I totally agree with the last part, i think loosing this game was not probably that bad, we now know the match up and most of their tactics, after trailing over 20 points we only lost by 6, i am sure if we had a good start(starting rui) we would have won.

And AD scoring 40 seems so easy, nuggets paint is easy and no one can guard him, he can keep dropping that everynight.

In fact I'd argue this was the worst type of loss for the Lakers. A game Rui and Rivers combined for 40. AD and Bron combined for 66 and you shot 45% from 3.

If you had gotten blown out chances are the Nuggets come into Game 2 complacent and not needing adjustments. Could have easily played possum. Now the Nuggets realize they must improve.

Not only that AD is facing another guy that can match his offensive output. Basically canceling each other out. In fact the aim should be to get Jokic off the floor as often as possible. That's the only way his 40pts will matter

If you are the Lakers, despite the loss, you should be happy with how the game ended. They have absolutely no answer for AD, not many teams in the league do anyways!

Nuggets defense is papier mache. The Lakers and AD will feast. Key is Jokic and how much foul trouble can he avoid moving forward. Jokic likely neutralizes AD's production but he can't do it from the bench. So any game he gets into foul trouble the Nuggets will be in deep kak.

AD has to keep being super aggressive and draw fouls this series cause if Jokic plays his regular minutes he just does too much else that he doesn't even need to score big to kill you, he can simply decide he wants to go for 15 and dish 20 assists. AD will be unable to match that

We're not in disagreement. That's why I said if they can win both games in Denver then I like their chances because this Nuggets team I don't trust them with adversity. From a physical skillset standpoint the Nuggets have enough to win even with the Lakers being favorites

Why I felt confident if the Nuggets can win both games at home they win the series is because I knew the Lakers would give them hell, neither win was going to come easy. So passing that test would tell me about their mentals and put pressure back on Lakers. Nuggets will play loose with nothing to lose and this is where they thrive, when they have nothing to lose

And you're right they will not just keep spamming 3s and hope for the best. I think this helps and gives them more ways to win

Can you think of any other duo where two players contribute at such high clip and one player gets all the credit

The difference is the Nuggets at least have some size and can compete even with less athleticism The free throw disparity will also not be there unlike the Warriors series. I can’t disagree with any of your thoughts. He plays hard and easy to slot into any lineup the chooses. On defense he can switch 1-4 and 5 in some instances which is a coaches delight. Is he really playing at 6M/yr?

I've noticed there are some really good players that routinely get underpaid everywhere they go. I don't know if it's their representation or whatever but they just never get their worth relative to their contemporaries, just look at that same team Aaron Gordon is there and probably makes 3x more despite his very limited skillset
