I'm so sorry to hear this. I have not done mine, so I do not know why the documents were taken. Please can you share the interview transcript if your mother-in-law can remember?

Yes, I also experienced the same thing. All you need to do is keep checking them. Sometimes, a new time slot will be added, and you can just be lucky to be online when that happens and you get a recent date. While I was going through all the dates and getting the same error message I clicked on a date in December and it went through, so don't give up just keep checking.

Please do not pay any agent for dates, just keep checking by yourself and you will get a more recent date. As already mentioned no agent can guarantee recent dates, all they do is check and hope they come across a recent date and book it for you. That is something you can do yourself for free, I got Oct 2025, rescheduled to May 2025, and then finally got Dec 2024, all by checking all the time by myself. So you can do the same and save your money.

It's very safe to use the school's address as where you will be staying. I have relatives in the US but I put the schools address as where I will staying.
Like I said, the whole idea to make them not sense the jakpa mode.
So you need to be very careful in approaching this.

Use your school address as where u will be staying on ur DS-160
