i have heard a lot about project management, visited pmi.org but my questions have not been answered, How does a project management certification advance the career of a lawyer. Pls Help !!!

I am a lawyer whose has got his eye set on improving his resume, how can project management be of help in giving me the required career boost. Also been trying to download PMBOK 4th edition but i hav had no success in that, can anybody be of help by sending it to my box Presy.ng@gmail.com

@ Poster, Honestly the way I see it, the earlier posts from the guys weren't intended to make jest of your thoughts and hopes but an indirect advice to you to look before leaping.
My bad but seeking to buy a private jet at this time is like an oversized joke. You need to consider the following:-
- Aviation fuel price.
- Pilot fee or salary as the case may be.
- Parking space/spot
- Runway
- Maintenance fee
- Documented 'GO' from aviation authorities which you'll definitely have to renew time to time.
If you really want to upgrade your status, take my advice and do the underlying:-
- Buy a really good/fancy house with all the recent state of the art security gadgets in a respectable part of the country emmm say Abuja for instance.
- Buy some brand new 2010/2011 cars with all the possible functions an automobile designer genius can think of.
- Invest in a couple of lucrative business
- Lend a helping hand to the less privileged in the society
- Buy a flight ticket when ever you feel like flying.

I will revamp the Judicial System.

I will recruit experiences officers and retired service men  from India/China/Japan, South Africa/Brazil  and Britain/USA to train our Customs, Police,Navy, Army, Airforce , EFCC all over again.


I will revamp the technical and technology schools.

Pay rise for Doctors and Nurses to bring back those abroad and retain those in Nigeria.

Invite farmers from India/Brazil/Zimbabwe/Israel do help our agriculture. Promote intensive poultry farming

Bring Ryanair/Easy jet to compete and develop our Airlines.

Invite Indian/China to train and develop our rail system.

Massive investment in solar energy and electricity intrastructure.

If i'm able to achieve this alone. Tell me Nigerian won't be a better place in 8 Years.

Honestly. Good intentions.

But in Nigeria, would they allow you i asked? He shook is head.

If you want to buy a Benz, go ahead it is a ride you can never regret. Yes the older models consume some fuel, yes if left unmaintained for long, may be expensive, however my question is which vehicle when left unmaintained at the right time will not break down. Unlike the other vehicles, the parts do last when you change them. Benz do not normally break down easily and it will warn you for months before it finally breaks down, enough time for you to raise money for necessary repairs. Benz is infact a complete car, you will never regret for driving it. But before you buy, I suggest that you take a mechanic who is knowledgeable in Benz with you.

former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, on Friday in Lagos, opened up a can of worms over his sour relationship with the former Chairman of the Economic and financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Ibori, who addressed media executives at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, accused Ribadu of waging a campaign of calumny against him because he refused to facilitate his becoming the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He said the ex-EFCC boss was also angry with him because he refused to be recruited by Ribadu for a planned crusade for the annulment of the 2007 presidential election won by Umaru Yar’Adua.

Ibori, who said he remained a loyal friend of Ribadu in spite of his hard stance on his person, alleged that the former anti-graft chief decided to launch a bitter campaign to humiliate him because he did not succumb to his personal ambition.

“I can say without any fear of contradiction that I have and hope I still have a good relationship with the erstwhile Chairman of the EFCC even though he now denies that he is a friend. I am a Christian and will not deny him.

“Very many times, he tried to get me to assist him in one way or the other, including his desire to become the Inspector General of Police. In his approach, he posited that in his estimation and knowledge of Nigerian politics, I was one of those who could help him achieve it.

Ibori alleged that Ribadu solicited the cooperation of judges and INEC officials to annul the 2007 presidential election, which he (Ibori) did not subscribe to.

“On another occasion, he attempted to recruit me to join a crusade to annul the presidential election of 2007. In fact, he promised that I if did, he would not file charges against me and would not prosecute me.

“I told him to give me time to reflect on it. But it would be stupid of me to have bought into his blackmail, so I ignored him. When he then realised that I was not succumbing to his cheap blackmail, he decided to go ahead with his plan of humiliating me,” Ibori alleged.

To corroborate his allegation of calumny against him, Ibori said an observer had alerted him in November 2007 while attending the United Nations session with the Nigerian delegation in New York that Ribadu planned to frame him that he attempted to give him a $15 million bribe.

Accordingly, he said he put a call through to Ribadu who, according to the former governor, denied the allegation.

“Interestingly, he himself has contradicted his statement severally with regards to the alleged bribe especially in his statement in the English court,” Ibori claimed.

He alleged that Ribadu’s grudge against him was also because he insisted on due process in the charges filed against at a Kaduna High Court but which was later transferred to Benin, Edo State.

He stated, “My lawyers challenged both the detention, the jurisdiction of the court and the seizure of my passports, all of which were vigorously argued at the lower court and at the appeal court.

“It was finally resolved at the appeal court where the court agreed with my lawyers that the jurisdiction where the alleged crime was committed is the Benin Division. The appeal court also granted the release of my passport.”

“All of this, I think, did not go down well with the erstwhile EFCC chairman. Since my arrest, detention and eventual prosecution, my team of lawyers have consistently assured me that I will be fully exonerated because there is no evidence to support the charges.”

The former governor said it was not in his character to take issue with people on the pages of newspapers but had to open up now following pressures from political associates, friends, colleagues and well-wishers to react a rash of negative publicity.

He also delved into his relationship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, alleging that he fell out with the former leader because he opposed his bid to for a second term in office in 2003.

He stated that after PDP governors had resolved not to back Obasanjo for second term, the onus was on him to convey the decision to the hen PDP National Chairman, Chief Audu ogheh.

According to Ibori, the action of the PDP governor was because of the perceived dictatorial, vindictive and unforgiving spirit of the former president.

He said his decision to convey the resolution of his former colleages, coupled with his uncompromising stand on resource control caused him a hitherto cordial relationship with Obasanjo.

I don’t know Mohammed Abacha more than the fact that he is the son of late Sanni Abacha. As a Nigerian he has every right to contest for any elective post, but then as Bidemi wrote, there is a moral issue here. How can we trust him? How can we be so sure he will not follow the footsteps of his father? After all he has his father’s blood flowing in his veins. Beside does he agree with majority of Nigerians that his father misruled us?

I think what he needs to do as far as I am concern are:

1. for him to acknowledge that his father misruled us and apologize to Nigerians on behalf of his family.
2. Secondly I think it is too early for him to jump into politics, the wound his father inflicted on us is still very fresh. He should wait a little longer or leave that path for his children
3. Thirdly I think he should be righting the wrong of his father by doing things that are pro-the masses of Nigeria

May be, just may be, then Nigeria can begging to see him as Mohammed Abacha and not as the son of Sanni Abacha.

True, the world may be in the hands of the wicked and every one (not just the leaders of the western world) has one ugly past or the other, but the world will be a better place if we do not sustain the evil legacy of our fathers but chose rather a better course for ourselves, just as the like of Schwarzeneggers, Bush and Clintons did.

But then ultimately it is the people of Kano that will decide (that is if their election will truly count).

Again as much as I hate to admit it, in Nigeria anything is possible (even if it is morally or legally wrong).
