Greedy Obasanjo To Lose 2,500 hectares Of Land Gbenga Daniel Gift-Daniel To Lose 100 Hectares Allocated To Himself

Posted: July 19, 2012 - 20:43

The insatiable greed of former President Olusegun Obasanjo was exposed on Thursday as a commission set up by the Ogun State government revealed that he was fraudulently allocated 2,250 hectares of land by the immediate past Governor of the state, Mr. Gbenga Daniel.

That allocation will now be cancelled.

Obasanjo, who already owns thousands of hectares of land throughout the state, both developed and undeveloped, was allocated the land by Mr. Daniel in Soseri village.

Mr. Daniel, no slouch in the greed department, helped himself to the spoils of office by awarding 100 hectares to a privately owned company, K&F Daniels Ltd, at Oke Odan.

He will also lose that allocation, among others.

These decisions follow the state government’s acceptance of the recommendation of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Land Allocations, Acquisitions, Sales and Concessions of Government Properties and Administration of Land Policies, Rules and Regulations Between January 2004 and May 29, 2011 and Other Matters Connected.

The commission recommended that all the agricultural land allocations of state property made in Ogun State between January 2004 and May 29, 2011 be cancelled.

Following the recommendation, the government has also revoked the allocation of land to Compass Newspaper, which is owned by Mr. Daniel.

The panel held that “the allocation made to this company at such gross under-value and the issuance of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to it before it paid any money for the land, were wrongful acts done contrary to established procedure and not in the public interest, and should therefore not be allowed to stand.”

It was also discovered that Daniel’s company, Western Publishing Company, got its C of O before it even paid for the land upon which its headquarters was built.

The C of O, numbered 025305 and registered as 12/12/676, was issued to the company on the 10th of March, 2008, when it had not paid for the land.

“It was stated that the price of the land as at the time it was bought was N24m, whereas Mr. Daniel merely paid N4m after he had signed the C of O for his company,” and the commission recommended that both the allocation and the Certificate of Occupancy be cancelled.

Among those who benefited from the last-minute gift-giving of land by Daniel were some of his former commissioners like Mrs. Folake Marcus-Bello (20 hectares), Lekan Bello (20 hectares) and Kehinde Sogunle (15 hectares).

2500 hactares! That's is enough land to land both of them in jail if there is anything close to a functioning juciary system in this country.
It is easy to see why the people of South West voted PDP out of power. . . Total corruption without remorse.

Your calculation is slightly wrong. The report gave 2,500 hectares not 25,000 hectares (used in your calculation) but all the same thats too much.

The greed exhibited by these politicians is just unimaginable. What on earth would 1 man want 150 000 plots of land for? Especially 1 that already has something more than that else where! Feudalism is coming to Nigeria.

THIS IS MR. ANTI-CORRUPTION HIMSELF!

https://www.nairaland.com/976728/obj-wants-bribe-givers-takers

I Know OBJ as a man who doesnt have a permanent friend or boy, if u mess up he will definitely treat your Bleep-up. Buh Is he saying he was not in the picture before the give and take , I tought Otedola is one of his boys, what do you think NLders, ok hear him

Against the backdrop of the bribery allegation between a member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Lawan and business mogul, Femi Otedola, over the fuel subsidy report, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said both the giver and taker of bribe must be punished.

Speaking to the The Guardian of London, Obasanjo said fighting corruption in Nigeria was not a one-night affair.

His words: “Fighting corruption is not a one-night affair. The givers of most of the corruption in Africa are from outside Africa. They do in Africa (things) they would not do in their own countries. In my part of the world, we have a saying that the man who carries a pot of palm oil from the ceiling is not the only thief. He has an accomplice in the man who helps him to bring it down. The giver and the taker are criminals, and they should be treated as such.”

Obasanjo told the newspaper that instead of saying Nigerian leaders lack accountability, the paper should say they are corrupt. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

“You are being euphemistic when you say lack of accountability. Call it corruption. There is no part of the world where corruption is absolutely eliminated. But (in other countries) corruption has not been a way of life. When you are found, you are dealt with. And that’s what we need.”

Obasanjo was in the UK to promote investment in Nigeria.

The former president who is working as a roving ambassador, facilitating firms’ entry into Nigeria and the rest of Africa grin grin grin said he believed that positive examples of business success would encourage avaricious minds to look for more legitimate routes to wealth.

He said: “I still believe in the opportunities that Africa affords to make legitimate money. Africa is one place I believe that if you are courageous enough, you get the money, you can invest and get 25 per cent return on your investment annually. There aren’t many places in the world where you can get that return.”

Fate has been kind to a man so horrible.

A man who almost died in jail, came out and swore to improve the prisons, but soon forgot his travails and became a despot.

Why i dislike him the most is his history with IWU of truncating the peoples choice in sham elections.

OBJ is a serious candidate for prison for the scams in power sector, halliburton deal, and numerous breaches of the constitution.

Only thing he ever did right was the framework for telecoms sector. That is ALL. The money from the auction of the license went down the rabbit hole as usual.

Baba this an eye-opener. They have planned to carry out this action after you might have joined your ancestors. This is a precursor of what awaits. Take action that will amount to willful disposition or the state will confiscate most of this your 'hard' earned wealth.

I agree with you totally. As for the introduction of telecoms, I believe that Nigeria was already ripe for it as at that time. Whether OBJ was president or not, it would have been introduced into this country. This man should hide his head in shame! But would this government prosecute him? ...
