Politics › Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway Project To Commence In Kebbi State by abc115(op): 12:19pm On Jul 05, 2024 |
The Minister of Works, Engineer Nweze David Umahi, has said that the first phase of work on the 1000km Sokoto-Badagry super highway project will be flagged off in Kebbi State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August.
While speaking at a stakeholders’s engagement on alignment for Sokoto and Kebbi states’ first and second phases of the highway at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, Umahi said work on the project would commence from the 258km section in the Kebbi axis.
The minister noted that the route of the highway was that of the oldest trans-Sahara trade which was initiated more than 48 years ago but not implemented until the coming of President Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at the engagement, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, said, “The country is presently confronting its reality. Some of the economic policies of this administration are new, so the government needs understanding and support from the citizens to achieve its developmental and economic objectives.”
Governor Nasiru Idris, in his remarks, said the president had brought happiness to the people of Kebbi through the highway road project, adding that the project was a testimony of his belief in the aspirations of the people of Nigeria.

Labour should come up with a reasonable request around N100k. Even at that, it will take a lot of effort to convince state governments and private sector to accept such a proposal. Minimum wage is not just about the FG but about all employees of Labour in Nigeria.
Abia state is a Labour Party state. Still, the state is yet to start implementing the N30k minimum wage approved since 2019. How will Tinubu force states like Abia to pay N494k as minimum wage? So, it’s time for all parties to get serious and come up with something realistic. seunmsg |

helinues: N70-N80k should be okay for now
After some months, FG should flush out the ghost workers and those with fake certificates. The money saved there would be added to the new minimum wage in a year or so Percentage of labour force under FG is less than 3%. If FG increases minimum wage to any amount, Nigerians are dissipating unnecessary energy for the welfare of less than 3%. What happens to 97%? Currently, States paying #18k minimum wages: Abia Anambra Delta Bayelsa Zamfara How do you encourage these to pay #30k before you talk of #100k? It is not decision of FG to make, but the joint committee members which are FG, States , LG and Organized Private Sector |
