PoliticsPDP Says Buhari’s Budget Tailored Towards Mortgaging Nigeria by 9jaclicktivist(op): 5:52pm On Dec 22, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes the N6.8 trillion 2016 federal budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday as a big fraud and executive conspiracy tailored towards mortgaging the future of the nation.
The party queried President Buhari’s decision to borrow N2 trillion, the biggest in the history of the nation as the height of recklessness and deceit from a government that trends on propaganda.
The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh on Tuesday berated the Federal Government for trying to use their bogus welfare programme and phantom capital projects as cover and conduit to syphon the funds to satisfy partisan interests, particularly to settle huge campaign debts.
“It is obvious that this budget is an extension of the campaign promises of the APC government, presented as a manifesto filled with bogus promises which implementation will be inconclusive, thereby allowing the APC to once again deny their promises.
“There has never been any known economy in the world where government deliberately mortgage the future of its nation by borrowing excessively to finance partisan interests while hiding under bogus welfare programmes. This is moreso important as the APC in reeling out their bogus campaign promises never informed Nigerians that they would mortgage their future through excessive borrowing.
“We have it on good authority that this is the first in the series of APC borrowings which would leave the future generation of Nigerians under the burden of huge debts after four years”
The PDP said the budget clearly shows that after seven months in power, President Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) are yet to differentiate between governance and campaign propaganda.
“By all standards, the 2016 budget, the first major economic policy outing of this government, is completely unrealistic and duplicitously embellished with impractical predications, a development that confirms fears by economy watchers and investors that this administration is obviously ill-equipped for governance.
“We are indeed shocked that President Buhari and his minister of information have come up with two different reasons for the current fuel crisis in the country. While we appreciate the President’s apology, we think it is high time he called this minister to order as his excessive propaganda and blame game are ridiculing this administration and the image of the nation.
“Furthermore, it is instructive to note the official endorsement of Mr. President to the devaluation of the naira as against his campaign promise of firming up the value of our currency even to the much vaunted one naira to one dollar.
“Does it mean that Mr. President lied his way to power, or that he did not understand the complexities of governance when he was making his false promises to Nigerians?
“In future, there is need to regulate campaign promises so that we will not end up with a government that promises to climb Mount Everest with bare hands and end up mortgaging our future with orchestrated borrowings.
“Finally, we want to request Mr. President to once again to involve experienced and well-tested hands in the management of the economy and budgeting processes. This economy is not for Mr. President, neither is it for the APC. The progress of the economy is for all Nigerians and as such, due care should taken to save ourselves from unrealistic and deceptive programmes.

PoliticsMedical Record Shows Hitler Only Had One Testicle by 9jaclicktivist(op): 7:01pm On Dec 21, 2015
A medical document shows that Adolf Hitler only had one testicle, German media said on Saturday, suggesting there is some truth after all to a popular British song that says the dictator had “only got one ball”.
There has long been speculation that Hitler was missing one testicle, with rumours circulating that he lost the other one during the Battle of the Somme in the First World War.
But a medical record from the time when Hitler was put in prison after the failed Munich beer hall putsch in 1923 shows he suffered from “right-side cryptorchidism” – a condition where a testicle fails to descend into the scrotum – media reports said.
The doctor’s notes were thought to have been missing for years but reappeared at an auction in 2010, at which point they were seized by authorities.
“The experienced medical officer immediately recognised the condition!” top-selling newspaper Bild quoted historian Peter Fleischmann, who has studied the record, as saying.
Fleischmann could not immediately be reached for comment.

PoliticsI Will Publish Names Of Looters Currently Returning Funds - President Buhari. by 9jaclicktivist(op): 5:04pm On Dec 11, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that he will publish the names of treasury looters who are currently returning stolen money.
According to THE CABLE, President Buhari made the promise while speaking at the 15th session of the Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation lecture at the International Conference Centre, in Abuja.
He said, ''We have taken steps towards recovering a reasonable amount of the money that was looted or misappropriated from public coffers. Investigations are ongoing on public officers who served, or are still serving, and those whose conduct are questionable will be compelled to accept the path of honour and surrender their loot''.
''As I stated recently, a good number of people who abused their positions are voluntarily returning the illicit funds. I have heard it said that we should disclose the names of the people, and the amount returned. Yes, in due course, the Central Bank of Nigeria will make information available to the public on the surrendered funds, but I must remark that it is yet early days, and any disclosure now may jeopardize the possibility of bigger recoveries. But we owe Nigerians adequate information, and it shall come in due course. It is part of the collective effort to change our land from the bastion of corruption it currently is, to a place of probity and transparency.
''Quite frankly, the anti-corruption war is not strictly about me as a person, it is about building a country where our children, and the forthcoming generations, can live in peace and prosperity. When you see dilapidated infrastructure round the country, it is often the consequence of corruption.
''Poor healthcare, collapsed education, lack of public utilities, decayed social services, are all products of corruption, as those entrusted with public resources put them in their private pockets. That must stop, if we want a new Nigeria. And that was why I said at another forum that people need not fear me, but they must fear the consequences of their actions. Corrupt acts will always be punished, and there will be no friend, no foe. We will strive to do what is fair and just at all times, but people who refuse to embrace probity should have every cause to fear.”

Foreign AffairsTanzania President John Magufuli Helps Clean Streets(pics) by 9jaclicktivist(op): 8:49pm On Dec 09, 2015
Tanzania's new President John Magufuli has joined hundreds of residents in the main city Dar es Salaam to take part in a public clean-up operation.
Mr Magufuli picked up rubbish from the street outside State House as part of the scheme, which he had ordered to replace independence day celebrations.
The move is being seen as symbolic of the president's promise to tackle corruption, our correspondent says.
Thousands of people across Tanzania are reported to have joined the clean-up.
Last month, Mr Magufuli cancelled traditional independence day celebrations, which usually include a military parade and concert, saying it would be "shameful" to spend huge sums of money while the country was facing a serious cholera outbreak.
"Let us work together to keep our country, cities, homes and workplaces clean, safe and healthy," Mr Magufuli told a crowd of surprised onlookers as he picked up rubbish off the street, AFP news agency reports.
"Tanzania has changed - this is a new Tanzania," one resident told AFP, on a break from cleaning up the city's public beach.
Since coming to power in October, Mr Magufuli, nicknamed "The Bulldozer" for his no-nonsense approach, has announced a range of cost-cutting measures, including a ban on unnecessary foreign travel by government officials.
The hashtag #WhatWouldMagufuliDo , coined after the initial cancellation of festivities last month, has been trending on social media in Tanzania and across East Africa, as people come up with their own money-saving initiatives:
Last month, Mr Magufuli ordered the cost of a party to inaugurate the new parliament to be slashed from $100,000 (£66,000) to $7,000.
He also sacked the head of the main state hospital after finding patients sleeping on the floor during a surprise visit to the facility.

Foreign AffairsDonald Trump Stripped Of Robert Gordon University Honorary Degree by 9jaclicktivist(op): 8:32pm On Dec 09, 2015
Donald Trump has been stripped of his honorary degree from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
It comes after the businessman sparked outrage in the US after saying there should be a “total and complete shutdown” of Muslims entering the country.
Nearly 68,000 people signed an online petition calling for RGU to strip the Republican presidential candidate of his Doctorate of Business Administration, which he was awarded in October 2010.
University principal Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski said last night he was considering the university’s position.
But it has now been confirmed he is to be stripped of the honour.
A spokesman for RGU said: “In 2010 Robert Gordon University awarded an honourary DBA to Mr Donald Trump, in recognition of his achievements as an entrepreneur and businessman.
“In the court of the current US election campaign, Mr Trump has made a number of statements that are wholly incompatible with the ehtos and values of the university.
“The university has therefore decided to revoke its award of the honorary degree.”
The degree was awarded when Mr Trump had been building his £750 million golf course in Menie and RGU said it had chosen to confer the honour in recognition of his business acumen, entrepreneurial vision and the long-term future his company had planned in the north-east.

PoliticsIweala, Gates, Mo Ibrahim Receive International Award For Service To Humanity by 9jaclicktivist(op): 2:52pm On Dec 04, 2015
Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was one of the distinguished recipients honoured at an all-star event in New York on December 1 for services to humanity and the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS.
She received the award from two respected international advocacy groups, ONE and RED, alongside Bill & Melinda Gates, philanthropist Mo Ibrahim and former New York Mayor and media mogul, Michael Bloomberg.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala and her co-honorees were recognized at a grand event marking the tenth anniversary of the advocacy groups.
Former US President Bill Clinton and current Vice President Joe Biden were in attendance.
Top comedian and CNN presenter, Trevor Noah host the event.
In her response to the honor, Okonjo-Iweala said “I thank ONE and (RED) for this recognition. It is an inspiration to work harder on the issues of social and economic development that have always been my passion. I’m also grateful to my country for the opportunities to serve. I will always be proud to be a Nigerian.”
ONE is an international campaigning and advocacy organization of more than 7 million people taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
It was co-founded by Bono, to raise public awareness and work with political leaders to combat AIDS and preventable diseases, increase investments in agriculture and nutrition, and demand greater transparency so governments are accountable to their citizens.
ONE works closely with African activists and policymakers as they fight corruption, promote poverty-fighting priorities, monitor the use of aid, and help build civil society and economic development. ONE’s work is strictly politically non-partisan.
(RED) was founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to make it easy for people and businesses to join the fight against the deadly virus.
Throughout the past decade, (RED) has raised more than $320 million with the help of companies like Apple and Coca Cola towards the fight against HIV.

Politics2years Jail For Social Media Activists? Don by 9jaclicktivist(op):
As the communications landscape gets denser, more complex, and more participatory, the networked population is gaining greater access to information, more opportunities to engage in public speech, and an enhanced ability to undertake collective action. In the political arena, In a flash I remember those days when power belongs to the people, I cannot forget how freedom of speech became a blessing to this new set of politicians clamouring a 2 years jail term for Activists accros the country, Despite any perceived mixed record, social media have become coordinating tools for nearly all of the world's political movements, just as most of the world's authoritarian governments (and, alarmingly, an increasing number of democratic ones) are trying to limit access to it.
It overestimates the value of broadcast media while underestimating the value of media that allow citizens to communicate privately among themselves.
Nigeria government overestimates the value of access to information, particularly information hosted in the West, while underestimating the value of tools for local coordination. And it overestimates the importance of computers while underestimating the importance of simpler tools, such as cell phones.
The instrumental approach can also be dangerous. Consider the debacle around the proposed censorship: only a Dictatorial and Authoritarian governments stifle communication among their citizens because they fear, correctly, that a better-coordinated populace would constrain their ability to act without oversight.
Despite this basic truth that communicative freedom is good for political freedom, the instrumental mode of Internet statecraft is still problematic. It is difficult for outsiders to understand the local conditions of dissent. External support runs the risk of tainting even peaceful opposition as demonizing elements, all critics becomes enemies of the Government, Dissidents can be exposed by the unintended effects of media tools, demands for Internet freedom abroad can vary from country to country, depending on the importance of the relationship, leading to cynicism about its motives, but here the motive is No criticism

Why Heavens May Fall

Factually, ability of Social Media groups to create and disseminate tweets, post or literature and political documents, even with simple photocopiers, provided a visible alternative to the a weak regimes . For large groups of citizens our country, the political and, even more important, economic bankruptcy of the government was no longer an open secret but a public fact because of social media. This will make it difficult and then impossible for such regime to order their troops to take on such large groups, and if they try it won't end well.
Thus, there will be a shift in the balance of power between the state and civil society, even the brutal Abacha of cursed memory tried and failed.
Social media alone do not change people's minds; instead, there is a two-step process. Opinions are first transmitted by the media, and then they get echoed by friends, family members, and colleagues. It is in this second, social step that political opinions are formed. This is the step in which the Internet in general, and social media in particular, can make a difference. As with the printing press, the Internet spreads not just media consumption but media production as well, it allows people to privately and publicly articulate and debate a welter of conflicting views.
A slowly developing public sphere, where public opinion relies on both media and conversation, is the core of the environmental view of Internet freedom. As opposed to the self-aggrandizing view that the West holds the source code for democracy , and if it were only made accessible, the remaining autocratic states would crumble, the environmental view assumes that little political change happens without the dissemination and adoption of ideas and opinions in the public sphere. Access to information is far less important, politically, than access to conversation. Moreover, a public sphere is more likely to emerge in a society as a result of people's dissatisfaction with matters of economics or day-to-day governance than from their embrace of abstract political ideals.
My two responses to the FG, Senate and information Minister dilemma which are censorship and propaganda is neither of these is an effective source of control as the enforced silence of the citizens. The state will censor critics or produce propaganda as it needs to, but both of those actions have higher costs than simply not having any critics to silence or reply to in the first place. But if a government were to shut down Internet access or ban cell phones, it would risk radicalizing otherwise pro-regime citizens or harming the economy.
The FGs dilemma exists in part because political speech and apolitical speech are not mutually exclusive.
In fact, the adoption of these tools (especially cell phones) as a way to coordinate and document real-world action is so ubiquitous that it will probably be a part of all future political movements.
This obviously does not mean that every political movement that uses these tools will succeed, because the state has not lost the power to react. This points to the second, and much more serious, critique of social media as tools for political improvement namely, that the state is gaining increasingly sophisticated means of monitoring, interdicting, or co-opting these tools. Shutting down the communications grids to deny dissidents the ability to coordinate in real time and broadcast documentation of an event. This strategy also activates the conservative dilemma, creating a short-term risk of alerting the population at large to political conflict. So I am imploring the FG to think twice before approving such bills, Its great to use another medium in controlling and curbing or censoring the media, Not with jailing sentencing.

Embattled former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate minority leader in Lagos on Sunday November 22, 2015 knelt down before Alhaji Lai Mohammudu and with a sad facial expression begging the All Progressives Congress (APC) to forgive him of his looting of Akwa Ibom State resources under his tenure and the criminally rigging of April 11, 2015 gubernatorial election in the state in the favour of Udom Emmanuel.

Our correspondent reported that distablized Akpabio was moody and helpless at Southern Sun Hotel, Ikoyi Lagos with some members of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and State Exco kneeling down before Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

“We are now interested in joining APC. Tell Mr. President that Akwa Ibom State is now ready to play national politics. I regret my actions while in office as the Governor.” Sen. Akpabio said.

However, the minister of Information assured Akpabio that APC government led by President Mohammadu Buhari shall not fail to prosecute all electoral offenders in Nigeria. He says the request for Akpabio and others to join the majority party ‘ll be communicated to Mr. President and APC national leadership but advised that Akpabio and others who intend to join APC should wait until all election litigations and all cases in courts instituted by Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial candidate in April 11, 2015, Mr. Umana Okon Umana and other APC candidates in the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate are determined and judgement given by the Appeal and Supreme Courts respectively.

Our reporter reports that Sen. Akpabio confessed before the former APC spokesperson that he is ready to fund APC in Akwa Ibom State and announced there and them, the donation of sum of 500 million naira only when his request to join APC is granted.

How many times do we need to repeat to humans that a good name towers above everything?

PoliticsYouth Led Adult Mentored, Mr Dalong: Youths Are The New Waves By @9jaclicktivist by 9jaclicktivist(op): 6:24pm On Nov 13, 2015
Dear Minister Dalong,

I congratulate you on your new office as the new minister for youth and sport but I have to be blunt on our challenges and the problems ahead of you so you could garner solution unto them quickly.
Sir, Nigerian Youths were designed to do, not watch. We arise to create, not spectate. It is the responsibility of our Parent and the Government to train us on how to lead today not someday, how to exhibit our talent with sponsorship, how to turn our ideas to creativity and how to turn our innovation to production.
Today most youths are cultivating adult allies to mentor but news of the bad past, the corrupt class, those who died with great ideas, those whose innovation were brushed aside into eternal dustbin and those athletes who never get honoured and many more have thrown them into the backlight with confusion and vices of all evil sort, we heard about how Nigeria left the ace (www) internet developer Philip Eameguali unhelp, they heard about how the whites hijacked him and compensated his effort, Now many of them prefer to throw the innovation and ideas abroad, none is ready to serve its fatherland, Youths have always lack the guide, and support, yet we are the bain of National and Economic development, the largest in the labour force and also key to leadership development and success, I heard you and your team have come to change those problems facing us, as a matter of fact, Notwithstanding all we had gone through, youths are today the new waves, they have the greatest pact and part of energy, labour and centrifugal force that keeps the Nation moving, from Information and technology to Fashion, Sport and Entertainment, it all rested on our shoulders and it is the project and business of the government to empower us the more, to uphold our nation with love and strength straight from the heart. I can’t write this without sending a great shout out to our sport sector that have really soared high and made us proud in recent times, Today, all we are saying is that you should change our bad past, do your best as a the minister in charge of the future, this is your ultimate service for the generations to come as we youths are the leaders of tommorrow, the fundamental of Nigeria’s future is in your hand Mr Dalong. Get it right and don’t failed the other generation likewise unlike your predecessors, Youth is the new waves, deal with us in new ways.
