Thumbs up to Banky W for his very articulate reply. Reuben did raise some points but his poor research gave him away, he was K.O'ed on this one. |
Tell me about it! where are the structures to ensure that we can cater for all these children, if at all they all abide and go to school. This same children have been at home for 5 months and jus got back to the classroom 2 weeks ago due to a protracted strike action. Now they are arresting everybody to go back to school. . .such foolish ideas to curb deep rooted issues. |
thats why i still have my reservations about companies like etisalat at this stage of their operations. Doling out huge salaries, when they practically dont have a network. That has to change real soon, or they might have to get drastic too with how they do things. . . |
well from what i got, it wasnt restricted to any particular cadre or dept, it was a bit here n der. Yes, network services and planning were affected. The vendors wud b d first point of call for these. a company like ericsson wud prob keep a lot of the positions local, but huawei i dnt think wud want to pay half of what zain was giving these guys, so i think ur spot on wit ur huawei prediction, its jus sad to hav a lot of pple out of job without some advance notice. Even heard they had a police van + ambulance at their premises, in case of any protests or shock victims. . . |
well, like u knw der wud always b a bit of politics to who gets what, but d truth is not a lot of nigerian companies hav d capacity to handle jobs at this level. I know companies like ericsson and harris hav bin involved in discussing taking some of these jobs. And a good few wud b 'packaged' companies from d middle east, who wud hurriedly try to establish some presence with some local partners, but reali dnt knw wat jobs went to who, |
dont think we wud hav d cheapest labour force when it is skilled. But its more of reorganising the model and focusing on their core business of sales and marketing. They dnt want to have to worry about running a network directly wit so many pple, when u are still paying vendors so much cos u r still not getting the availability u need. They hav transferred most of d functions to vendors, who wud den need to assess the volume of business they r lookin to get against the number of staff that has been transferred to them, so some of the outsourced staff might still be losing their jobs, HARD! |
pls help with this 5N1ED28T64C617360 |

Yar'adua's In-Law Yuguda to become CBN Governor Thursday, 26 February 2009 12:12 Saharareporters, NY E-mail Print PDF In what would become the most brazen and direct take over of Nigeria’s financial system by a family, Yar’adua is working to make the Governor of Bauchi State, Isah Yuguda, who is his son-in-law, the next governor of the Central bank of Nigeria. Isah Yuguda was tipped over and above Yar’adua’s Economic Adviser, Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi because Mr. Tanimu is heavily invested in the variously Oil Gas deals on behalf of Yar’Adua, especially through Russia. Close Yuguda, who already had three wives, recently married Yar’adua’s 23-year old daughter, Nafisat, at an eloborate ceremony that lasted several weeks. One of the ceremonies in Yar'Adua's home state, Katsina, saw the Katsina airport so full of jets that latecoming guests had to detour to neighboring states to land. The wedding also saw Senegalese singer, Yussuf N’dour, perform before a select crowd, with imported Lebanese belly dancers in tow. The wedding, according to estimates provided by state officials who didn’t want to be named, cost the Bauchi state government over N3 billion . If Yuguda is finally appointed as the CBN governor, he will have control over the printing of Nigerian currency through a German concern, a critical contract that current involves the first lady, Mrs. Turai Yar’adua. The tenure of the CBN Governor is five years and the tenure of the current CBN governor expirers in May 2009, when Yar'Adua also completes his second year in an office he never really won. http://www.saharareporters.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=848:aodoakaa&catid=42:exclusive&Itemid=160 |
ABUJA, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Nigeria's presidency declined to comment on a newspaper report on Friday that President Umaru Yar'Adua would spend eight weeks abroad having medical checks from Jan. 26. The Business Day newspaper quoted a special assistant in the presidency as saying that aides and ministers were trying to get approval for government business ahead of Yar'Adua's departure in 10 days' time. "I'm not going to react to that story, whether it is true or false, papers can go ahead speculating on the health of Mr President. I won't talk about it," presidential spokesman Olusegun Adeniyi said. Yar'Adua, known to have a chronic kidney problem, travelled to Saudi Arabia for more than two weeks last August. Official statements said he was on a Muslim pilgrimage but senior Nigerian officials and a medical source in Saudi Arabia said he had received treatment in Jeddah during the trip, raising fears about his fitness. Under the Nigerian presidential system, ministers must obtain approval for certain expenditures and projects, and a prolonged absence could stall government business as the Vice-President does not automatically have executive powers. Yar'Adua's health was long a source of concern even before he assumed the presidency. He had to be rushed to hospital in Germany while he was campaigning just weeks ahead of the April 2007 presidential election. Former president Olusegun Obasanjo called him by phone from the stage at a ruling party campaign rally so he could confirm he was still alive after rumours spread to the contrary. Yar’Adua Appoints Ume-Ezeoke’s Son as Aide From Juliana Taiwo in Abuja, 10.10.2008 Add To Favorites Print This Article Post Comment President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has appointed three All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), members as new Special Advisers. A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Olusegun Adeniyi, said the appointments stem from Yar'Adua's commitment to cooperating with other political parties to run a government of national unity. The appointees are Senator Saidu Umar Kumo , Special Adviser to the President on Inter-Party Relations; Prince Chineme Ume-Ezeoke, Special Adviser to the President on Civil Society Relations ; and Prince Ebuta Ojong Ayuk , Special Adviser to the President on Informal Sector Coordination. The appointments take effect from their respective dates of resumption. Kumo is the ANPP's National Secretary while Ayuk is the Deputy National Chairman, South and Chineme Ume Ezeoke is said to be the son of the National Chairman of the party, Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke. However, tension is brewing in the party as some members are calling on both Kumo and Ayuk to resign, insisting that the party's constitution prevents a member from holding two offices at the same time. They quoted article 26 sub-paragraph 4 of the reviewed ANPP constitution, which took effect from the July 27, 2007 and prohibits certain party officers from holding dual offices http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=124798 Any clues on what these portfolios could be about; Special Adviser on Civil Society Relations, Special Adviser on Informal Sector Coordination? Am I the only one that finds these portfolios very unnecessary and weird, to say the least?? |

true tho, but truth still is job seeking wud b a lot more cumbersome without NYSC.If all the people who hav never skooled ere can fly in n jus take jobs dat a local cud hav taken, den problem go dey, cos der r so many nigerian passports out der in europe n america, |
True tho, d essence of d program has bin lost. However, I think they shud keep it n try n improve on it as it kind of helps the unemployment rate. If all that graduated from the public, private and foreign universities were churned directly into the labour market, problem go dey! With all the funny criteria these employers set these days, and all the 'man-know-man' u need to get a job, wud b a tog of war. At least I knw pple wit 3rd class who get into organisations on the NYSC platform, make their marks and they warm up to their bosses, and they work out Full employment terms from there, n at least ur sure ur not 2 b so broke jus after graduation, ![]() |
I personally think she dug her own grave. With all the politicking goin on as per perceived OBJ people, she should have bin more careful. She gave them something to capitalise on to get rid of her and they are doing just that. So if u ask me, I'D say yes the arrest is right because she was dumb; period! What was she trying to do, be his vice president?? Just plain looking for unecessary relevance. |

@deor03 & texazpette Cudnt b more objective guys! wots all dis crap abt it being oil money jus cos his father is d president. Nigerians r so bloody narrow-minded, God! |
I mean if your goin to have people go through that sorta physical test, den they should have included as part of the suitability to apply, that each one of them provide some medical report certifying them healthy enough (this is advised for any physical involvements, including gyming). Knowing Nigeria, everyone one of them would have gotten that document somehw, but den the NIS can hold their hands up and say hey, this is what d candidate presented; we had no way of knowing he wasnt healthy enough, CASE CLOSED!! Its sad to see this happen tho; I jus hope they do learn from it. |

The Nigerian armed forces may have heeded the directive of President Umaru Yar’Ardua to smoke out militants of the volatile Niger Delta from their camps, as reports have it that the camps of the faceless Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta were allegedly bombed in the early hours of today. According to Cynthia White, the Spokesperson of MEND, the Joint Revolutionary Council and the Martyrs Brigade, in an e-mail to P.M.News in Port Harcourt this morning : “At about 20.00 hrs GMT and unto this hour, today 24th June 2008…camps belonging to revolutionary and heroic combatants of the struggle for the liberation and emancipation of the Ijaw and Niger Delta territory are being bombed by the armed forces of the Nigerian state.” The statement further alleged that in defiance to the forces of the Nigerian state, the leader of the attacked camps has successfully advanced into the ranks of soldiers of the Nigerian state, and has dealt them great casualties in a manner that has never been seen before in the history of warfares in Black Africa. The group vowed that there would be no respite and “Ijaws will not allow our own suffer alone.” They said that the unilateral declaration of ceasefire has been called off. They alleged that the Nigerian state has declared war on the people of the Ijaw and Niger Delta. Cynthia Whyte has directed that “all combatants and fighters are hereby called upon to take up judgment against any and every agent of the Nigerian state and her imperialist collaborators such as Shell Petroleum Development Company.” At the time of filing in this report, there was no response to our e-mail sent to Jomo Gbomo, the spokesman of MEND, to confirm or deny the claim that the militants’ hideouts had been bombed by Nigerian soldiers. Meanwhile, the Police in Rivers State patrolled some major roads in Port Harcourt with armourd personnel carriers today, and over 15 trooper vehicles were seen sending messages perhaps that they are on the alert. http://thepmnews.com/2008/06/25/niger-delta-army-bombs-militants |
I think they should concentrate on fixing up their No Entry signs before thinking up these crazy fines! Why would a sensible government make the fine for such an offence so high? Is it not evident that their accounts wouldnt get credited with a single kobo The only thing I see changing is those 'thugs' on the roads taking 20,000 from a motorist now, instead of the usual 5,000 they take now. . .insane! |
Nigeria is soooooooooooo annoyin!! pple r in lagos without light for a month, but these pple, one yr later r still tryna figure out hw best to write a bloody report dat doesnt define an y direction to solving the issues on ground (at least within their brain capacities)!! I blame obasanjo for enforcing someone who never wanted 2 b president on us; he clearly does not have a plan, and it is passable cos he didnt aspire this high!! |
I have just received a txt message from Total/Kimberly Ryan inviting for a test and interview on friday, 2nd of May, for an engineering position. The opening came up early this month on their website. Inputs on testing format would be greatly appreciated. Thanx guys |
