you see, let me tell you what you don't understand. In your head you think I support judge's decision. No, I don't but I respect the decision. I support blasphemy law in itself. Laws are meant to regulate community. Without laws there would be chaos.

Blasphemy law actually helped the guy in number of ways. He could have been lynched the way South West people set robbers on fire in jungle justice. So law somewhat helped the guy and he lives. For the fact that he was convicted doesn't mean he will be executed. He has opportunity to appeal and have his conviction turned to lesser punishment.

Matter of fact I have reviewed his alleged crime. It looks like it was mistake. He was emotionally overwhelmed during arguments i believe and he uttered ungodly words against prophet of Islam.

Remember law is law whether you are comfortable with the outcome or not. The way law see a crime is different from how average people see it.

In my opinion, solution is very simple. Appeal his judgement and let him walk free. I do not support death penalty for him. Death sentence should be reserved for unrepentant recurrent violators. Sometimes this people are funded and trained by foreign govt to abuse prophet of Islam. This is what happened a yr ago in Mauritania. Some people were funded and backed by French to blaspheme the prophet. They were caught and sentenced to death. After series of pleads and outcries they were sentenced to jail.

I hope this guy lives through this and mind his utterances in the future but I am in full support of blasphemy law. It is meant to check people.

oh sorry. Maybe I should rephrase this. The law in itself has nothing to do with Islam bcus it is not in the Qur'an. From what I read, it says "no one shall insult or blaspheme religious figures either by means songs or written materials". It appears to be"pubic moral law".

This is not a direct quote but paraphrase. So you can see it is not restricted to Islam. I just learned last night that it is actually Kano pena code.

What many don't seem to understand is that there are 2 laws in Nigeria. All South West, East and South East, South South use similar law when it comes to a specific case like defamation. Defamation of character in all States in Nigeria excluding North and ilorin is treated as civil case. But from ilorin and entire North, defamation of character, abuse, blasphemy are treated as criminal case. But in Yorubaland these cases are civil. Problem with many is that you are not aware of the law.

This is why if you live in the southwest and someone writes be false story about you, if you take want to deal seriously with the person, take your case to ilorin. Don't stay in Lagos. The person will never get out of the case easily. It is very serious. This same thing applies to Kano incident.

Let me give you example what happened recently bcuz that's I got to know how it works. Two famous guys had differences. Both of them live in South west. One lives in Lagos. Other lives in Osun state. The fellow that lives in Osun state accused the other of defamation of character. Because they had long standing issues, he decided he must take the case to different jurisdiction to deal with him. He took the case to ilorin where it was taken very seriously. If not by virtue of some lost evidences, the later would have been jailed for 7yrs. Defamation of character is a very serious case in Nigeria from ilorin upward. If you didn't know this now you know. So be very careful out there including sharing Facebook or WhatsApp write-up written by someone and you share it. The same applies to blasphemy. I just learned last night about the guy in Kano got into trouble bcus of hate song he shared through FB or what'sapp which is tantamount to blasphemy. Defamation of character is up to 7yrs behind bars.

Again, I am fully in support of Kano state law. It is their law just like any other states in America. These American states respect each other's laws. Matter of fact, if you are travelling to another state, your state would warn you to be aware of state law you are going bcus they don't want you to violate their law. Law is law. This is why at the back of US passport they advise US citizen to respect country's law they are going bcus they may not be able to help you if you get in trouble. This is respect they have for other country's law.

The only thing I reject about Kano or Northern penacode is that it is not across the board. Both Common and Sharia laws in Nigeria are hypocritically applied. This is why the entire country is a joke.

Sharia law only applies to Muslims. The guy who blasphemed is Muslim. If a Christian commits crime he or she has options to decide Sharia trial or common law. The state did not force Sharia on them.


So therefore, death penalty from Bible was applied in sharia which makes old laws stand. The Bible says

He would be dead long ago. But his case went through judicial process which means there is still possibility of having his judgement vacated if people would plea to the govt and not challenge the judgement.

Challenging this judgement is not helping the guy at all. You only provoke govt by that. So govt has the right to pass and enforce law. I support this. This has nothing to do with religion itself. It is govt decision.

If they born you well, go to Germany and tell them openly that you don't believe in holocaust. If you are a CEO or own your company or if you are govt employee, I can guarantee you that you will lose your job, your freedom and you will be jailed. It is illegal in Germany to deny Holocaust. A man wanted to pay his electric bill on January 2nd this year in Lagos. Upon getting there, he found employees outside praying (Christians ofcourse). They delayed him for 30 mins. After that they told him that they are just getting started. They prayed for another 1hr and this guy was getting angry already.

Remember this is a govt office, NEPA. I won't even support Muslims should do that. Work is work. It should have absolutely nothing to do with religion. But these people kept the man waiting for hrs until he called their headquarters in Marina. He was told that every govt office is on prayer session for New Year. Abeg, prayers on January 1st no reach God?. Why prayers during business hours to infringe other people's right?.

You are all deceiving yourselves by saying Nigeria is a secular country. It is not. And they are full of double standards. They prayed and delayed customers from paying their electric bill but they would deny Muslim students from wearing hijab to school yet, they claim Nigeria is a secular country.
