ToyinDipo: What of 2008, when he was destroying RF at RG
He could destroy RF on one leg at RG but this is the hardcourt which is supposed to be his weakest surface and the only surface Novak has any clear advantage

Djoker needs to break Nadal at some point or this game wouldn't last too long

Obi1kenobi: And so it begins! C'mon Rafa!!!

He's got to serve well today cos Djokovic is the best returner on tour and will certainly test Nadal's les poweful serve to the limit. Rafa also has to stay aggressive and stand closer to the baseline. If he concedes ground and retreats too far behind the baseline as his natural instinct dictates, the metronomic, aggressive game of the Djoker will take him apart. Nadal also has to be willing to go down the line on his forehand and backhand and avoid the comfort zone of his usual cross-court exchanges. Djokovic is favourite for this one in my opinion but I sure hope the Spanish matador proves me wrong. C'mon Rafa!!!
He has been doing that!

Lol if they had won it would have been inspite of the red card! They lost now so its because of the red card! Walahi Jimi Solanke dey learn work were una dey. Play by the rules! Its football/soccer not gridiron

*make I go watch Nadal vs Djokovic*

nateevs: Those who struggle to beat us fair and square at our weakest should be scared of the future rather than making mouth like they handed us a beating.
Fair and square?? At your weakest?? Hahahahaha! this is laughable so you feel Bayern was at their strongest? Who is at their strongest in Europe at this point? Certainly not Bayern that has been ravaged by injuries or still coming to grips with a new coach and system of play

biolabee: ^^^ Excellent points Sir,,,,
I really appreciate the points of Obi1kenobi who laid it on the poor lad or lass about the inherent racism in supporting an athlet plainly based on skin colour

The truth is that a lot of male athletes on the tennis circuit are complaining about this but dont want to be seen as rocking the establishment
Nadal has spent almost 13 hours on the court in the US open alone! Who knows how long tonight's game would go for? I doubt the women's draw spend 13 hours for all 4 grand slams combined

If you even want to play the marketability card Serena and Sharapova are the only bankable players out there
Sports › Re: Tennis ATP/WTA: DAVIS CUP 2013 THREAD... by A40(m): 2:16pm On Sep 09, 2013
sholay2011: But you didn't point that out in your previous post and now you're all over the place with stories of double and singles. Abeg, spare me that.

And I still believe your thinking is sexist. And if the prize money is equal. ..so what? undecided

Because Usain Bolt can run faster than Shelly Fraser-Pryce, so his medal shud be more of real gold compared to her? (Just like you said that 'Nadal or Nole are better than Serena' as a point that justifies your argument).

Mr Biolabee...e lo sun.
So are you saying Marta and Birgit Prinz should earn the same amount as say a Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo because they both play 90 mins? This is really laughable

It is actually sexist to suggest that a woman doing less than a man should get equal pay just because she's a woman

biolabee: The race question over supporting serena.. Interesting debate

She is a herald in a white dominated sport hence it is easy for blacks to Support her whole heartedly

For me more important than race is the equality of prize money which is illogical

Nadal nole no be mate with serena and sugarpova
I don't know how anyone in their right minds would watch gladiators like Nadal,Djokovic and Federer do battle and still argue that men and women deserve equal pay! Honestly it borders on insanity

Gender equality proponents and feminists ought to know where to draw the line!

My boy Nadal would give Djoker the business

Obi1kenobi: I'm a graduate of Electrical Engineering from one of the Federal institutions and I just completed my service in June but I've been unemployed since and I'm not getting any good breaks in the labour market with my 2:2 degree. Pretty much all the multinationals and other top employers won't even shortlist me to have a chance of proving myself sadly.

How much would a Masters Degree abroad improve my prospects in the labour market? I ask this because I wouldn't want my retired sponsors wasting millions of naira on a venture that may not prove advantageous. If I applied to the likes of KPMG or Nestle or Mobil who ALWAYS demand a 2:1, would they even consider the Masters degree at all? Please, give it to me straight. I can handle the truth and move on. undecided
Not by a lot! A Masters degree would certainly help but would not magically open doors for you by any means. Not with the proliferation of Msc holders in the unemployment market anyway.

Think of a Masters degree as a long-term investment in yourself and not something that might instantly bring in benefits and perhaps you might need to shy away from the multinationals for now and just focus on getting a decent place where you could get some work experience, handle some projects and improve your resume a few professional qualifications here and there wouldn't hurt either
obi1kenobi, I wish you'd just shut your sellout-ar.se up. See how shameless you are - salivating over a white woman while badmouthing a beauitful, inspirational black woman who has broke ground for black women in her sport. smh @ your minstrel-like worship of a white woman while many of the same white people view your race as subhuman. Nonsense.

Anyway, Serena's got this one in the bag. Black Power!
Stop bringing race into this matter please! Its disgustingly ignorant. Perhaps Ob1kenobi was a little OTT with his comments but still this race argument is not necessary

I make bold to say that even as good as the Red Bull is there is no driver on the grid that would churn out that same amount of consistency from that car race after race!

Alonso is running out of time now, we can officially strike out Hamilton and Kimi from the list those ones have zero hope of catching Seb

Djokovic wins but only just

Obi1kenobi: Madam, what kind of crude mentality is that? So you support people based on the colour of their skin? If all white people thought that way, who in the crowd would support Serena?

I support players whose style of play and whose personality appeals to me. Serena bulldozes her way through games with brutal tennis that lacks the guile and elegance of players like Justin Henin or Radwanska or Hingis in her prime or Steffi Graf. Her personality is quite ugly as well. Brash, abrasive, arrogant diva personality. She needs to learn to carry herself with the dignity of players like Federer, Nadal, Clijsters, and even her sister Venus.
Omode lo n se no mind am! I don't know why person go dey bring race enter this matter? I'm actually a fan of Serena which is the ironic thing

sholay2011: Bro...I'm so pro-Serena that I don't mind seeing a one-sided final so far it favours her. cool I want her to beat some records bfor she drops her racket.

I can watch a competitive final if Djokovic and Nadal eventually meet.
I don't think there's any full blooded black man that's not a fan of Serena too but I don't remember seeing a decent female's final for quite sometime! All I want to see is someone that would give Serena a run for her money I'm pro-Serena as well but I'm not obnoxious about it

What's their H2H record again? Serena owns Azarenka

Obi1kenobi: Women's tennis should have a boxing-style weight class. Serena is just too powerful for many of the poor, little girls. Brutal power.

Now unto the more interesting semis tomorrow. Djokovic-Stan is first off before Nadal takes on Gasquet. Two baseline grinders with double-handed backhands in Nadal and Djokovic taking on the fluid, elegant single-handed backhands of Richard and Stan respectively. You would of course fancy Nadal and Novak to come through those tests but if Stan can re-enact his form against Murray, he'll give Djokovic plenty to think about.
Djokovic had a lot of unforced errors against Youzhny if he tries that with Wawrinka there might be an upset

For the women's draw too bad the people that consistently gave Serena fits (Clijsters,Henin) are no longer on the tour! My new iyawo Vika is sitting duck as far as I'm concerned

You can never satisfy human beings! I think Barca did what they could for Abidal based on the circumstances but at some point there has to be a reality check, Barca is a business not a charity organization! So retaining Abidal at 34 and a perpetual sicknote at that just didn't make any sense! He spent 6 years there and there's no crime in him not being offered an extension
