The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom have said they do not recognise the passports being issued by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra. The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Sunny Okereafor, had said two weeks ago that the passport was valid worldwide, adding that the travel document costs N5,000 while its renewal costs N2,000 He had said, “I assure you that the Biafran passport is valid. Except Nigeria, other countries of the world accept Biafran passport and allow our citizens to travel with it. In Europe, North and South America, Biafran passport is accepted. Nigeria is the only country that seizes Biafran passport. Go to neighbouring Ghana here, they will stamp the passport for you. Don’t be confused by the propaganda of the Nigerian government that there is nothing like Biafra passport. “MASSOB appeals to Biafran citizens to procure their passport and use it to travel. If you doubt me, get a Nigerian passport while I have my Biafran passport; when we get to Europe, you will see who they will welcome than the other. Many people with the Nigerian passport have been repatriated, but have you heard of anybody with Biafran passport receiving such ill-treatment?” However, our correspondent sent an email to the American consulate in Lagos to inquire from the US regarding the claim of MASSOB. In his response, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the consulate, Frank Sellin, said, “The United States does not consider passports purporting to be from a Biafra entity to be a valid legal document for purposes of visa issuance.” A similar response from the British Government was sent to The PUNCH via email. The UK recalled that it did not support the disintegration of Nigeria during the 1967 Biafran War and had not changed its stance 49 years after. A statement by the Press and Public Affairs Officer, British High Commission, Abuja, Mr. Joe Abuku, read in part, “The answer is unequivocally ‘no’. The UK does not recognise the so-called Biafran passport “The position of the UK Government during the Biafran War is a matter of historical record. The UK Government’s position, which reflected the Charter of the Organisation of African Unity, was to recognise the borders laid down at independence. “The Biafran War caused great suffering and the UK supported the reconciliation work that followed the conflict. The UK supports the territorial integrity of Nigeria and the Nigerian Government’s commitment to work for a secure and prosperous Nigeria for all Nigerians.” Source: http://www.punchng.com/we-dont-recognise-biafran-passport-us-uk/

Strange things happen: Diego Gonzalez was having a hard time with the bullies in school and just couldn't take anymore. Before jumping off the fifth floor of the family home, he wrote his parents a heartbreaking note which he left beside a teddy bear he has owned since birth. The incident happened October 14th last year after Diego complained that he was having trouble at school and was unhappy but his parents only just made the letter public in a bid to persuade authorities in Villaverde, Madrid, to launch a full investigation into his death. His letter read: "Daddy, Mummy…I hope that one day you will be able to hate me a little less. I can’t stand going to school and there is no other way to avoid it. "Dad, you taught me to be a good person and to keep promises…Mum, you have taken care of me very well and shown me a lot of places…Grandpa, you have always been very generous to me and have looked out for me. "Tata, you have put up with a lot from me. "I miss you and I hope one day we can meet again in heaven. Well, I say goodbye forever." He was a pupil at Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles School in Madrid and now his parents want answers from the local authority. Diego's father, Manuel Gonzalez, said: "In this school strange things are happening and, at least, must be investigated." Despite Diego's letter and several other complaints from parents at the school, police 'ruled out' his death was due to a case of bullying, according to the El Mundo. His mother, Carmen Gonzalez, remembered the horrifying moment she found her son. She said: "I heard that he had moved from the room. I looked and saw the shoes on the floor. "I got into the [other] room, looked wildly around the house to find him and saw towards the back of the kitchen, the open window, I went and looked. I saw his shadow on the floor." The one reason a ministry would publish this advertorial is the dearth of people to entrust the work of God. The field is ripe, but the labourers are few. Pray God to send in genuine labourers that would gather in the sheaves with smile. THE GATES OF HELL CANNOT PREVAIL!! |
Na today? In this case, we can start suing all those Nollywood grandma and grandpa claiming to be youth corps and young ladies and guys anytime they are on heavy makeover! That one is televised fraud! |

The Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, may have sacked the doctors who embarked on a strike since September 28, 2015. The state government on Wednesday placed a series of vacancy advertisements at the state’s hospitals for interested doctors. The advertisement was aired on the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation. The advertisement was signed by Sunday Olajide on behalf of the Head of Service, Mr. Sunday Owoeye. The President of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH, Dr. Adeyinka Owolabi, when contacted told our correspondent on the telephone that he was also aware of the vacancy advertisement. He said, “We are still on strike. Nothing has changed but I heard the – government advertising vacancies for doctor’s positions on the television. They are promising them the stipends that we are rejecting. “We have approached the court before this and we are waiting for the date of the hearing of the matter.” The Consultant to Osun State Government on Information, Mr. Sunday Akere, refused to pick calls made to his telephone and also had yet to respond to the text message sent to him on the matter. However, the Head of Service, Owoeye, confirmed the advertisement to our correspondent in a response to the text message sent to his telephone by our correspondent. Owoeye replied, “True and Yes.” Reacting to the development, the Nigeria Medical Association asked medical doctors in the country to shun the jobs advertised by the state government. The state Chairman of the NMA, Dr. Suraj Ogunyemi, who said this while speaking to our correspondent on the telephone, said any doctor who appeared to be interviewed for the jobs would be sanctioned. Ogunyemi said the national body of the NMA was in support of the steps being taken by its Osun State chapter, saying the association would also sanction any doctor who would sit on the panel of interviewers for the advertised jobs. He said, “Any medical or dental doctor who appears for the interview will be sanctioned by the NMA. Any doctor in the ministry or hospital who sits on the panel to interview any doctor will also be sanctioned. “The step taken by the state government is condemnable. The NMA condemns it in strong terms. While everybody is trying to see that the crisis is resolved amicably, the governor is trying to worsen the situation.” Ogunyemi accused Aregbesola of trying to set the state on fire with his utterances and actions. He vowed that the NMA would frustrate Aregbesola’s attempt to replace the striking doctors. He advised the governor to constitute his cabinet so that he might get competent people to advise him on the right steps to take. The state government had given the striking doctors an ultimatum which expired on January 11, 2016 after which it threatened that those of them who failed to resume by Monday should consider themselves sacked. The governor, last Thursday, threatened that the civil service rule to this effect would be implemented last Monday but this did not happen. However, the advertisement could be an indication that the governor had carried out his threat. The doctors rejected half salaries which the state government was paying to all workers and embarked on the strike after the expiration of the ultimatum. Meanwhile, the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital on Wednesday started an indefinite strike at the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum given the government. The Secretary of MDCAN, Dr. Tokunbo Olajumoke, confirmed this to our correspondent on the telephone. He said, “The strike started at 8am this morning at the expiration of the ultimatum. So, we are on strike.” The MDCAN had last week given an ultimatum to the government on “amputated salaries” and resident doctors’ issues. . I'm pretty sure the kids involved were reported but the thing is what would they do, expel them for yabbing a classmate? For me, all the reporting and school punishmnt is useless if the child cannot handle it on their own, to a certain degree.
