this is really a step in the right direction. however if dem no want curses, they shud computerize the camp and ppa make we dey serve online since dem no want make we dey travel long distance. na im papa dey pay for our travel for d 4 or more years we spent in skul? after travelling many years to skul na just once for letter dem wan help us? if u are a unilorite, u must travel to collect ur nysc i.d. card and certificate or na silly sidmach go help us gt those too? and dey even chose an incompetent organisation for the job.
by the way, i tnk we shud get our senators', governors twitter and facebook i.d.s den bombard them wt msgs or even bombard our dailies, and other media houses.
complaining here solves nothing, let us take the fyt to the fools. let the world hear our voice.

adanny01: If you read my comment very well you would have seen the word 'rumoured' in that sentence.

FC is just a qualification for those tests. I never said he got the job because he was an FC but went through several test and interviews and was successful in all. At the end he had to just make a choice. He was not the only first class, but he only was si much desired and i admired him too, unlike the other one who was just another lucky bookwarmer.

That tells you something that every firstclass is a normal firstclass but the genius firstclass is different. Afterall it is believed by some that exams is not the true test of knowledge.
dts me been self-deprecating. was d best grad student (faculty and dept) 2013 set at unilorin. i was asked by a reporter if i hav received any offer from any company, i was like seriously!!, not one of the five in my faculty received any. naija we hail thee.
the problem wt d FC is dt when u approach people for help they tell u dt wt ur FC, u av no problem. and still we no gt job

adanny01: That is the real basis why the two are incomparable!

In athletics, there is 100metre sprint and 100metre sprint hurdles all measured by the same unit of time (seconds).

Even the same athlete cannot produce the same time in both events talk more of 2 different athletes. The hurdles differentiates the two and makes the timing longer.

If two athletes compete on the same track and produce the same time but one having hurdles, he is the better of the two. Remove the hurdles and he will be better. That is the difference between the private uni 1st class and the public uni 1st class. The public uni guy has gone through more hurdles to get the same grade his private counterpart got, so he is better. Put both in the same institution with same effort the public guy would be better.

Its not over hype! They are (if at all compared) supposed to be better.

If you want to say 'frustated lecturers', thats just mean of you. Check out the private school lecturers, they all went to public or foreign unis and went after better pay in private unis. Unfortunately for those ones, their careers will become stagnant or stunted growth. Thats because public uni lecturers get better and frequent training and often under seasoned and renouned scholars. They undergo their next academic levels within their schools concurrently with their careers while private has to rely on their former public unis to obtain academic growth most times at their own expense.

On your bolded text, thats just a big lie. Except in your own school, ABU where i finished only employs their own students as graduate assistants. No Senator dares to write to a Dean or HOD for employment of anyone. If such a candidate is imposed on the department, he will hardly even pass his masters degree not to talk of becoming a Professor in that school. Best students are offered employment because of the grades. Most, if not all 1st class students who choose to lecture cannot be denied except if there are too many of the graduate assistants in their field of specialisation at the time. Because i read engineering, all our 1st class would have had multinational oil company jobs waiting for their graduation day. One of my classmates was rumoured to have had a car sent from Shell to pick him on the very day we wrote our very last exam paper.

You dont compare lecturers of public unis and that of private. Same as you dont compare Medical doctors of public hospitals to private hospitals.
really? like hw many years ago was dt? i mean sendin cars for graduates cos if u see the number of FC that dt apply kpmg monthly test(d towers, unilag, chams city) u'll be amazed and its a time-wasting pocess. went thru d process-test, essay, AC, manager's review, partner's interview den dropped after dt. by d way, dey asked me d same thns over and over at d MR and PI. its mostly nt about ur grade but who u knw ds days especially govt jobs( GA position is nt assured for FCs again o) sorry to burst ur bubble, FC holders

OLUJOSHINS: Lots of students get a first class by sleeping with their lectures or organising girls for Him so please spare me the long story.

I respect people based on their mental capacity.
sleeping wt lecturers to get FC ? u seriously dnt knw hw hard it is to accumulate such a cgpa. u slp wt lecturers to avoid carry-overs, pass or third class, not FC. any1 dt can gt first class by sleepin around must be a first class ho and must be special in bed to maintain dt for four years wt diffrrent lecturers(not less dn 20lecturers for d four years) and if its a school like unilorin where some exams are CBT, u gotta sleep wt d computer too?
by d way for those alleging crammin, well, evry1 crams whether FC, 2.1 or pass, its part of d process and any FC who says he/she didnt is a First class liar. if u tnk cramming to gt FC is easy, try it and tell us d result.
oh, its nt all public univ dt are above suspicion. UniMaid in 2009/2010 produced over 300FC in a yr. (d number was 579 if i can recall correctly not sure if dey combined several years though)

respect to all d FC in the house

Science/Technology › The Death Song by abbeywasc(op): 9:37am On Aug 19, 2014
In December, 1932, a down and out
Hungarian named Reszo Seress was trying
to make a living as a songwriter in Paris,
but kept failing miserably. All of his
compositions failed to impress the music
publishers of France, but Seress carried on
chasing his dream nevertheless. He was
determined to become an internationally
famous songwriter. His girlfriend had
constant rows with him over the insecurity
of his ambitious life. She urged him to get a
full-time 9 to 5 job, but Seress was
uncompromising. He told her he was to be
a songwriter or a hobo, and that was that.
One afternoon, things finally came to a
head. Seress and his fiancée had a fierce
row over his utter failure as a composer,
and the couple parted with angry words.
On the day after the row - which happened
to be a Sunday - Seress sat at the piano in
his apartment, gazing morosely through
the window at the Parisian skyline. Outside,
storm-clouds gathered in the grey sky, and
soon the heavy rain began to pelt down.
"What a gloomy Sunday" Seress said to
himself as he played about on the piano's
ivories, and quite suddenly, his hands
began to play a strange melancholy melody
that seemed to encapsulate the
downhearted way he was feeling over his
quarrel with his girl and the state of the
dispiriting weather.
"Yes, Gloomy Sunday! That will be the title
of my new song" muttered Seress,
excitedly, and he grabbed a pencil and
wrote the notes down on an old postcard.
Thirty minutes later he had completed the
song.
Seress sent his composition off to a music
publisher and waited for acceptance with a
lot more hope than he usually had in his
heart. A few days later, the song-sheet was
returned with a rejection note stapled to it
that stated: "Gloomy Sunday has a weird
but highly depressing melody and rhythm,
and we are sorry to say that we cannot use
it."
The song was sent off again to another
publisher, and this time it was accepted.
The music publisher told Seress that his
song would soon be distributed to all the
major cities of the world. The young
Hungarian was ecstatic.
But a few months after Gloomy Sunday was
printed, there were a spate of strange
occurrences that were allegedly sparked off
by the new song. In Berlin, a young man
requested a band to play Gloomy Sunday,
and after the number was performed, the
man went home and blasted himself in the
head with a revolver after complaining to
relatives that he felt severely depressed by
the melody of a new song which he
couldn't get out of his head. That song was
Gloomy Sunday.
A week later in the same city, a young
female shop assistant was found hanging
from a rope in her flat. Police who
investigated the suicide found a copy of
the sheet-music to Gloomy Sunday in the
dead girl's bedroom.
Two days after that tragedy, a young
secretary in New York gassed herself, and
in a suicide note she requested Gloomy
Sunday to be played at her funeral. Weeks
later, another New Yorker, aged 82, jumped
to his death from the window of his
seventh-story apartment after playing the
'deadly' song on his piano. Around the
same time, a teenager in Rome who had
heard the unlucky tune jumped off a
bridge to his death.
The newspapers of the world were quick to
report other deaths associated with Seress'
song. One newspaper covered the case of a
woman in North London who had been
playing a 78 recording of Gloomy Sunday at
full volume, infuriating and frightening her
neighbors, who had read of the fatalities
supposedly caused by the tune. The stylus
finally became trapped in a groove, and the
same piece of the song played over and
over. The neighbors hammered on the
woman's door but there was no answer, so
they forced the door open - only to find the
woman dead in her chair from an overdose
of barbiturates. As the months went by, a
steady stream of bizarre and disturbing
deaths that were alleged to be connected to
Gloomy Sunday persuaded the chiefs at the
BBC to ban the seemingly accursed song
from the airwaves. Back in France, Rizzo
Seress, the man who had composed the
controversial song, was also to experience
the adverse effects of his creation. He
wrote to his ex-fiancée, pleading for a
reconciliation. But several days later came
the most awful, shocking news. Seress
learned from the police that his sweetheart
had poisoned herself. And by her side, a
copy of the sheet music to Gloomy Sunday
was found.
At the end of the 1930s, when the world
was plunged into the war against Hitler,
Seress' inauspicious song was quickly
forgotten in the global turmoil, but the
sheet-music to the dreaded song is still
available (on the Net too) to those who are
curious to know if the morbid melody can
still exert its deadly influence...
