome.

Bottomline is they should have concrete plans to leave except they tell them not to bother. We had and even carried our hosts along in our search for a house.

Tell your friend her place is beside her husband.
If she is truly a "wife" she would go with him whether he is moving back to his parents house or into a mansion. Unless she is a girlfriend, then she is under no compunction to do so.

Not all in-laws are monsters, truth is most give it back to us harder than we give it to them.
I have been living with my in-laws for 5 years, in different apartments though but i can say that my in-laws are out of this world. In fact everyone knows I am the chief troubleshooter of the house.

Now it would be understandable if your friend has been less than nice to the in-laws in her days of glory or if her in-laws don't like her one bit. She will.be doing this for her husband, there has to be a plan in place. How long do we need to stay here? Do we move from her to our own house or from here to another rented place? What can we do jointly or independently to improve our finances.

Don't let her move in with you, unless you are ready to lose her friendship when it is time for her to move out.

Fever for 3 days? That's much o....it might be an infection, in such case the fever is in response to the infection and will keep rising.
Teething fever breaks in a day and will respond to paracetamol and sponge baths quickly.
Poor baby, was the cut much? Did they clean it properly?

Thank you Ma, she however has stopped sucking like she used to, she has cold and cough and we are using panda cold for that and vitamin C to boost her immune system because cold is a common thing in my family. Her mum is deeply worried about her reduced appetite. Could it have anything to do with teething symptoms?

Onegai

The crying stopped this morning. She's looking so radiant and playing like nothing happened overnight.... Lol

I understand doctors don't believe babies having teething problems, that they just simply ask one to treat the symptoms. How true?

Please take her to the hospital asap. Fever is not a sign of teething. Any fever over 48hrs can be dangerous and please insist they run a test before administering any drugs. She will be fine. Amen
Thank you Ma. I am taking her to the hospital this morning. Though she is better now, the fever just seem to surface at nights.

Take her to the hospital tomorrow. They will ask what level her fever has been, so do you have a thermometer? Just for a checkup. But yeah, Dr first and let's know what he says.

Thank you Ma. I have a digital thermometer at home and she reads 38. We are going to the hospital this morning.

Thank you Ma'am, we are on our way to the hospital. The cut wasn't that much, but since it is the inner lower lips, it's very uncomfortable for her. Yes, they did clean it properly and when we got home I cleaned it again admist her crying. I had to apply cold water to the swollen lips in the midnight from the advice of Dr. Google.

My friend is a little bit hot-tempered and a no-nonsense person, although in the almost 15 years I've known her I know she's not the type to loof for trouble, but she also can't lie low and watch someone 'ride' her. And then I can't remember which, but I think she said either her MIL or SIL is also hot tempered, which is actually the real reason for her reluctance. She's afraid they might clash after a while.

I think you already have your answers here! Particularly take note of what Tojued has said.

Your friend has already identified the potential triggers i.e. Her hot temper she will have to put a rein on it. My boss used to say sometimes we are so busy defending "our rights" we forget to protect "our lefts". She should forget any perceived rights she may have and stay on her lane. The spare time she has she should spend praying for thier finances to improve and not see whether her inlaws gave her attitude in 1979( Hope you get my drift)!

I believe in adapting to situations as they arise life sometimes flunctuates and we cannot just throw in the towel.

Thanks.
Please what type of homemade foods can I pack for him?

I never reach that stage o, but alphahandmaiden has been sharing some links with ideas for weaning foods.

Personally I plan to take out a portion of whatever I'm cooking for hubby and I in the morning (before I add salt and maggi), puree or mash and keep in a plate for him. That's one meal. Then he'll take cereals twice, and milk 3 times. Then I'll gradually increase to two meals, one cereal. Then stop mashing, so hopefully by the time he's a year old he'll be taking three normal meals to school.

That's my plan o, let's hope little oga is on the same wavelength with me.

Wise mamas in the house, I would appreciate your input in a matter. My childhood friend called me yesterday with an issue. She and her dh are having accommodation problems and the hubby had to relocate back to his parents house while she moved in with her elder sister whose husband is away. Her sister's hubby is about coming back and her sister has been politely telling her she needs to move.

She told her hubby and he asked her to move in with him; in his parents house. She's against the idea and in a way I support her cos I know how some Nigerians treat daughter-in-laws. She suggested moving in with me temporarily, but I had to tell her my dh won't agree. Now she's down and confused and she has to give her hubby the final reply tomorrow about moving in with her inlaws.

Mamas, how do you all see living with your inlaws? Personally, I don't support it but would love to know what others think.

This is not a pleasant decision but in all it is the duty of a wife to be with the husband where ever and all the time till death do them part.
However, sharing a roof with your inlaws is what every woman dread but I must tell you, it is not always that bad, if the Dil can see and take the in laws as her family most importantly the Mil as her mother and treat her as such.
The problem is that most Dil always have this belief that MiLs are all wicked and before the poor woman can even do anything bad to them they (Dil) have already started unleashing venom in self-defense.
But the truth is that, if you show someone love the person will in turn reciprocate love.
So let her, go there with a heart of love for every member of that family especial her Mil and they will have no choice but to reciprocate same. And before she know it, their financial issue will be sorted out and she and Dh will move to their home.

Good day Everyone. My princess is doing much better. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics for her saying that the fever was her her body fighting off an infection.
I dropped her at the creche and from my calls to them, she is doing just fine and playing with friends.
