The only reason I will play Gomez is because its South Korea and his physicality might be useful against the Asians. I think you can get away with playing without a traditional DM against Korea. Prime Khedira was a beast and better than Gundogan or Goretzka in NT colors but that Khedira is dead and gone.

Tough to see Loew going to Goretzka barring injuries.

If I would start Gomez it would be because of his smart link up play and intelligent movement in the box and not necessarily his physicality. Those Koreans no need isan. Mueller can interchange with the likes of Reus and Werner so his playing on the wing might not be a death blow

Low should play 2 CMs and not depend on his CBs to carry the ball forward. Most times German players are all in the opponent box or around and waiting for the CBs to do the ball moving into attack. In the course of play you will then see Boateng so far forward into the opponents half. That should be the job of CM

I think we have to also consider the opposition who choose to sit back and not come forward. Though this has to be done in moderation

Some of the spaces left behind was just suicidal. However both know why the CMs are not carrying the ball forward. The most dominant CM is a sideways pass merchant.

Maybe a full back or the DM stays behind when the two CBs are advancing

I wasn't impressed by Gomez so I probably wouldn't start him. He needs chances put on a plate for him and there's no guarantee he would score them as he showed yesterday

I'd still go with a front 3 of Reus-Mueller-Werner. All 3 interchangeable during the course of the match.

I'd also consider a Gundogan-Kroos-Rudy midfield with Gundogan and Rudy forming the double pivot. Kroos's lazy passes are less liable to hurt the team from the #10 position

Despite the fact that kroos had a hand in Sweden goal and misplaced a few passes doesn't mean he didn't try enough from open play... I think towards the last 15 minutes, he started giving more adventurous passes, both the change of playing he switched to reus which he miscued and that golden pass to Gomez which he just had to direct his header,but no, he headed it straight at Olsen...even when they were pressing for the winner, there were many times kroos increased the tempo of his passing for a quick 1 2,but his teammates would dull the attack.. I was even angry with gundogan, his drive that he's known for was not seen, he was just playing safe and giving normal side passes...
I think it's time loew finds a way to start Brandt,draxler should be dropped from the starting lineup..

Since I started supporting Germany 2002,this is the most unbalanced team they have produced at a major tournament,no shield for the defense at all, the fullbacks just attack without caution thereby exposing the defense... Loew should find a player to strike that balance and shield that defense.. They really miss schweinsteiger

Like you said he only started being creative with the game almost up. He did very little in the first 60 mins of the game, it took the mobility of guys like Werner and Reus to unlock Sweden for the first goal.

Gundogan did precious little and ironically Julian Brandt who came on in the 86th was more productive than he was.

The problem is Loew is playing favorites! His favorites are letting him down and it has turned his tactics and formation upside down. Why are the fullbacks bombing forward? Cos the likes of Oezil, Draxler and Mueller are not doing their jobs! The question now is how does he bench all 3 without looking stewpid? And that's not even mentioning Khedira who is supposed to shield the defense

Schweini is sorely missed. He was a big tournament player who could do it all in that midfield. A midfield General

Come to think of it, if Ronaldo played the way Messi played, took Portugal to the final and lost, he would have probably won it and am sure there wont be any fuss from your side.

There would be fuss if I didn't think Ronaldo deserved it. I was one of those that was up in arms when Ronaldo won WPOTY in 2013 same way I didn't believe Messi deserved the WPOTY in 2010. I'm not partial

That's my issue. I think they are being overtly emotional rather than look to teams that can give them the best assets regardless of their conference.
