The Igbos are asking questions about the genocide of Pre-civil war and civil war, and the killings of their people that continued even in post civil war era. Many people on this forum will shut me up and other Igbos that try to ask such question and they will be quick to say DEAL WITH IT.

mu2sa2: This report is biased. The quota system is not just for hausa/fulani- it benefits everybody, north to south, east to west. Its aim is to avoid a situation where Unity Schools end up with students from just a section of the country, thus destroying the purpose of establishing the schools in the first place - bringing together children from all parts of the country to promote national unity.
The policy does benefit all- check out Bayelsa; and mark you North is not only hausa/fulani.

How is the report biased?
If you want to bring children from all over the country to attend the same school, why not simply do a random sampling, and pick the children randomly?
Why put up a cut off point in the first place? By putting a cut off point you are inadvertently telling the children that you are interested in Merit. But the Nigerian Quota system defeats Meritocracy.
Take for instance, Abdullahi, Emeka, Kehinde and Ekaite grew up together in the same neighbourhood. The children attended the same Nursery school, and proceeded to the same primary school. At the end they sat for the National Common Entrance and had scores ranging from 67, 104, 112, and 95 respectively.
All chose FGC Ikot-Ekpene as both first and second choice. Abdullahi and Ekaite weree given admission based on quota and Emeka and Kehinde were denied admission based on quota.
How does Emeka and Kehinde's parents explain to their children that it was because of quota that couldn't join their friends in FGC Ikot-Ekpene?

We write the same exam under the same conditions and when the results are out, the Yobe guy just needs a score point of 2 and me from Abia must get above 130! This is pure unadulterated injustice. The debate is about UNITY schools. State schools cater for state students while Unity schools are for students from ALL over the country. If you exclude students from the North because they don't score as high as students from the South, they the schools would run contrary to the objective of their founding. Why is that so difficult for you guys to comprehend?

The used the case of Unity School cut off points. But the real debate is about QUOTA SYSTEM. If it were not for quota system, the OPs son would have gained admission into that unity school before someone who scored less.

Oga, you need not cut off your nose just to spite your face. The QUOTA SYSTEM affects almost everyone in the Southern part of Nigeria.
Moreover, the Northern pupils are not even filling up their quotas. That is why you have some Southerners who adopt Northern Names just to benefit from the quota system.

I am amazed at how sentiments and emotions get the upper hand in National discourse once TRIBAL SENTIMENTS sets in. Maybe, just maybe, some people would have argued better or 'pretended' to understand OPs view point if he had not stated that he wanted BIAFRA.
QUOTA system affects everyone in the SOUTHERN Region of Nigeria. Take it or Leave it. Yeah, the Igbos may feel the pinch more, but truth be told it affects all Southerners. The major beneficiaries of QUOTA system are the Northerners, and that is why they have the BORN TO RULE SYNDROME.

The federal government built the unity schools for a purpose; exposing Nigerian kids to other cultures is the highest priority for it.

Pupils from the East will be a majority in the unity schools in the East and be part of the majority in the North but no they can't be happy because Northern kids who score poorly and who only make up a minority in their own regions still get accepted.

I don't really get your point. Are you trying to justify mediocrity? Are you trying to say that you should be denied that contract or job or position just because you are not from the MEDIOCRE states?
Are trying to say that because you from Yoruba (and mind you most of your SW states are EDS) that your child who scored higher in JAMB (it applies to JAMB also) should stay at home, while one Abdullahi who scored far less gains admission into the Federal University. It is only in a fraudulent state like Nigeria that such can happen. If there is no other way to encourage them to go school other than to set their pass mark at 2 (which is 1%), then I am ashamed to belong to Nigeria.

There are better ways of encouraging them to go to school.

Many people missed your point because you started by stating your son's score (even though he is still in primary 4). Let me try to paint a scenerio here:
Noblezone Jnr attends Nigerian All States primary school and Mr Gombe Jnr attends the same Nigerian All States primary school.
The two boys were admitted the same day, have had the same teachers and have progressed fairly at the same pace. Now both sat for a Unity School Examination (known as the National Common Entrance AKA FGC exams).
Noble Jnr scored 104, but can't get admission because he is from Anambra (EDUCATIONALLY DEVELOPED STATE) and his cut off point is 139.
Gombe Jnr scored 60, and was admitted because he is from EDUCATIONALLY LESS DEVELOPED STATE.

Now Mr Noble questions are these:
1) How can you justify that Gombe Jnr gets admission, just because he is from ELS. don't forget that this boy has been exposed to the same teaching and learning environment as Noble Jnr. But Noble Jnr who has a higher score cannot be admitted into the same FGC because he is from EDS.

2) what makes Gombe Jnr Educationally less developed (if not for quota system) and Noble Jnr Educationally developed?

3)Is it right to promote Mediocrity above Meritocracy?

4) Does it mean that the Nigerian State does not encourage Meritocracy? If it encourages Meritocracy, why then is she punishing HARD WORK?

Oshio chattered the aircraft and when you chatter an aircraft it is expected that you pay the money for chattering the aircraft. If the Pilot of the aircraft or the company that owns the aircraft did not pay the stipulated dues by NAMA, how then is that Oshio's fault?
