Look, as I said it before, i'll say it again, hip-hop is on serious life support and hanging on by a thread of hair. At the same time hip-pop is emerging. GOSPEL HIP-HOP IS THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE FOR ME!!! |
I think theres alot of pressure on music artist everywhere when you have such a success or big hit early in your career, and its not fair to them. I think its about the public perception. Tuface for example. His African queen was such a huge success, that if he doesnt do another African queen, even if his next album is better, people will still say he fell off. So its very hard to stay on top. I guess theres only so much an artist can do. |
I'm not saying that they killed hiphop, but because they are such a major part of hiphop, they play a part in it. Jay-z for example, if the new generation are going to follow after him, that means their will not be anymore creativity in rhymes. All he does is to take what other people have already said in the past and say it again. There's nothing wrong with borrowing a line here and there, or borrowing a style here and there, but to take what has already been done in every song, now thats really getting out of hand. And didnt doesnt even write rhymes, he writes checks. Dont get me wrong, I respect their business, but I just have to say that they also contributed to where hip-pop is right now. (and 50 cent too). |
Look, Soulja Boy is not the only one poisening the minds of kids, hip-hop has been dead for a while. And yes you can blame it on Jay-Z, Diddy, and the rest. I guess there's no need of trying to keep it alive. We should have a new genre called hip-pop because the radio stations are poisoning the mind of people to think that garbage is hiphop, when the real hip-hopers are out there. That's why I only listen to gospel hip-hop now, atleast those guys are talking about something more sensible, positive, and something I can relate to. |
Lil' Ayo's music |
First of all, you may not know the complete details of his contract. Secondly, you have to remember that it is still business at the end of the day. That happens everywhere in the world. That's part of the price of fame. |
Well I know there's supposed to be something going on in the md/dc/va area on sunday at Fuzion in Bethesda. http://www.nrconline.com/reunion/index.php |
What events are going on in your city for this Nigerian Indepence day weekend? |
Y'all need to check out http://www.myspace.com/lilayo |
Well he's actually the C.E.O of a gospel record label Kulley Records. I think they only do gospel music. |
Baro, your independent entertainment link doesn't work. As for the African Home, I think It's a great idea. I actually know the C.E.O of a new record label. |
That's because people dont know what is going on in the music industry, they only look at past success. I knew that Kanye had a very good chance to defeat 50 cent, but to beat him by almost 300,000 copies, that's more than defeat, that's flugging. I guess it shows that good music and a loyal fan base will altimately prevail at the end of the day. I'm proud of Kanye West. |
Is there some type of link for him so I can hear for myself? |
It's not working for me. A really hot gospel rapper is Lil' Ayo. Check him out at http://www.myspace.com/lilayo |
Lil' Ayo. He's definately among the come up that people will love. |
I also understand what you guys are saying, but one thing I have to say is that you cant just pick on hip-hop because any type of music can be demonic from the message. Even a gospel music can be demonic if the devil is behind it. What Lil Ayo said is interesting with what we think about Gospel Hip-Hop. I didnt hear an answer on that from Drea. I've heard his album and I think its amazing because it relates to the young people. In a way, he's also speaking their language but telling the truth at the same time. I'm now becoming a fan of Gospel Hip-Hop foreal. |
And you're right, Cam is a joke. However I think there's gonna be a new beef between Dipset and G-Unit which i wouldnt be shocked. Actually this is something i knew would happen along time ago. During the weekend at some show back stage, there was alittle altercation with Jim Jones and Tony Yayo, so its coming. Plus Mase is rolling with G-unit and you know there feelings about Mase. |
I dont like Cam'ron, but I thought he exposed Jay-z for what he really is. Part of the reason how he was able to do so is because Dame had his back, so obviously he must be telling Cam something that we dont know. I guess that's why Jay really dont go back at him, but doing subliminals. I think if they battled toe for toe, it'll probably be a close fight, but I think Jay would edge out Cam at the end. |
LOL, that is so true. I guess it's why he keeps pushing it back, and there's still no buzz. Now he wants to start beef with Nas and Game to get some type of buzz. He's a joke to me. |
It's like you guys are forgetting one thing. Jay-z didn't do all this by himself. When he was alone, nobody gave a **** about him. Then when Dame and Biggs came along with their money and investment, all this started happening. Now, how does Jay give back to them, he cuts them loose. Yes you can say he gave to this and that, and that's good, i'm proud of him for that. However for you to say he's the only one that does something like that is very naive. If i was giving back like that, i'd rather not have it publicized. Alot of people give a whole lot more than he does, but you'll never hear it. Now when he gives, everybody and their momma will hear about it. Look, if Dame and Biggs had Nas instead, trust me, alot of things would be different now. |
How can you say Nas is kissing his azz when Jay-z has always, and is still on Nas' D**k. Nas doesnt have anything to prove to anyone, when Jay-z tried to sneak attack him, he got ethered. You see, in order for Jay-z to be considered king of NY, Nas had to go, but he messed up by going at Nas. Lets see him put out an album with no named up and coming producers, and without biting anyone's rhymes (like he does 24/7), and we'll see how good he really is. |
Honestly, I dont think it'll do as good as the first one. There's so many factors that are different from now and the first album. The hands up song could've been better. The beat is ok, but I thought his lyrics sounded boring. |
Once again, you guys really need to get yall facts straight before typing something. He didnt sell 7 million. He only sold 3 million in the US. Dont forget, it was a double disc album, which means it's calculated twice as much. For example, if you go to the store and purchace one double album, it's recorded as the artist selling 2 albums. So if he sold 3 million of his Blueprint 2, that means he really sold 1.5 million copies. Now i know you think i'm making this up, so i've attatched prove of all his record sales here. Enjoy http://www.rockonthenet.com/artists-j/jayz_main.htm |
@ babyboyinc, I dont know what you've been smoking foreal. It's like your concept is backwards. Yes I agree you cant compare him with the dead, but how can you say the Black Album is like the bible and no one has done that If you look closely, since R. Kelly started working with him, his own album sales are not as good as earlier in his career. Pharel doesnt keep going to him, its the other way around. Did you watch fade the black, because if you did, you would know his strategy for recording the Black Album 'that you called the bible'. He goes to guys like Pharrel, Timbaland, Kanye, and others for help. Its not all him. Most of the time in music, its the producers who really writes a song. If you noticed in the song Lucifer, Kanye is the one that told him to sing the bridge how he sang it 'according to the movie'. All rappers do is rap most of the time. He just happen to surround himself with the best known producers in the game. Oh, when Pac had a double cd (All eyez of me) = classic When Bigg had a double cd (Life after death) = classic Jay-z's double cd = well it was ok. |
But if you say he's the best commercial artist, what basis are you judging it from? If you say record sales (which is heavy in commercial industry), he didnt sell the most. If you say lyrics, he doesnt have the best lyrics. So what are we judging it from? |
Yeah and let me guess, he also wrote for BIG, Snoop, Nas, Slick Rick, BG, and more , Please dont go there. And if he's such a great ghost writer, then why couldn't he gost write for other artist under ROC to help them go platinum. All those guys flopped bad. The only artist to ever go platinum under ROC was Cam'ron and Kanye West. You can count Kanye because he's doing his own thing. Now defend that. |
As I said, he's a biter and definately not a writer. Cam'ron already exposed him for that. |
I heavily disagree. All he does is bites other people's rhymes on sampled old songs by Kanye West. If you think about it, anyone can say what someone else already said. |
You people are getting it twisted. As far as song-writing, it goes to 50. As far as lyrics, it goes to Game. I've never seen anyone like 50. Why doesnt he go around telling people that he wrote songs for Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Tony Yayo and the rest of the guys? Why does he have to pick on Game? The answer is because Game outsold all of them. 50 is not real. |
wow, I really like your music, especially track six Whateva man. I'm about to become a very big fan of yours. I have to let my friends know. |
