airmark: I hope you are not shaking the table too early for your mentor. You forgot how he rolls, as regards winning or playing world cup final as the most important? I don't want to remind you his view. When I question your intelligence now it would sound like I'm insulting you. A center forward failed to score a single goal in 6 games and you're trying to remind me of views Which views do you need to know that Giroud has been the worst #9 at this World cup airmark: You are ridiculous. Pavard for his one-off? Tolisso who was not good enough to start the semis? Rebic with his epileptic performances? He even missed alot of chances against England. You are a joke. They are average joes carried by Modric, Rakitic, Subasic and co.
Maybe one or none of these would make world cup best XI because they didn't deliver anything spectacular, consistently enough. One off? Is this one alright at all? You asked for crucial contribution I gave it to you and you're still yarning dust shamelessly. Wetin concern me with World Cup best XI? I listed 4 players who made important contributions to help their team win and you're busy frothing in the mouth. You must be senile! Are Modric, Subasic, Rakitic from the EPL? See how this omugo is famzing. Agbaya alailojuti Giroud, Pogba, Lovren, Kante, Mendy = 0 Goals. |

afrodoc2: They have been unlucky but you may be right to an extent too. The whole nation (including the players) has been wired to believe a single player will do a Maradona and win the cup singlehandedly. And every 4 years the real Maradona comes out to heap more pressure on the team. The 02 to 10 teams were affected by coaching errors, now the team is just not good enough. This is largely true to an extent but this speaks to their mental midgetry as well. Remember 94? A washed up 34 yo Maradona got tossed out of the competition and they got beaten by Bulgaria and Romania. Even with the coaching errors which IMO were minimal, especially in 02 and 06 they were too talented to fail that badly. Defense - Ayala, Samuel, Sorin, Zanetti. Midfield - Veron, Riquelme, Simeone, Aimar, Ortega We all know about their attack. . For me they were a bunch of bottlers tbvh |

I am sure of Kante, Lloris, Pogba, Giroud, Lovren starting the match, list those carry along players from Germany and i will tell you players carrying them. You're are not even ashamed to mention Giroud the worst striker at this World Cup airmark: We are talking about quality now, not quantity, since the two leagues tied in quantity you dolt.
When you have majority of burnthisleaguedown reps, contributing little or nothing, it should tell you that they are being carried by the stars in their teams. Players like Tolisso should only be allowed to touch the world cup once during celebration(no picture with family members), if France win it. You don't know when to stop yarning megedefegede. The only game Tolisso started he beasted and provided an assist Pavard another Bundesliga product scored the crucial equalizer that brought France level vs Argentina. Rebic started the demolition job against same Argentina. Kramaric tied the game vs Russia. Meanwhile all the players you listed combined 0 goals!! So who is carrying who? |

afrodoc2: On your first 2 points i think you are spot on. In terms of the Argentine players, i think they have had an unusual run of bad luck in terms of coaching and the final make up of the squad and in some ways it even extends to today.
Take for example the 2002 team in which the coach persisted in playing through an aged Batistuta when you had younger players like Claudio Lopez, Kily Gonzales and Crespo in the squad. Then he also went picked an unbalanced squad with 4 or 5 playmakers (Ortega, Veron, Gallardo, Aimar) to the world cup cos they were the best players.
In 2006 the coach inexplicably took out Riquelme and Crespo in a match they were leading against Germany and left Messi on the bench and you know what happened next. That was a case of the coach blowing it, not the players.
2010 world cup was wasted by taking an alcoholic and junkie coach in Maradona who wasted a slot on the team on his aged Boca drinking companion Martin Palermo.
As an aside, do you notice how Argentina had too many playmakers about 15yrs ago and not enough strikers while now they have too many strikers and no playmakers. Coaching is definitely a factor but considering how well they do at age grade level you start to wonder if them sef dey use football age like we do. For 2002 I think it would have been tough to sit a National team icon like Batistuta but Crespo is the only guy I would have played ahead of him. I think Kily was a midfielder if na the Valencia Kily you dey talk. Lopez had a poor World cup. Overall they had a very good squad if you ask me because I can recall it was them and France that were the top 2 favorites going to that WC For 2006 you might be right but Argentina's goal came from a setpiece in the first half. Riquelme's influence had waned in the second so I wouldn't blame the coach for taking out a luxury player like Riquelme when trying to defend a lead vs the home team. I agree he could have brought on Messi but Messi was only 18, there's no telling if he would have had an impact or not We can agree on 2010. However when a team keeps falling on its arse even against inferior opposition like England and Sweden in 02 and Germany in 06 and 10 then you just can't rule out mental midgetry Their problem is a weird one but I still feel they aren't the only country that deals with an imbalance in their squad of some sort |

afrodoc2: Riquelme was one of the most artistic playmakers of the modern era and he could be effective too. He was a classical no 10 but was lacking in work rate and speed but 1st touch, close control dribbling, vision, passing range and selection, crossing and long range shooting were all world class.
He was just one of the players whose Barca careers Van Gaal derailed because of his (Van Gaal’s) stubbornness.
He never wanted him in the club and therefore rarely played him and when he did he played him out of position.
Stylistically he was like Valeron but better than Valeron. Talent level was at par with Mendietta.
Comparing him to Guti and especially Gago is laughable. Riquelme had a relatively short prime in Europe maybe 2 seasons or less, I think he balled more for Argentina than at club level He stayed for too long at Argentina. Had he come to Europe at a younger age the European aspects of the game would have been a lot easier for him to imbibe. In terms of naturally gifted talent I'd even say he was better than Mendieta but he didn't come to Europe in time. I also think that generation of Argentine players were mental midgets Aimar, Saviola, Riquelme |

Roland17: My problem with Pep and Sane is well on this forum established especially with Pep's decision to drop bench him earlier in the season because of free scoring Sterling. Sane is the best winger at City in my opinion but he does not score enough because he wants to create.
Pep is under a lot of pressure to succeed in England, consequently, he is more result oriented and that includes goals which Sterling gave him last season. Lol it is only at City you can get away with Sterling's wastefulness due to the chances they create. I don't even feel right calling him free-scoring |

That says a lot. Most of these sites y'all are praising now rated Hazard as one of the best performers.
You lot are free to choose whatever y'all want.
Neymar is home, Hazard's team dumped him out, Hazard is still in Russia and his country could be the 3rd best in the world.
He had shot on target against France. Agree or not.Na u sabi.

It's funny how y'all are not yapping about chances created.
As good as you want us to rate Neymar, he had a worse WC showing than Hazard had but no, let's crucify Hazard. I hope you have now learnt not to troll prematurely. You lot dragged Neymar with lots of glee but bar his disgraceful dives he was a lot better than Hazard in this match and definitely the last one. Shot on target Any goal attempt that: 1. a) Goes into the net 2. b) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's save 3. c) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man. Hazard didn't have 0 shot on target in yesterday's match like you said up there. How about Hazard shot on target that Varane headed out for corner. Hadn't been that varane didn't head the ball, that would have been a goal.
The French Team sat deep and were defending in most part of the game . If you really watch the match, you will know that Hazard was the one trying to make things happen.
