Am sure that is a virus. Once had it here on my network. Can't remember the exact way it was resolved. but i remembered asking google. I actually got the solution from google.

The virus disables some things from your registry and you might need to cancel them.

i have a pinter that is connected to one of the usb ports of my desktop. i have about 15 otherdesktop that are all connected to a switch through which they share the internet acess. I also have a linksys router that give dhcp ip addresses to the computers on the switch.

Most of my systems runs xp while a few of them run windows 2000.

Now to my question

I have been trying to share the printer for the LAN but no success. The first time , I shared the printer from the machine to which it was locally attached. Gave it the share name PRINTER!. I went to ADD A PRINTER on the other systems. After clicking the necessary buttons and tthe machine browsed for network printer, the dialog boix ask for the name of the printer and after i put the share name, it tells me the printer name is not correct.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT AM NOT DOING RIGHT OR WHAT AM SUPPOSED TO DO AND AM NOT DOING. OR BETTERSTILL DO YOU HAVE A BETTER METHOD OF SHARING PRINTER ON A LAN.

i actually followes thesteps u gave me. i was able to share the printer, but when igot to adding the printer on the other computers, i got stuck after browsing for the printer.

i use printer1 as the printer name. but each time i type it in the dialog box, it tells me that the name specified is wrong.

do i have to install a driver on the clients machine. Windows automatically detected the printer to which itwas attached, so i wont say i have a driver installed on the server.

what do u think i should do?

I have a linksys router that gives out DHCP ip addresses to client. THe server I talked about is a cafe timer server that all other clients machine connects to for timing and authorisation.

The timer server itself has just one card on it that is also connected to the same switch that other clients machine connects to.

Could somebody please explain this?

I use DHCP on my LAN with the exception of a computer which I preferred to put static IP of the same range as the DHCP range. This is neccesary because the one with the staic is the Server while others are cclients that are needed to be pointed to the server,

However, I have observed that sometimes the server already configured with static IP lose the IP address and changes to DHCP. INfact, checking the LAN card reveals that there was no IP on the card. It has changed mysteriously to AUTO IP mode.

I find it baffling. Can somebody expalin this to me.PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Some of the ststems have XP pro. whike some have Windows 2000.

I heard from one of my simblings how rats invaded their dormitory and started eating their toes while they are fast asleep.

They only wake up in the morning to find out that their are little cuts sometimes with blood on their toes or fingers.

Now my questios is this. Can rats transmits diseases like HIV and other blood related diseases. Can AIDS virus survive in rats and be transmitted.

I want to print a PDF document on my desktop computer. I have an HP printer attached and I have nbeen using these printer for sometime.

Now because of th volume of printing to be done, I bought another bundle of prititing paper. Now anytime I tried to print on this paper, all I get is a big circle with thick but breaking lines. When i tried it with the former paper at home, it presented it as it was.


Is there anybody in the house that knows the cause of this printer anomaly. Its really delaying me.

Hi people,

I have been battling with pimples and like it’s a no winner, no loser situation. I have tried all possible suggestions and they seem not to be very effective.

Most annoying thing is that there are spots on my back , and they are so ugly that I find it embarrassing to pull my shirt outside my home. There are also pimples and spots on my face. Somebody even jokingly called me father pimples!!.

Is there anybody that knows any remedy or permanent cure. Kindy respond ASAP before I become wifeless oooooooooooooooo.

A virus has infected my computer. It has locked my home page to quicknews.com and has also disabled RUN. Now I cannot go to registry nor edit anything there. Command prompt from RUN is also not accessible again.

If I can get RUN back I will be able to edit the registry.

Please I need somebody to tell me what could be responsible for the issue am going to discuss below and how io resolve it.

I just discovered that my computer statrs giving me this info during the boothing state: CPU SETTING IS INCORRECT, and it is always written in RED letters with the option press F! underneath it.

Sometimes if i get the luck to bypass this info, the computer takes another 20 minutes to finish boothing.

This is sooo frustrating. I will appreciate useful and timely response.

I want to know if virus can spoil a NIC card. I just formated my system after a persistent virus attack that refused to go after scaning and deleting the infected files.

I instaled a new operating system and also installed a newwer antivirus software. I was suprised that after browsing for some hours, I noticed a slowness on my browsing speed. On checking the send and receive packets on the NIC, I saw that the sent packets was ten thousand times the receive making my uplink to be far greater than my downlink.

Could this be that virus has destroyed or spoilt my NIC card or could there be another cause for this ugly incident.
Please respond, am at my wits end!
