Why is there a dropbox folder in /data/system/ and why is it filled with over 250mb of event logs?

You've been hacked by the NSA, LoL. But seriously it maybe a phishing attempt. Are you a dropbox user? Got to check mine o. It's in mine too! I am not a dropbox subscriber at all. Something is going on.

seems to me that something is harvesting info on your devices and sending them home.

This Post is for those using the One Plus one(OPO) device.. Having used most of the roms from mahdi rom based on kitkat to Euphoria based on lollipop to mention a few, Those are my observations and recommendations to avoid Frequent flashing..
For battery Life, most of the lollipop builds can give you that with average screen on time of 6hours..it can be better with few tweaks and optimisations...
For battery + features, none beats mahdi rom with battery life and stability as it's priority.. AICP trails behind having more features but sacrificing battery life by a minute amount..
And my personal favorite having tried all and sacrificing a few to get another is ported color OS international by komprado.. Battery life is sacrificed with a screen on time average of 4 hours plus.. It made that up with it's magnificent camera and sound.. The pictures and sound are the best I've seen in any device.. They'll blow your mind.... The sound is the well filtered, clear that somebody calls it a cd, it's that good.. The picture when zoomed has better clarity than all the cm based rom and even cm11s.. The camera without mincing words after comparison with my note 3 and an s5 is superior with better and crisp clarity.. Color OS uses the hardware of the one better than all others. Just my take and preference.. Other OPO users could say theirs

Just sign into the new bbm with your existing bb id, your contacts will be moved to the new device. You can only have it on one device at a time though so you will be signed out of your old bb when you sign into the new device.

Came across this while searching on it. Would be beneficial to those with tecno phones having "insufficient memory" issues.

/data/system/dropbox is not part
of "DropBox" it is part of the Android
OS DropBoxManager (not related at all
to "DropBox"wink.
This puts data from application
crashes and kernel logs and such in
this log directory. I know the market
uses this directory (See #4) as well,
probably to report application crashes.
You could probably remove the data in
this directory, but DO NOT delete the
directory and you may see logcat
errors from parts of the OS/Apps
looking for specific files in this
directory.
edit : I deleted everything from this
folder and rebooted my device
afterwards, I had no issues with any
applications, and it actually freed up
some space on the device.

Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by Leopantro: 10:34pm On Dec 21, 2014
Okay, more research came up with the below.

I have an issue with disappearing phone
storage. Over the course of a week I realized that I
was losing about 1MB a day. My phone would
basically be dormant and I would still see my
storage space dropping by this amount everyday.
Cache cleaning didn't work. Later I realized that
Android creates a bunch of log files in Data/
System/Dropbox that was responsible for the
disappearing phone storage trick I've been seeing
for a while now.
I know now that Google has incorporated into
Android as of the 2.2 iteration, a DropBox Manager
that's responsible for logging all of the events that
take place during the course of a running Android
session. Everything from what took place at boot to
force close details.

TO SOLVE THIS

The first thing I tried was changing the permissions
on the "Data/System/Dropbox" directory and it
worked. But I didn't use CHMOD and console
command line to do it.
I have a program called Root Explorer that allows
me to permanently change the permissions on any
file or folder I select. I set all of the offending
folders to read only and the log files stopped being
written to those folders.
These are the directories I set to read only:
1. "Data/System/Dropbox"
2. "Data/System/UsageStats"
3. "Data/Tombstones"
Since changing the permissions on these folders
my phone storage has stopped dwindling out of
control. No additional programming necessary.

Seems like any crash files and logcats all
get dumped in the data / tombstone files, after
more searching , one member with a Samsung
moment had a tombstone file 200 mb.

FOR NON ROOTED PHONES

You can download
connectbot from the market , for people with low
storage space warnings

Backup your former bbm with titanium backup, you get to keep your old pin and conversations.. Also backup up settings storage, it contains your android id, that's responsible for the pin change in devices... You can always restore the id after a flash or to a new device after you must have moved your backup folders to the new device.. Less I forget it's a paid app and you must be rooted...

That's rather risky o.... I'll advise you make a backup of your ROM before any further font changing.... To avoid stories that touch.......

Yes, cos when you encounter brick while changing fonts you'll need the backup to restore your phone
