Why am I not surprised when people still think that HIV ain't real, having unprotected sex and using salt and water immediately to dispel any chance of pregnancy. as long as we have people still living in the stone ages ...common awareness would go a long way but in such a conservative country..nah...very stubborn set of people
Politics › About The New Minimum Wage by abdeiz(op): 11:07am On Dec 04, 2017
Last month the President Buhari commissioned a committee on the new minimum wage.

This is a positive step towards helping the masses and no doubt it has political motives behind it(coughs* 2019 elections). But there are concerns that it would not apply to the private sector just like the present minimum wage isn't being implemented in the private sector, according to law, a private organization with a minimum of 50 employees should implement minimum wage.
But we have organizations like that paying their cleaners even less.

When the minimum wage bill is going to be passed it should also take into cognizance the fact that private organizations should adhere to it and can be penalized for any infractions.

The labour union are clamoring for a new minimum wage that reflects the economic realities of living conditions in this country. it is sad that during the economic boom under the previous administration...rampant corruption hindered any positive steps to provide infrastructure that would have made sufficed in making the quality of life better for its citizens.

Literature › Re: Fighting Depression As An African by abdeiz(m): 8:58am On Nov 28, 2017
OluwabuqqyYOLO:
Men too suffer from depression. And, for them, it's even more difficult 'cos no one listens to them. Hell, a man can't even let his tears fall in an African society. Yet, women always make it appear as though they are ones at the worst end.
You're right but let's not bring in gender stereotypes in here, depression doesn't care about gender
Literature › Re: Fighting Depression As An African by abdeiz(m):
Whenever I feel sad, I stop being sad and be awesome.

Many of us here deal with depression I inclusive, she's right that in African culture we see it as a weakness especially for a guy, how many time would one be driving down the road and thoughts of crashing the car to end it all creeps in.

Its not that easy to be positive, it takes time, try to go out and no matter how much you hate interacting with people, going out and experiencing new things would give you another perspective at life that it really isn't all that bad only because of the unrealistic expectations society imposes on us. Get free from the shackles of society by not giving a hoot to these expectations and you'd have a lot less to worry about.

New experiences help you to see the bright aspect of life and finding a purpose keeps you moving forward...according to the writer her second child gave her just that.

EVERYONE IS GOING THROUGH SOMETHING, BE NICE ALWAYS, A RANDOM SMILE CAN BRIGHTEN UP ANOTHER PERSON'S DAY. YOU MAY NEVER KNOW.

Nothing like true love my friend, you can only find imitations when your rich and handsome, but to love you you for who you are you can only find that within you.
Romance › Re: Why Am I Losing Friends by abdeiz(m): 11:35pm On Nov 26, 2017
I can relate with you too OP, I have realized that it may be due to some reasons.
You could be a boring person, you may be broke and don't hang out with them cos of pocket issues. Funny enough when you don't have gf and they do they tend to look down on you as incapable.

Thats life for you..suck it up, move on, build up your esteem, if your not handsome enough compensate with other attributes..most important of all...Don't ever give a damn about what other think about you.

Politics › PDP Convention: If Anyone Says The State Executive Has Endorsed Him, That Is Th by abdeiz(op): 9:17am On Nov 23, 2017
PDP Convention: If anyone says the State executive has endorsed him, that is the greatest lie. -Kogi PDP Chairman

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Sam uhuotu, on Wednesday denied the report on the adoption of any aspirant for the post of the national publicity secretary of the party by the leadership of the party in the state. Said any aspirant who claimed he has been endorsed by the State executive of the party is telling lies.

According to him, "the purported endorsement of an aspirant being speculated on social media by one Austin Okai was aimed at causing internal crisis in the party ahead of December 9, national convention."

Uhuotu added that the party “cannot afford to field a candidate with tons of albatross for the 2017 PDP convention”

While addressing journalists in Abuja, the State PDP chairman said the national executive has said that whoever will emerge for any of the office of the party will be the decision of the people.

“If anyone says the State executive has endorsed him, that is the greatest lie. That is blatant lie”.

He also advised aspirants of the party with questionable character to stay off the track. Adding that the PDP will ensure only the best and professional who can rebuild the image of the Party.

“Whoever will emerge as the National Publicity secretary of the PDP from a state like kogi must reflect the future we are looking at. I am telling you that any aspirant with a questionable character should stay off. We need a National publicity secretary with sound education, respectable, responsible, acceptable, right experience with a pedigree in manageable of people and resources and marketable”.

“The issue of adopting a common position in the party is a serious action that must take due cognizance of every tendency within the party”.

The statement therefore maintained that no one has been endorsed within the PDP in the Kogi State.
