PoliticsTofa And The Dangers Of Political Indiscretion - By Abdullahi Usman by Abel7777(op): 7:46am On May 22
Political communication is not merely about speaking; it is about understanding the consequences of every statement made in the public space.

For a serving Director General of Media and Public Enlightenment, every appearance on national television carries weight, implications, and strategic significance.

Unfortunately, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa’s recent comments during his media chat on Arise Television exposed a troubling level of political immaturity and recklessness that raises serious questions about his understanding of political communication and party loyalty.

By openly stating that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf joined the APC with the full consent of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and further suggesting that Kwankwaso is working for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, Bature unintentionally exposed sensitive political calculations that should ordinarily remain within the realm of strategic political management.

Such careless disclosures are politically damaging on multiple fronts.

First, they create confusion within party structures and among supporters who expect discipline, coordination, and strategic communication from government spokespersons.

Political alliances, negotiations, and understandings are delicate matters that require maturity and discretion, not careless public commentary aimed at media sensationalism.

Second, his comments risk undermining the credibility of all parties involved. In politics, perception is everything. Once a senior government official begins publicly discussing alleged behind-the-scenes arrangements, it fuels suspicion, distrust, and unnecessary controversy among party members and the electorate.

Third, Bature’s statements portray a dangerous lack of political restraint expected from someone occupying such a sensitive office. A Director General of Media is expected to protect the political interests of their administration, manage narratives carefully, and avoid statements that could create internal cracks or external backlash.

Instead, his comments handed political opponents ammunition while simultaneously exposing what many would consider confidential political manoeuvring.

More disturbing is the implication that personal excitement over television appearances may have overtaken professional judgment. Media visibility should never come at the expense of strategic discipline.

Public office holders, especially those responsible for information management, must understand that every word spoken on national television can have lasting political consequences.

At a time when political actors are carefully positioning themselves ahead of future electoral contests, reckless commentary from government officials can destabilise alliances, weaken trust, and complicate ongoing political calculations.

Political maturity requires knowing when to speak, what to say, and, more importantly, what not to say.
Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa’s outing on Arise Television was, therefore, not a demonstration of political intelligence, but rather an unfortunate display of indiscretion capable of hurting the very interests he is expected to protect.

In politics, loose talk is costly. When such loose talk comes from the office responsible for managing public communication, it becomes not just embarrassing but dangerous.

PoliticsDLA: New Party Unveils Ideological Agenda, Targets Economic Reform, Security by Abel7777(op): 4:47pm On Mar 26
A new political party, the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has announced its entry into Nigeria’s political space, outlining an agenda focused on economic reform, national security, and governance driven by ideology.

In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Samuel M. Memeh, and National Publicity Secretary, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., the party said its formation was in response to Nigeria’s “systemic failure, economic stagnation, and insecurity.”

The party said it is founded on the principles of Pan-Africanism, ethical leadership, scientific advancement, and people-centred governance, which it intends to translate into policy actions.

The DLA said it would pursue a transition from a consumption-based economy to one driven by production, innovation, and industrialisation.

It listed its priorities to include support for local manufacturing, investment in technology and research, and the promotion of youth-led enterprises.

According to the party, Nigeria’s development depends on building systems that enable citizens to create wealth and expand economic opportunities.

The party expressed concern over insecurity affecting farming communities, including the destruction of farmlands and displacement of farmers.

It proposed legislative and policy measures to address the situation, including regulation of cattle movement and the adoption of ranching systems.

The DLA said such measures are necessary to protect farmers, ensure food security, and stabilise the economy.

The party called on Nigerians to support its platform, describing its emergence as part of a broader effort to rebuild the country through collective responsibility.

It said membership is open to individuals who align with its vision and urged citizens to engage with its policies and programmes.

The announcement comes as political activities begin to gather pace ahead of the next election cycle, with new and existing parties seeking to mobilise support.

PoliticsList Of ICPC Charges Against El-Rufai by Abel7777(op): 7:58am On Mar 24
EXCLUSIVE: ICPC to arraign Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai in Court Over Alleged Multi-Billion Naira Corruption Charges

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, will arraign former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai before the Federal High Court in Kaduna on a series of corruption-related charges.

El-Rufai, who has been in ICPC custody since mid-February following his transfer from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), faces allegations spanning abuse of office, money laundering, diversion of public funds, irregular contract awards, land fraud, and attempts to obstruct justice.

He is being arraigned alongside one Joel Adoga in suit number FHC/KD/73/2026. A separate charge (KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26) involving El-Rufai and Amadu Sule (also referred to as Ahmadu Sule or LEDA) has been filed at the Kaduna State High Court, with charges including abuse of office, fraud, and conferring undue advantage.

According to an alleged outline of the 10-count charges in connection with the case, the ICPC accuses El-Rufai of the following:

1. Excessive Severance Payment (Abuse of Office): Allegedly approving and receiving N289.8 million as severance benefits — far exceeding his lawful entitlement of approximately N20 million.

2. Money Laundering: Receiving funds he was not entitled to, including suspicious financial inflows linked to unlawful sources.

3. Receipt of Foreign Currency from Questionable Sources: Receiving foreign currency payments traced to individuals or entities connected to illicit activities.

4. Diversion of World Bank Funds (Criminal Breach of Trust): Diverting and misusing more than $1 million from a World Bank loan contrary to agreed terms.

5. Irregular Award of N11 Billion Light Rail Contract: Approving funds for a light rail project awarded to Indokaduna MRTS JV Nigeria Ltd, a company allegedly not properly registered, for a project that was never executed.

6. Procurement Breach — CCTV Contract (N4.61 Billion): Awarding a CCTV contract to Singularity Network Security Ltd in violation of Kaduna State procurement laws.

7. Undue Advantage in $22.475 Million Contract: Using his office to confer improper benefits on the same company (Singularity) through another contract valued at $22.475 million.

8. Land Fraud and False Representation: Conspiring with associate Ahmadu Sule and companies to submit false information to acquire land along the Kaduna-Zaria Expressway.

9. Unlawful Revocation and Reallocation of Land: Revoking a valid Certificate of Occupancy belonging to Mohammed Umar Karage and reallocating the land to associates, amounting to abuse of office and breach of trust.

10. Attempt to Obstruct Justice (Conspiracy): Conspiring to offer financial inducements in Nigeria and abroad (including in Dubai and Cairo) to influence investigators probing the Singularity contracts.

The ICPC, through its Head of Media and Public Communications, John Odey, confirmed that both sets of charges were filed on March 18, 2026, and that El-Rufai has been duly served with the processes. The commission described the allegations as involving conversion and possession of public property as well as money laundering at the federal level.

This development comes after weeks of detention that drew criticism from some political figures and civil society groups.

El-Rufai’s legal team has previously pushed back against what they termed “leaks” and prolonged holding without formal charges.

The arraignment marks a step in the ICPC’s probe into alleged financial improprieties during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor. Proceedings at the Federal High Court in Kaduna are expected to commence this morning, with the court set to hear the charges and the former governor’s plea.

PoliticsGroup Hails Mbah At 54, Commends Results-driven Leadership by Abel7777(op): 1:21pm On Mar 17
A civic advocacy group, Concerned Professionals for Good Governance, has congratulated Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, on his 54th birthday, praising his results-oriented leadership style.

In a statement signed by Okechukwu Nwafor, the group said the governor’s approach to governance has drawn attention for its focus on clear targets, timelines, and measurable outcomes.

According to the group, Mbah has sought to redefine governance by prioritising tangible development across key sectors, including education, infrastructure, and economic expansion.

It highlighted education reform as a major achievement of the administration, particularly the introduction of smart schools and digital learning infrastructure aimed at equipping young people for a rapidly evolving global environment. The group noted that the governor’s policies reflect a commitment to making education both accessible and relevant for national development.

The statement also commended ongoing infrastructure projects across the state, such as road construction, transportation improvements, and urban renewal initiatives. It described these efforts as strategic investments designed to boost economic growth and enhance ease of movement for residents and businesses.

“By treating infrastructure not just as physical projects but as economic enablers, the administration is positioning the state for increased commerce and prosperity,” the group stated.

The group further observed that Mbah has built a reputation as a hands-on leader through regular project inspections and public engagement, a style it said underscores his administration’s focus on delivery.

Reflecting on the governor’s birthday, the group said the occasion provides an opportunity to assess progress while looking ahead to future expectations.

“As Governor Mbah marks his 54th birthday, it is a moment not only to celebrate his personal achievements but also to reflect on the direction of governance in Enugu State and the ambitions that still lie ahead,” the statement added.

The group wished the governor continued strength and success in his leadership journey.

PoliticsOnitsha Market: Soludo Defies Court Order, Begins Demolish Today by Abel7777(op): 9:57am On Mar 01
Anambra state governor Governor Charles Soludo is set to start the demolish of Onitsha main market on sunday, 1st March, 2026. A court order had earlier restrained him from any further action.

Keen watchers of the development said the governor actions are in clear disregard of court orders and an affront on the nation's judiciary.

It would be recalled that the High Court of Anambra state had directed all parties in the suit before it to maintain the status quo.

The court had asked parties to wait for the fixed date in March when the case will be heard.

Traders Association had lamented the inhumanity of Soludo's harsh order for demolish. They said the order will cause more hardship for the traders whose business can not withstand the government planned restructuring.

They suggested other methods to the government if it intends to give the market an upgrade.

Consequently, a memo from the Mayor of Onitsha had indicated that traders were to be given another week of grace before the demolitions.

But in a surprise move, there are now indications that the demolitions may start on Sunday, 1st March, 2026.

Raising alarms, some top traders are concerned that Soludo disregard to court order will rubbish the rule of law and President Bola Tinubu posture on the fundamental human rights of Nigerians.

The further noted that Soludo's action is an abuse of the roles of the police and the military in civil matters.

PoliticsCourt Stops Governor Soludo From Demolition Onitsha Market by Abel7777(op): 8:51pm On Feb 27
The High Court of Anambra state has asked Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State to halt plans of demolishing the Onitsha market.

Governor Soludo had announced plans to clear out the market shops at a recent meeting with community leaders, where he bemoaned what he termed the "deplorable state of the market".

He stated that the market no longer attracts buyers like it did in the past. He thus said he would embark on a "painful" exercise to demolish the market to bring up to the standards of Taiwan.

But in a swift move, the traders who will be greatly affected by the exercise rushed to the court to ask the governor to halt the move as it would inflict grave hardship for the traders.

Ruling on the petition signed by traders of Human Fence Zone One Line of the Onitsha main Market, justice J. I. Nweze urged all parties to maintain status quo as at today pending the hearing of the substantive suit which is scheduled for 16th of March this year.

Some of the market traders who spoke to correspondents believe Soludo was merely out for vendetta and accuse the Governor of trying to confiscate the shops and give them to his cronies.

They lamented the hardship the demolition exercise will cause them in terms of monetary loss, stressing that the timing at these critical time was wrong.

Meanwhile, the United Igbo Elders Council has also appealed to Soludo to reconsider, suggesting alternative solutions like building extension markets or relocating some sections instead of outright demolition.

The Union further drew the attention of President Tinubu government to deter police involvement in the development. They stressed that Onitsha market is now a national treasure that should not be left in the hands of adventurous governors.

Mr Jude Nwafor, a resident and trader in Onitsha urge the Governor to avoid actions that would further deteriorate the fragile security situation in the State that is only beginning to improve lately.

Some of the traders told journalists that the court's decision is a victory for the rule of law and human rights.

PoliticsEnugu’s Economic Reinvention Under Mbah Draws National Attention - Group by Abel7777(op): 11:43am On Feb 19
Enugu State is undergoing a significant transformation aimed at repositioning it as a hub for industry, technology, commerce, and tourism.

This position was highlighted in a statement issued by Concerned Professionals for Good Governance, a leadership advocacy group, and signed by its representative, Okechukwu Nwafor.

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has pursued policies and projects designed to shift the state from a civil service–dependent economy toward a diversified, investment-driven model.

For decades, Enugu was widely perceived as a public sector–oriented state with modest industrial activity. Recent reforms and infrastructure investments, however, are reshaping that narrative and strengthening the state’s appeal to investors and development partners.

Governance Reforms Improve Business Environment

One of the administration’s early initiatives was Executive Order 005, which mandates Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to publish service-level agreements outlining procedures, costs, and timelines. The policy is intended to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery.

The digitization of land administration through the Enugu Geographic Information Services (ENGIS) has streamlined land title processing, reduced delays, and improved access to land for commercial and industrial development.

Infrastructure Expansion Driving Growth

Infrastructure development remains central to the state’s economic agenda. Key interventions include:
-Construction and rehabilitation of road networks linking rural production centres to markets.
-Expansion of water supply capacity from approximately 2 million to 120 million litres per day.
-Passage of the Enugu State Electricity Law to enable private participation in power generation.
-Deployment of fibre-optic infrastructure and AI-enabled surveillance systems to enhance security and support digital commerce.
These efforts are aimed at strengthening connectivity, improving service delivery, and supporting industrial productivity.

Industrial Revival and Agricultural Modernisation

The government has revitalized dormant industries such as Sunrise Flour Mills, United Palm Produce Ltd., and Nigergas Ltd., restoring production capacity and employment opportunities.

The Lion Business Park and Free Trade and Industrial Zone are designed to attract global manufacturers and logistics companies, while large-scale agricultural estates and commercial farming initiatives are modernizing food production and strengthening export value chains.

Education and Technology Development

The Smart Green Schools initiative is deploying digitally enabled learning environments across wards in the state, equipping students with skills in coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

Investments in digital governance and civil service capacity building are also transforming public sector operations and improving service delivery.

Transport and Regional Connectivity Improvements

Efforts to modernize mobility include the launch of Enugu Air, development of five ultramodern transport terminals, and the introduction of a state-wide mass transit system powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.
These initiatives are expected to enhance regional connectivity and position Enugu as a logistics and travel hub.

Hospitality, Tourism, and Conference Economy

The restoration of the historic Presidential Hotel and the construction of modern conference and accommodation facilities form part of the state’s tourism and hospitality strategy. Officials say these projects aim to attract business events, medical tourism, and international visitors.
Industry observers note that Enugu has increasingly hosted national conferences and corporate events, reflecting its growing reputation as a business destination.

Security Improvements Restore Commercial Activities

Authorities attribute improved commercial activity to enhanced security coordination and stakeholder engagement. Collaboration with security agencies, regional leaders, and community stakeholders has helped restore economic activity previously disrupted by sit-at-home protests in parts of the South East.

Technology Investment Signals Future Growth

The signing of a $20 million technology investment project is expected to strengthen Enugu’s emergence as a technology and manufacturing hub. The initiative aims to support local production of digital devices and create new industrial opportunities.

Toward a Diversified and Resilient Economy

According to the statement signed by Okechukwu Nwafor, the ongoing reforms reflect a broader vision of reducing reliance on federal allocations while building a resilient, diversified, and technology-driven economy.
As reforms and projects continue to unfold, stakeholders emphasize that sustained implementation and policy continuity will be crucial to maintaining momentum and ensuring inclusive growth across Enugu State.

PoliticsJournalists Allege Non-payment After Covering Ministers Empowerment Programme by Abel7777(op): 9:01am On Feb 14
Journalists who covered last Saturday’s empowerment programme organized by the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, have raised concerns over alleged refusal of the organisers to pay media coverage allowances after the event.

The empowerment programme which took place in Kano was attended by journalists from various print, broadcast and online media organisations who were officially invited to report the distribution of empowerment items to beneficiaries.

However, Blazon News Nigeria gathered that at the end of the programme, journalists were allegedly informed to expect their logistics or honorarium to be paid latest by Monday but turn out to be a deceit.

Some of the affected journalists, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the development as disappointing and unprofessional.

“We were duly invited and we carried out our duties professionally. At the end of the event, we were told to hold on till Monday ,” one reporter said.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain reactions from the Minister’s Chief of Staff, Abdullahi Isah Kauranmata was unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to him remained unanswered.

"It's deliberate, it has been one excuse to another since last Saturday. I don't think Hajiya Mariya is aware of this and that is why she needs to know. We were at the venue from 9Am till almost 7PM and this is what we get in return", another journalist added.

Politics15 Years Old Kano Christian Girl Abducted, Forcefully Converted To Islam by Abel7777(op): 7:46am On Jan 09
The Family of a 15 Years Old Girl, Ummi Tambaya from Kano State have raised the alarm after some youths kidnapped and allegedly connieved with a shari'a commander to forcefully convert their daughter to Islam from Christianity.

Ummi a native of Kadafa Bari District, Rogo L.G.A Kano State went missing since 1st December after a young Muslim man from the village who has been asking for her hand in marriage despite the family's refusal was accused of abducting her but initially denied knowing her whereabouts.

According to Pastor Kabiru Usman who is familiar with the case, "after a long search and relentless efforts, we discovered the girl has been kept under the custody of the Hisbah Commander of Rogo, Malam Sani that she wants to convert to Islam.

"Close persons to the Hisbah Commander revealed that Abba Sheshu, Mansir Surajo and one Tasi,u Bello were the persons who abducted her for a whole month despite her mental illness and prevented her from seeking medical help"

Usman further revealed that despite the interventions of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Rogo, Suleiman Ibrahim and the vilege district head name Umar Abdulkadir, the Hisbah Commander refused to produce the said girl.

Kabiru further lamented how the Department of State Services (DSS) office in the area remained indifferent towards the case and rather than rendering help, an officer, one Abdulrashid Muhammad Abubakar collected the sum of Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) from a member of the family to be used for fueling of the vehicle from the State Headquarters.

"It will surprise the public to know that the DSS in the state have refused to act on this matter. In fact, one of their officers in the Local Government collected money up to N20,000 that officers from the headquarters needed it to buy fuel".

"We are appealing to relevant authorities to come to our aid. The family of Ummi are traumatized, we don't know her present condition and we are afraid the culprits will escape this because we have had five other similar cases of forceful conversions of our girls in the area.

"They lied to us that Ummi was with Human rights, it was a lie. The Hisbah Commander is fully aware of her whereabouts. Let those concerned come to our aid", he pleads for help.

PoliticsTinubu: Rulers Like U Who Don't Listen, Populate D Ignoble Dumpsites Of History by Abel7777(op): 9:42am On Jan 01
Since yesterday afternoon our time I watched the razzmatazz and funfair by which nations embraced the New Year, the earliest parties happened in and around the Islands of Kiribati, Chatham, Samoa, and Tonga, by the way Chatham Island is in New Zealand, as Australia, Russia, Papua New Guinea, China et al in no particular order were the 2026 early birds. In Nigeria what remains remarkable year in year out is the religiosity of the moment ditto the Cross-Over Night Services, and the 'prophecies' mostly by merchants of faith. I hope we do more work than praying in 2026.

Now that our Imperial King and Ruler along with his minders and Courtjesters have imposed a FORGED Tax Law on Nigeria and Nigerians, should we pray and fast OR agitate and mobilize against it? Must we allow the descent to dictatorship and despotism OR fight for the Soul of our nation? And make no mistakes, the universe is JUST, the way we make our bed, so we SHALL lie on it.

I'm certainly unwilling to address the New Year Goodwill Message of a President I do not know his whereabouts, I am also unwilling to join issues with those who maintain that it doesn't matter... If it doesn't matter to them, it matters to Nigerians that our President is presently the most traveled President in the world, and about the only one that delivered his New Year message from a foreign land. We MUST lampoon his absenteeism, and be ready at all times to call a spade, a spade.

On the FORGED TAX LAW. If we allow the FAKE and the FORGED Tax Law, we must be ready to embrace more forgery and fakery in 2026, after all the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration lacks scruples, it is shameless and manifestly rogue. Do you need any more evidence, isn't implementing a FORGED Law, Rogue? And by the way, is our President in France, England or Italy... Oh! I forgot, according to egbon Bayo Onanuga he is in Europe, wherever that is.

2026 promises great spectacles starting today, definitely. I'm not prophesying like the merchants of faith would, I am stating the obvious. It is the year of politics with 2027 next-door. It is the year of long knives, of betrayal, of subterfuge and of perfidy. And it definitely will place the interests of the men and women of power above the nation and her citizens. They don't care about us, and are unwilling to do so, therefore we MUST be ready and willing to organize for our collective good than agonize, mindful of the fact that the Power of the people is mightier than those in power and their shenanigans.

Now that the Nigerian god and those 'standing on his mandate' have achieved a near one-party State, we have got interesting times ahead. The challenge is not just about forging a credible alternative or building another strong Party, the way out of the present mess is the PEOPLE, the pathway is the STREET, the weapon is TRUTH, and the manifesto PATRIOTISM and COMMITMENT TO THE COMMON GOOD. No great movement or redemption is served alacarte, we MUST fight for it, Folks, and if need be, we MUST be ready to die for it.

The 2026 Appropriation Bill before the National Assembly is loudly about them, yes about the merchants of power... and make no mistakes like the one before, they will pad and inflate the Budget to favour themselves and their cronies, they will pay liars and sycophants to defend it, they will sing the praise of the mandate FORGER and gaslight the dumb and the clueless, and they will mendaciously declare that Nigeria has never had it so good, they will lie to themselves, lie before God, and lie with everything sacred because they are soulless and shameless. We have got some difficult days ahead BUT we MUST not give up. We must be ready and strongly so, for eternal vigilance is the price that guarantees freedom.

I do not want to trouble your New Year Day with a lengthy and a cumbersome read after all we have a FORGED Tax Law to grapple with, however I promise to return in a few days with Part III knowing that nothing BUT the TRUTH can make Nigeria whole.

Happy New Year, Folks... The Struggle Continues.

Politics2026: A Peep Into The Future Of Taraba Under Gov Kefas – By Emmanuel Bello by Abel7777(op): 9:01am On Dec 31, 2025
The year 2026 promises to be a very busy year. Politicking will kick into overdrive, and the power permutations will hit the super highway. But for Taraba state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, it promises to be a year of consolidation and conclusions on many of his lofty plans and ideas. 2026 will be business unusual! Gov Kefas came into this job with an unquenchable zeal to transform Taraba from a rural state to one that is reckoned with globally. He hasn't lost a step in that direction.

That is why, in the last two years, he has resisted the temptations for superficial developments for cheap applause. Rather, he focused on the silently arduous but needed internal surgery the state needed. From chaos to a concrete masterplan, the governor took his time to dig a solid foundation that would outlive his administration. What critics saw as a slow pace in major physical development was actually the deliberate redesigning of structures and putting the pillars in place for a robust takeoff.

Thus, 2026 will be the year of gains and harvest. Citizens will full the heavy impact of meticulous planning, deft investment, and strategic thinking. It is the year of work and more work!

SECURITY

In security, Gov Kefas has already laid the foundations of an impregnable state. The last year saw the setting up of a symbolic protective wall around the state. What's more, the year 2025 was one that tested the security architecture of Nigeria as well as the regions within it. Consequently, the year also brought out the best in the retired soldier turned politician. Today, Taraba stands as a beacon of hope as far as security is concerned. Even the governor's worst critics have attested to the new lease of life that a secured space has brought to all.

EDUCATION

In spite of the teething problems of the last two years since Governor Kefas declared free education in the state, the policy has subsisted and survived. Primary and secondary school education have remained free and compulsory. University students pay only half of their tuition fees while the government paid the rest. In 2026, the free education policy will benefit fully from the creation of additional ministries of Tertairy education and one of pre primary and secondary school. In deed, 2026 will see the fine tunning and better appreciation of the great efforts of the governor to make Taraba an education hub in the North and the country.

HEALTH

In the health sector, Gov Kefas's introduction of mobile hospitals and more ambulances in the rural areas are revolutionising the sector. The idea is to cut off medical tourism to other states and make the state self reliant as far as hospitals are concerned. With a profound University Teaching Hospital in Wukari among others health institutions, 2026 promises to be one the healthiest years in Taraba state.

ROADS

Starting from October 2025, Gov Kefas began the road revolution in Taraba state. Not playing mere politics with the issues of road networks, the methodical governor took his time to study the situation. "We want roads that will stand the test of time," he declared. All the groundwork is done already with reputable contractors mobilised to the sites. The Taraba roads will be the envy of the world as they will compete favourably with others in terms of durability. 2026 will literally be the road to eldorado.

AIRPORT

Taraba state now has a world-class airport in Jalingo. The Danbaba Suntai airport has gone through a solid transformation in the last two years. But Governor Kefas is not done yet. Plans are underway to further expand the runway and sign up more airlines. Mordern Aviation Equipments like the Instrument Landing System (ILS), the VHF Omnidirectional Range (VOR) and the runway lights have been installed to to help planes land in bad weather, at night and properly guide the plane to land. Air travel will be boosted too by the world-class TY Danjuma Airport at Kashimbilla Takum, comercial flights are set to begin at the Airport too. A brain child of former defence minister and elderstatesman, the airport is one of its kind. 2026 promises to see more activities on its tarmac.

AGRICULTURE

The last two years saw the governor engaging top-level stakeholders in the agricultural sector. The tractorisation policy kicked off with over 100 units of tractors from the Czech Republic. In 2026, the governor will consolidate and energise the sector further. More agencies have been created to facilitate loans to farmers. The synergy built with partners such as Lagos state will yield more fruits this year. Safety in the farms will translate to more farming activities. Food security will thus receive a massive boost in 2026.

SOLID MINERALS.

If there is one area the governor has continued to receive accolades, it is in the solid minerals sector. As we write this, all plas are underway to begin the prosperous exploration of Taraba solid mineral vast reserves. The last two years saw the governor mapping out the state's deep resources. In 2026, Taraba will begin to reap from its divine endowment.

WORKERS ENTITLEMENT

Governor Kefas is a die-hard believer in staff growth, welfare, and job satisfaction. He is committed to the training and retraining of staff, as well as giving them the right tools to succeed. Thus, he restored the prompt payments of entitlement and pensions/gratuities. In fact, pensions and gratuities have not been paid for close to 14 years before the advent of Governor Kefas. He swiftly returned that very golden entitlement to aged parents. 2026 will see the end to all crises associated with the civil force as all the necessary measures needed are in place now to clean the proverbial Augean stable.

PoliticsSNG Demands Immediate Suspension Of NSA, Public Disclosure Of Terror Sponsors by Abel7777(op): 9:31am On Dec 21, 2025
The Save Nigeria Group (SNG) USA expresses grave outrage and deep alarm over Nigeria’s rapidly deteriorating security situation, marked by relentless terrorist attacks, mass kidnappings, targeted killings, and credible allegations of internal compromise within the nation’s security architecture.

In a press statement signed by Stephen OSEMWEGIE President Save Nigeria Group USA and Victor Onyeka Ben
Director of MediaSave Nigeria Group USA, said the group is particularly appalled by disturbing reports from Kwara State indicating that a captured Fulani Islamist militant, with an Identification card confirming him as a members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) allegedly confessed to receiving weapons and logistical support traceable to state-linked security channels, including the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), headed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The group said "If these allegations are even partially true, they constitute a monumental betrayal of public trust, a catastrophic breach of national security, and potential crimes against humanity. In any functioning democracy, such revelations would immediately trigger emergency parliamentary hearings, independent investigations, and the suspension of implicated officials. Instead, the Nigerian Government’s response has been dangerous silence, reinforcing public fear, distrust, and the growing perception of institutional impunity."

The group also said Nigeria today faces a systemic security collapse, evidenced by repeated mass kidnappings ofschoolchildren and worshippers, persistent attacks on Christian communities and vulnerable Muslim populations, coordinated violence across Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and Plateau States, near-total absence of accountability for perpetrators and their enablers.

"This pattern reflects not isolated criminality, but a widespread and systematic failure of state protection, with hallmarks of religious persecution and ethnic cleansing, particularly in the Middle Belt.

The group went further to demand as follows

" 1- Immediate Suspension of NSA Nuhu
We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to demonstrate leadership and moral courage by immediately suspending Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, along with any other officials named or implicated in these allegations, pending the outcome of a full, transparent, and independent investigation. No official is above scrutiny when national security and human lives are at stake.

2. Independent National and International Investigation
We demand a credible, independent investigation, with international security and human-rights participation, into:
• Allegations of arming, shielding, or enabling terrorist groups
• Security-sector complicity or gross negligence
• Crimes amounting to religious persecution, mass displacement, and crimes against humanity

3. International Criminal Court (ICC) Alert
We formally place the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, on notice. The scale, persistence, and pattern of violence in Nigeria—particularly where state complicity or willful failure is alleged—meets the threshold for international criminal review.

4. Immediate Rescue of All Kidnapped Victims
The Federal Government must deploy all instruments of state power to immediately rescue:
• The 37 ECWA church members kidnapped in Kogi State on Sunday, December 14, 2025
• The remaining 165 Catholic schoolchildren still held captive following the mass abduction at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Niger State
While we acknowledge the rescue of approximately 100 children, partial success does not absolve failure when children and worshippers remain in captivity.

5. Protection of At-Risk Communities
We demand an urgent, all-of-government security surge to protect communities in Benue and Plateau States, where credible intelligence points to planned large-scale Christmas Day terrorist attacks. Failure to act proactively will amount to criminal negligence.
We further condemn in the strongest possible terms the brutal killing of 12 tin miners in Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, on December 16, 2025. These were civilians engaged in lawful work. Enough is enough. The killings must stop—now.

6. Emergency Humanitarian Response
We call for urgent federal and international food aid for the millions of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across Nigeria and neighboring countries. While Save Nigeria Group USA has conducted food-relief interventions this past week at a few IDP camps in different States of Nigeria, the magnitude of hunger and displacement has overwhelmed private and civil-society efforts, particularly during this festive season.

7. Public Disclosure of Terrorism Sponsors

SNG USA reiterates its firm demand that the Federal Government of Nigeria immediately publish the names of all individuals, entities, and networks identified as sponsors, financiers, or enablers of terrorism in Nigeria.
Successive governments have acknowledged the existence of such lists, yet have refused to name names or prosecute offenders, fueling impunity and public distrust. A government that claims to be fighting terrorism cannot continue to shield terror sponsors.

8. Presidential Address to the Nation
We demand that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu immediately address the nation on the escalating terrorist violence, mass kidnappings, and killings.
This address must:
• Acknowledge the full scale of the crisis
• Outline clear, time-bound security actions
• Address allegations of internal compromise
• Assure Nigerians that no official or financier of terror is above the law
Silence from the Presidency at this critical moment is unacceptable and risks being interpreted as indifference, abdication of responsibility, or tacit tolerance of impunity ".

CONCLUSION
Nigeria stands at a historic crossroads. The choice before its leadership is stark:
• Justice or impunity
• Reform or collapse
• Protection of life or complicity in death
The world is watching. History will record who stood for the people—and who stood aside.
Save Nigeria Group USA will not be silent.

PoliticsSC Overrules Tinubu’s Pardon, Reinstates Death Sentence For Maryam Sanda by Abel7777(op): 1:59pm On Dec 12, 2025
The Supreme Court has struck down the pardon granted by President Bola Tinubu to Maryam Sanda, an Abuja-based housewife sentenced to death by hanging in 2020 for the murder of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, during a domestic dispute.

In October, President Tinubu commuted Sanda’s death sentence to 12 years imprisonment on compassionate grounds.

However, in a split decision of four to one, the apex court on Friday reinstated the death penalty, affirming the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which had upheld the sentence handed down by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Supreme Court dismissed Sanda’s appeal, declaring it “without merit.”

Justice Moore Adumein, who delivered the lead judgment, held that the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, and that the Court of Appeal was correct to affirm the trial court’s ruling.

Justice Adumein further stated that it was inappropriate for the Executive to exercise its power of pardon in a case involving culpable homicide while an appeal was still pending before the courts.

The ruling marks a rare override of a presidential pardon by the Supreme Court, highlighting the judiciary’s insistence on upholding due process in criminal cases involving capital punishment.

PoliticsNCC Shines Among Top Five Best-performing Government Agencies In 2025 by Abel7777(op): 11:21pm On Dec 10, 2025
NCC Shines Among Top Five Best-Performing Government Agencies in 2025, Recognized by PEBEC

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been honored as one of the top five best-performing Federal Government agencies for 2025, under the Transparency and Efficiency Category, by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC). This prestigious recognition was announced at the PEBEC Awards and Gala Night held on Tuesday at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, celebrating agencies that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to improving Nigeria's business environment.

The NCC was ranked alongside notable agencies including the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, which emerged the overall best-performing agency, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in second place, the Nigeria Customs Service, and the Nigerian Ports Authority. According to a press statement signed by Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Head of Public Affairs at NCC, this award underscores the Commission's relentless pursuit of transparency, accountability, and operational excellence in its regulatory approach.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Commission, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to maintaining high standards of governance and service delivery. "This recognition is an affirmation of the values that guide our work: transparency, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to regulatory excellence. It signals that the reforms we have pursued, the systems we have strengthened, and the decisions we have taken are yielding the right results," Dr. Maida stated.

He emphasized that the award is both a validation of past efforts and a call to deepen the Commission’s engagement with Nigerians. "As an economic regulator, our mandate is to create an environment where operators can thrive—an environment that attracts investment and sustains healthy competition, ensuring consumers enjoy the best possible choices," he added. Dr. Maida assured that the NCC will continue to prioritize quality service, fairness, and collaboration with stakeholders to drive progress in the telecommunications sector.

PEBEC Director-General, Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, speaking at the event, described the awards as a celebration of reform champions who have gone beyond compliance to set new standards for public service delivery. "This evening is not merely an awards ceremony; it is a powerful affirmation of possibilities, honouring the champions who have moved beyond compliance, embracing excellence as the new standard for public service delivery," she said. Mustapha-Audu highlighted that these achievements reflect the collective resolve to position Nigeria as the most attractive and predictable business destination in Africa.

In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs PEBEC, commended the agencies for their contributions to Nigeria’s economic aspirations. "The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council has spent the last couple of years championing reforms that speak to the whole of our economic aspirations. The reforms that make it easier to do business, that restore your best confidence, that ensure our institutions work in the spirit of national growth," he said. Shettima lauded the awardees, emphasizing that collaborative efforts across ministries, departments, and sectors would drive Nigeria’s success.

The NCC’s recognition comes amid its ongoing efforts to enhance the telecoms sector, promote innovation, and ensure consumer protection. With this award, the Commission signals its intent to sustain initiatives that boost transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in Nigeria’s communications industry.

PhonesHow To Save Mobile Data: Smart Tips For MTN, Airtel, Glo & T2 Users by Abel7777(op): 11:13pm On Dec 10, 2025
I became serious about managing my mobile data the day an entire bundle vanished before midday. I had bought it the night before, confident I was covered—only to wake up to lagging apps and a near-empty balance. That experience made one thing clear: data does not disappear without a cause.

If you’ve had a similar moment of shock, here are practical steps to help you stretch your data on MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Glo, and 9mobile Nigeria.

1. Turn On Data Saver

Most smartphones offer a built-in data saver mode that limits background data use.
• Android: Settings > Network & internet > Mobile Network > Data Saver
• iOS: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Low Data Mode

2. Restrict Background Data

Many apps consume data silently.
• Android: Settings > Apps > [App] > Mobile Data > Off Background Data
• iOS: Settings > Cellular > Toggle off data for non-essential apps

3. Monitor Your Data Consumption
• Android: Settings > Network & internet > Data usage
• iOS: Settings > Cellular (reset statistics monthly)

4. Always Use Wi-Fi for Heavy Tasks

Downloads, updates, backups, and large files should be done on secure Wi-Fi networks.

5. Turn Off Auto-Updates
• Android (Play Store): Settings > Auto-update apps > Over Wi-Fi only
• iOS: Settings > App Store > Off App Updates under Cellular Data

6. Manage Streaming Quality

Lower video resolution on YouTube/Netflix and download playlists on music apps over Wi-Fi.

7. Use Lite Apps

Consider apps like Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, and Twitter Lite to save data and battery.

With a few habit adjustments, your data will last much longer. Remember: data doesn’t just vanish—it follows your digital lifestyle.

PoliticsTheophilus Danjuma Celebrates His 88th Birthday Today by Abel7777(op): 6:18am On Dec 09, 2025
Birthday: Theophilus Danjuma Turns 88 Today!

The Quintessential Gen Ty Danjuma At 88 (a Birthday Tribute) -by Emmanuel Bello

At the height of the civil war, a journalist had cornered General TY Danjuma to get his thoughts about the ongoing carnage. To the reporter's shock, the well-spoken but courageous soldier did not gloat or sound bloodthirsty. Rather, Gen Danjuma was compassionate, articulate, and very clear about the direction of the war. He expressed regrets that officers who are well known to them will have to die in the heat of battle. He regretted the violence and the loss of lives on both sides. He noted further that the igbos were not enemies but friends, brothers, and neighbours caught up in the mess of an unnecessary civil war. It was in the heat of war, but the unmistakably courage and calmness of the man seeped through every word emanating from him. Not for him the arrogance of triumph or the bitterness of the battle. His calm composure in the face of the danger and fire, his leadership in the midst of chaos, and his patriotism at the height of national confusion were just all too palpable.

Years later, after the bitter war, Gen TY Danjuma was to carry on the same mein: straight forward, bold, and thoroughly disciplined. No single Nigerian, or indeed African, has remained like a statue of virtues, kindness, and courage like General TY Danjuma. He is clearly in a class of his own: taciturn, self effacing, and steadfast.

He is the myth, and the man all rolled in one. The world famous war hero is perhaps the most talked about Nigerian. Yet, he is decidedly silent, mysterious, and completely focused. Over these years, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, GCON, has continued to remain the main issue in Nigerian politics. His blessing is sought by all. His guidance has remained the most wanted, and his endorsement is believed to be the magic wand.

Wealthy but not detached from daily realities, highly influential, but not pompous, General Danjuma defies any traditional template. To gaze at him is to behold the near divine presence of the sphinx: indecipherable and cryptic. This has made him both fearsome and loving at the same time.

A truly boardroom General, how he has manovered through the trenches of the business world without stiffing workers or outsmarting partners is the stuff of epic tales. He is a businessman/investor who has not abandoned the discipline and transparency required to lead troops to bloody war-fields. In power politics, he is a political guru who hasn't traded honesty, character, and uprightness for the slippery path of power mongering.

Above all, it General Danjuma proclivity for straight talking that has earned him a permanent place in the Pantheon. Whether he is addressing world leaders or his tribesmen in his native Takum in Taraba state, it is the same no-nonsense say-it-like-it-is mode. No filters, no colouring - just raw truths. It is an effective method as it endears as well as disarms all at once.

General Danjuma is a library of unwritten books, an ocean of immeasurable resources, and a lifelong muse of inspiration. As we celebrate him today, it is obvious that the good elderstatesman remains clear minded, compassionate, and courageous. He is the ultimate compass in an almost rudderless world, a strong tower of confidence, and an unrepentant, fearless advocate for good governance. Like the proverbial old wine, he just keeps getting better with time.

PoliticsFanwo, Salary Payment By Government Is Workers' Entitlement, Not An Achievement by Abel7777(op): 10:19am On Oct 31, 2025
By Ozumi Abdul

This morning, while casually browsing through my Facebook feed, I stumbled upon a post made by Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Femi Fanwo. In his post, Honorable
Fanwo attempted to justify the payment of salaries to civil servants in Kogi State as an “achievement” of the present administration.

I paused for a moment, read it again, and shook my head in disbelief. For a man who occupies the exalted position of image maker of a state government, such a post was not only a professional misstep but also an unfortunate blunder in public communication.
For context, here is what Fanwo wrote:

"They said the payment of salaries is not an achievement. I agree. No questions. But when it is not paid, it becomes a failure. Isn't it?

"Government resources have competing pressures. Education is there, healthcare is there, roads are there, agriculture is there, youth and women empowerment is there, security is there, housing and Urban development too and many others across all the sectors.

"The magic of the Kogi State Government to still meet all of these needs and still pay salaries should be commended. Mr President has made more resources available to the States through his economic reforms. Bold, courageous, and commendable.

"But the Governor and his Accountant General have ensured financial engineering. Road projects everywhere. Projects on virtually all the campuses. Model Secondary Schools are being constructed. Security architecture is being funded heavily to keep our people safe. This is commendable.

"Thank you Mr Governor. Thank you Mama Alert, the indefatigable Accountant General of our dear state, Dr. Habibat Onumoko. You have shown that you truly love this state. Keep it up AG."

At first glance, Fanwo’s words seem well-meaning. But beneath the rhetoric lies a deep misconception that exposes poor understanding of governance communication and a flawed attempt at political spin. To portray the prompt payment of workers’ salaries as an “achievement” is a classic example of poor and counterproductive public relations.

Let’s be clear: payment of salaries is not an achievement. It is an obligation.
A responsible government pays its workers as and when due, not as an act of benevolence, but as a matter of statutory and moral duty. Governor Usman Ododo, being a responsible leader, has simply chosen to do what the law and ethics of governance demand. This is commendable in the sense of responsibility, but not laudable as a developmental milestone.
To celebrate it as an “achievement” is to set a dangerously low bar for governance and to insult the intelligence of the working population whose sweat and labour sustain the state machinery.

It is a poor and pauper-stricken thought for anyone to think that the prompt payment of civil servants’ salaries by a government is an achievement. Workers earn their pay through their service. Salaries are rights guaranteed by law, not favours dispensed by magnanimous governors.

Under international labour standards, specifically Article 23(3) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), it is clearly stated that “Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity.” This provision makes salary payment a matter of right and justice, not benevolence.
Similarly, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 95 (Protection of Wages Convention, 1949) mandates employers, including governments, to pay wages regularly and in full. The obligation is binding on all member states, including Nigeria.

At the national level, the Nigerian Labour Act (Cap L1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004) explicitly provides under Section 15(1) that “Wages shall become due and payable at the end of each period for which the contract is expressed to subsist.” In simple terms, the law expects that every employer, whether private or public , pays workers promptly at the end of each month.

Also, Kogi State’s Public Service Rules reinforce this, mandating that government employees receive their lawful entitlements as and when due. Nowhere in these laws is salary payment described as a government favour or an “achievement.”

Governor Usman Ododo’s administration has indeed initiated and continued several development-related projects across the state, road rehabilitation, construction of model secondary schools, support for security architecture, and expansion of infrastructure across tertiary institutions. These are tangible, measurable, and impactful indicators of achievement.

Those are the milestones that define success in governance.
Not the routine act of paying salaries.
By reducing the conversation to “we pay salaries promptly,” the Commissioner unwittingly diminishes the more profound developmental efforts of the administration. It is poor strategic communication, and a self-inflicted dent on the government’s image.

A good communicator would have emphasized service delivery, infrastructure expansion, social investment, agricultural development, and security improvement, not salary payment.

In a state that has suffered years of salary arrears and irregular and percentage payments in the past, it is understandable that the people are relieved to see some consistency. But turning that into a PR campaign slogan is, frankly, an insult to both the government and the civil servants.

Mr Fanwo must also remember that Kogi’s recent political history holds painful lessons. Governor Ododo cannot afford to repeat the public relations mistakes of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Despite Bello’s undeniable infrastructural footprint, which, in fairness, stands toe to toe with the achievements of late Prince Abubakar Audu, his administration’s legacy suffered heavy public backlash because of salary controversies. The failure to handle workers’ welfare with empathy and transparency attracted harsh media profiling that still haunts his image today. Many still refer to him with unflattering names like “thief” and “dictator”, not necessarily because of corruption convictions, but because of perceived insensitivity to workers’ welfare.

Governor Ododo, by contrast, started on a cleaner slate. He is young, focused, and determined to rebuild trust between government and the people. To associate his name with a misleading claim that “salary payment is an achievement” is a reckless PR error that could erode that goodwill.

The Kogi State government must also look beyond its borders. Across Nigeria, many states, especially in the North-West and South-West consider prompt salary payment a routine responsibility, not a trophy to flaunt.
States like Lagos, Oyo, and Rivers have long normalized the practice of paying civil servants promptly, even while executing massive infrastructural and social projects.

In those states, no commissioner would dare list “we pay salaries” as an accomplishment. It is understood that the very foundation of governance rests on the ability to meet obligations to workers.
Even in the North-Central region, a few states have risen above that mindset, recognizing that prompt salary payment is a constitutional duty. Kogi must not remain trapped in the cycle of celebrating the ordinary.

Let’s be honest, failure to pay salaries promptly is not only a sign of administrative incompetence; it is a woeful failure that reeks of irresponsibility. It cripples productivity, fuels corruption, and breeds resentment. When governments pay salaries late, they are not saving money — they are losing legitimacy.
Therefore, Ododo’s decision to pay salaries promptly deserves acknowledgment for responsibility, not celebration for achievement. The distinction matters, especially in a democracy where accountability and communication shape public perception.

Commissioner Fanwo must understand that his role as image maker goes beyond flattery. Strategic communication is about aligning government messaging with reality, reinforcing public trust, and protecting the brand of the administration.
Public relations is not about sycophancy. It is about credibility.
Every time a spokesperson misrepresents responsibility as achievement, the government loses moral capital.

The Ododo administration must ensure that its communication strategy reflects maturity, transparency, and sensitivity. The governor’s performance should speak through visible projects, economic reforms, and governance integrity, not through exaggerated praise for meeting basic obligations.

PoliticsMovement From PDP To APC Is For Our Collective Good. - Peter Mbah by Abel7777(op): 8:17am On Oct 15, 2025
Dateline 14th October, 2025, it was a political tsunami of sorts as almost the entire political structure of the Peoples Democracy Party PDP in Enugu State defected to the All Progressive Congress APC in a move that was clearly long overdue considering the protracted unwillingness of the PDP to heed the position of the South East Caucus concerning the leadership crisis that had become the Archiles Heel of the Party, unfortunately the PDP took the informed position of the South East Caucus lightly.

The very many troubles with the PDP and its unwillingness to heed the call of the South East Caucus to quickly attend and proactively resolve its leadership crisis, and more, obviously made the Transition From the PDP to the APC imperative. To the ebullient Governor of Enugu State Mr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah the move was studied; it is popular; it is proactive; and very clearly progressive. He said about the defection, "This is no whimsical decision. It’s a collective move by the political family in Enugu State, comprising members of the National Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, all the Local Government Chairmen and Councillors, all political appointees and over 80% of Party Executives."

The Governor and his Team were pretty clearheaded about the urgency of the moment, it wasn't about appearing politically correct or populist, it is about the destiny of the State, about Ndi'Enugu, about the future and the sustenance of the ongoing laudable Projects, and about the greater good. In the words of Governor Peter Mbah... "'When I declared that 'Tomorrow Is Here,' it struck a chord in your hearts. You put aside long-held skepticism and stood by us. Without that trust, the transformation we see today would never have happened. Let us pause for a moment and consider what this transformation looks like. It looks like Smart Green Schools nearing completion and primary healthcare centres in all 260 wards. It looks like crime down by 80%; Maternal, Under-5 and infant mortality rates reduced by 400 percent.'

'It looks like a Command and Control Centre with AI-embedded Security Surveillance System and 150 Distress Response Squad vehicles that guarantee safe streets and neighbourhoods. It looks like water flowing again through new mains and restored supply. It looks like over 1000 kilometres of paved roads. It looks like Internally-Generated Revenue up 600%. It looks like a fully booked International Conference Centre pouring money into our local economy. It looks like direct flights taking off – with Enugu Air linking us to key cities across Nigeria and beyond. It looks like 3 million visitors to Enugu by 2026 – with Nigeria’s first zipline, 4 immersive eco-tourist sites. It looks like commuting in comfortable CNG buses at 5 world-class terminals; and having 260 Farm Estates that bring production to scale. It looks like Hotel Presidential and NigerGas revamped; and several moribund assets roaring back to life. Of course, it looks like winning the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Model Green State Award as the Cleanest State in Nigeria. It looks like Enugu on the national – indeed global – map. Ndi Enugu, Your trust and support have been the bedrock of our success, and we pledge to honour that by delivering on our election promises.'" Peter Mbah was unequivocal about the challenge before his government and his Team, it was between a choice to be politically correct, or to move from the PDP to the APC with the collective good as linchpin. They chose the people, they chose performance, they chose service to Ndi'Enugu, and they chose continuity over political correctness.

Peter Mbah didn't mince words when he declared, "Today, I stand before you, to announce a break from the past, and to share a decision that will shape the road ahead. This concerns our values, how we organize ourselves politically, and how we secure the future of our projects and our people." Governor Peter Mbah was unambiguous and forthright about the challenge, and he was clear about the choice he had made with his Team, one that was lucidly captured in these words... "This move is bigger than politics – it is about alignment at scale. It is about connecting Enugu’s destiny with the central hub of broader reforms shaping our nation. Of course, this does raise some questions: Will the voice of Enugu be heard now in Abuja? How will the change affect our progress at home? How will your lives be touched by this decision? Let me be clear, I will represent our State and our Region with the same strength of purpose as I have always done. Our Igbo DNA does not change; our destiny does not change. What changes is that our vision now finds stronger reinforcement at the Federal level. The progress you see today will not slow down, and the projects we have begun will be completed. Yes, there have been challenges and delays along the way, but make no mistake – Schools, Hospitals, Roads, and our Services will be finished as promised. To the political elite across the South East, I say this: our people are watching. What they care about most are results. True leadership is about service to the people, not service to self. Principles, not personalities, must guide us. To Ndi Enugu, let me say this: this will not break our stride. We are a force of endeavour, and we need an ally who can match our ambition. Let me reassure you – this is not a detour, but a conscious step towards a more compelling future. As we begin this new chapter, I ask for your understanding, your trust, and your continued support."

It was evident in the colour, the content, the character and the conduct of the event of Tuesday the 14th of October, 2025 in the Coal City, Enugu that the movement of the PDP structures in Enugu State to the APC was a defection like no other, it was purpose driven, people oriented, issues based, politically strategic as opposed to political correctness, and proactively progressive, it is about winning at home and winning at the centre, it is about deepening the frontiers of service delivery and consolidating on existing gains, and it is about strategic alignment for the collective good. Indeed with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his Team in the saddle in Enugu State "Tomorrow Is Here".

PoliticsNigeria Police Threatens Journalists In Kano by Abel7777(op): 11:28pm On Sep 11, 2025
The Police in Kano State has publicly issued a threat against Journalists in the state.

The Spokesperson of the command, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa made the threat in a statement issued on the 10th of September 2025.

A reporter with Waraka TV, Abdulaziz Aliyu reported that he got a call from a police officer who identified himself as CSP Sabo who said was calling in respect of a stolen phone which he was somehow connected to after tracking and was needed to appear for clarification.

Getting there, he was presented with something different. It was about a post on his Facebook page which the police at Area Command Gyadi-Gyadi, Kano received a complaint against.

He was later released on bail almost 10PM to return the following morning which prompted the leadership of the association he belongs to issued a statement decrying increase harassment of Journalists in Nigeria.

PRESS STATEMENT

Press Freedom Under Siege: ASKOJ Decries Police Intimidation

The increasing cases of police invitations and detentions of journalists across the country are deeply worrying and must be condemned.

Journalism is a constitutionally recognized profession, yet some individuals intoxicated by power view it as a threat and use state resources to harass, intimidate, arrest, and, in some cases, endanger the lives of journalists.

The latest victim is Kano-based journalist Abdulaziz Aliyu, who was detained for over two hours last night at the Court Road Area Command, Gyadi-Gyadi, Kano, over a publication.

Aliyu was first contacted by an officer on the 9th of September 2025 who identified himself as CSP Sabo, claiming that a stolen phone investigation linked him to a suspect and requesting his presence at the station. Upon arrival, however, he was confronted with an entirely different matter: a complaint over his publication. “The police deceived me; it was about an article that allegedly offended some individuals,” Aliyu recounted.

The said publication was a Hausa historical program on Karama Radio, Sarkin Zazzau Malam Jafaru Ɗan Isiyaku wanda ya mulki ƙasar Zazzau daga 1937 zuwa 1959 which was also shared on Waraka Online TV where Aliyu works.

While the Association of Kano Online Journalists (ASKOJ) does not condone unprofessional conduct, we insist that journalists’ safety and press freedom must be protected.

We call on relevant authorities and stakeholders to respect the role of journalism in society and to seek redress through lawful, civil channels without violating journalists’ rights.

PoliticsUNYD Calls For Sack Of Minister Of Transportation Over Poor Sector Performance by Abel7777(op): 6:15pm On Aug 31, 2025
A coalition under the aegis of United Nigeria Youths in Diaspora has called for the immediate removal of the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, citing his alleged failure to contribute meaningfully to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Joel Amos, and co-signed by Johannah Adamu, the group expressed deep disappointment over what they described as the Minister's “underwhelming leadership” and the worsening state of the transport sector under his watch.

According to the statement, “The transportation system has become a nightmare for ordinary Nigerians, with soaring fares going unchecked and transportation conditions deteriorating. Roadworthiness of vehicles is now a growing concern, yet nothing is being done.”

The group further lamented the state of the railway system, accusing the ministry of spending huge sums of taxpayer money without tangible results. “The rail sector is in disarray. While funds continue to be spent, Nigerians have seen no corresponding improvement,” the group said.

They questioned why a key ministry continues to operate without positively impacting citizens, especially at a time when other nations are modernizing their transport infrastructure.

Highlighting the transportation challenges faced daily by Abuja residents, the group suggested that a metro rail system could help ease movement within the city. “Why hasn't the ministry considered developing metro train routes—Suleja to Berger, Mararaba to Berger, Abaji to Berger—as a solution to the hardship people face?” they asked.

The group concluded by urging President Tinubu to take urgent action by removing Minister Alkali and appointing a more visionary and development-focused leader to drive progress in the sector.

PoliticsDr. Maida’s Leadership And The Transformation Of The NCC by Abel7777(op): 8:42am On Aug 20, 2025
Pst. Abel Augustine

Under the leadership of Dr. Aminu Maida, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has witnessed a remarkable shift in operational effectiveness, regulatory oversight, and innovation-driven reforms.

Since assuming office as Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Maida has not only reaffirmed the commission’s mandate but has also injected renewed purpose and vision into the telecom sector. His leadership style, marked by transparency, collaboration, and strategic foresight, is restoring public and industry confidence in the NCC.

One of the notable achievements under Dr. Maida is the renewed focus on broadband penetration and digital inclusion. The NCC has accelerated efforts to bridge the connectivity gap between urban and rural Nigeria, ensuring that underserved communities are not left behind.

This is directly in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda, which emphasizes inclusive digital access and economic empowerment through technology.

Internally, the NCC has improved its transparency and accountability. Staff morale and institutional efficiency have been boosted through reforms that promote meritocracy and innovation.

By eliminating red tape and encouraging professionalism, Dr. Maida has positioned the NCC as a model regulatory body in the region.

Perhaps most importantly, Dr. Maida has adopted a collaborative governance model that includes stakeholders from industry, government, and civil society.

Through regular engagements, policy roundtables, and open dialogue, he ensures that the commission’s policies reflect national interest and industry growth. This participatory style mirrors Tinubu’s leadership ethos of inclusive governance.

The performance of the NCC under Dr. Aminu Maida has shown that with the right leadership, Nigerian institutions can deliver world-class results. His vision aligns seamlessly with President Tinubu’s hope agenda, particularly in areas of innovation, inclusion, and national development. If sustained, this momentum will drive Nigeria’s digital transformation and position it as a continental tech hub.

PoliticsMedia Group Commends NCC On Professionalism, Transparency by Abel7777(op): 7:38pm On Aug 06, 2025
A media advocacy group, Volunteer Media Advocacy for Accountable Leadership, has thrown its weight behind the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over the professional conduct of its recent promotion examinations, describing the process as transparent, fair, and consistent with public service standards.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the group said its review of the exercise showed that the Commission adhered to merit-based principles and ensured compliance with federal regulations, including oversight from the Federal Character Commission.

The statement signed by the Group's national coordinator, Sir Aminu Augustine, said following its review of the process, it discovered that promotions were granted strictly based on performance and availability of slots.

“Following our review of the examination, we discovered that in line with the Public Service Rules and the NCC’s manpower structure, each cadre had a limited number of slots. Not all who passed could be promoted, especially where vacancies were no longer available. This is in line with what the Public Service Rules expects,” the group noted.

It added that its investigation into the conduct of the exercise showed that interview panels were diverse, comprising management representatives from all six geopolitical zones, alongside external observers and FCC officials.

The group also praised the Commission for issuing individual score breakdowns to candidates, describing the move as a mark of transparency and accountability.

It further encouraged other government parastatals to follow the NCC’s example by ensuring transparency and fairness in their internal processes, particularly in human resource management.

“All indications point to a process that prioritized fairness, objectivity, and due process. The NCC should be commended for setting an example in public sector human resource management,” the statement said.

PoliticsWe Were All Complicit In Buhari’s Misrule — A Sobering Reflection by Abel7777(op): 5:16am On Jul 14, 2025
Written By A. O. Augustine

Before Muhammadu Buhari assumed office, Nigerians stood united in their call for change. There was a shared voice across regions, religions, and social classes, driven by the hope of a better nation. But the moment that change materialized, our unity fractured. The country became divided along religious, ethnic, and sectional lines, and the collective voice that once demanded accountability fell into silence.

Some individuals, having had their "stomach infrastructure" conveniently serviced, ensured that billions were spent to manufacture and propagate falsehoods. These narratives created an echo chamber around the President, shielding him from the harsh realities on the ground. A small circle of beneficiaries consistently fed him lies, insulating him from the truth and real sentiments of the masses.

Those who felt entitled to a share of the “national cake” but were left out became bitter, often transforming that bitterness into lifelong animosity. Even after Buhari’s passing, some continue to speak of him with hatred—proving that for them, it was never about patriotism, but personal gain.

Politicians, perhaps more than any other group, enabled the failures of the Buhari administration. They remained silent in the face of missteps, choosing loyalty to personal benefits over service to the nation. Their complicity helped perpetuate the very rot they once claimed to oppose.

I remember many who marched the streets in protest against President Goodluck Jonathan, demanding policy reversals and calling for change. Ironically, these same individuals went silent during far worse circumstances under Buhari. Instead, they preached patience, telling Nigerians that the President was fixing decades of damage and that recovery would take time.

But where was this patience when Jonathan was in office? Why didn’t we endure then, as we were later asked to under Buhari?

I often think of Buhari’s controversial remark — “Nigerian youths are lazy.” I disagreed then, and still do. But today, in a country where N210 trillion has allegedly vanished without uproar or accountability, where are those same outraged voices? Social media hasn’t exploded. No mass protests. Yet the energy is being spent speaking ill of a man who is no longer alive.

Shouldn’t this passion be redirected toward demanding accountability from those still in power? Buhari is dead. He has likely made his peace with his Creator. No amount of commentary will alter his eternal fate.

Instead of pouring venom on the departed, we should reflect on our own actions, our silence, our hypocrisy, and our failures to speak truth to power when it mattered most. Let us fear our own end and consider the legacy we each leave behind.

I extend my condolences to the Federal Government of Nigeria and to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

PoliticsKogi State LAWSAN Director Calls For Improved Welfare Of Inmates by Abel7777(op): 1:56pm On Jul 12, 2025
The Director of the Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), Kogi State chapter, Mr. Marvelous Edwin, has called on the Federal Government to urgently address the welfare conditions of inmates across correctional centres in the country.

Mr. Edwin, a law student at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, made the call during a humanitarian visit to the Dekina Correctional Facility. He led a delegation of law students from various institutions across the state as part of their commitment to social justice and community engagement.

During the visit, the students engaged with inmates, some of whom shared troubling accounts of alleged miscarriages of justice. Others revealed they remained in custody simply due to an inability to pay fines as low as N30,000.

The visit was met with deep appreciation from the inmates, who described the outreach as a beacon of hope and a reminder that they had not been forgotten.

In his remarks, Comptroller Gambo, an official of the correctional facility, welcomed the student body and emphasized the importance of equipping inmates with vocational and life skills.

He noted that many of the challenges leading to incarceration stemmed from socio-economic hardships that could be better managed with proper education and rehabilitation support.

The visit underscores the growing role of law students in advocacy, community service, and efforts to reform the justice system from the ground up.

Nairaland GeneralNatasha's Lawyer Decries Growing Lawlessness, Says “no One Obeys The Law " by Abel7777(op): 12:47pm On Jul 11, 2025
Renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Jibrin Sam Okutepa, has raised alarm over what he describes as a nationwide culture of lawlessness and disregard for justice, pointing fingers at all arms of government and the general public.

In a strongly worded statement, Okutepa lamented that the rule of law in Nigeria has been systematically eroded, with lawyers, judges, the executive, legislators, and citizens alike complicit in ignoring legal and ethical standards.

“Lawyers don’t obey the law. The judiciary doesn’t. The executive doesn’t. The legislative arm doesn’t. Nigerians don’t. In one way or another, we are each lawless,” he declared.

The senior advocate also criticized the quality of court judgments, arguing that many lack the fundamental elements of justice. He expressed concern that court rulings are often delayed in documentation, describing the judiciary’s operations as inefficient and unresponsive.

“Judgments of courts in most cases are not ready for collection days after pronouncements. Terrible society. Nothing seems to be done in the right way and we are all guilty of the iniquities,” he added.

Okutepa did not spare the political class either. He accused the judiciary of enabling political manipulation by endorsing what he termed “political rascality” in the electoral process. According to him, judicial decisions have increasingly disregarded the will of the people, undermining the essence of democracy.

“The authority of the people in the choice of leadership in Nigeria is seriously undermined by judicial stamps of authority always given to political rascality,” he said, warning that “the people’s choices matter not to those who forced themselves on us.”

Concluding his remarks, the SAN warned that Nigeria cannot progress under a system where “anything goes,” noting that lawlessness has become normalized in society.

“In a way, we have all chosen to be lawless and lawlessness has become the way of life for most Nigerians. It is terrible. No more values,” he said.

PoliticsHon. Tafida Urges FERMA To Tackle Deteriorating Federal Roads In Taraba by Abel7777(op): 6:40pm On Jul 10, 2025
Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida Urges FERMA to Tackle Deteriorating Federal Roads in Taraba

Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida, Member of the House of Representatives representing Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing Federal Constituency, has issued a strong call to the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to urgently intervene in the worsening state of federal roads across Taraba State.

During an oversight visit to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Hon. Tafida expressed concern over the poor condition of major entry routes into Taraba, describing them as “virtually impassable” and in desperate need of rehabilitation. He stressed that immediate action by FERMA is necessary to ensure connectivity, safety, and economic activity in the region.

In a significant policy recommendation, the lawmaker urged FERMA to reclassify Taraba State under the North East zone, as opposed to its current placement under the North Central zone. He argued that such realignment would align better with geographical realities, boost project monitoring, and enhance implementation efficiency within the region.

Hon. Tafida also pointed out inconsistencies in FERMA’s regional structure, noting that Jigawa State geographically located in the North West is currently listed under the North East in the agency’s organogram. He called on FERMA to review and correct such discrepancies to ensure balanced representation and fairness in project distribution.

Reinforcing the importance of legislative oversight, Tafida highlighted the role of lawmakers in ensuring public agencies deliver on their mandates. He advocated for a shift toward preventive road maintenance, which he believes is more cost-effective and sustainable than reactive repairs.

To protect federal highways from rapid deterioration, he further recommended the installation of weighbridges across the country to regulate axle loads. Citing Zambia as a successful example, he warned that without strict enforcement of vehicle weight limits, Nigeria will continue to waste public funds on recurring road repairs.

PoliticsLPPMC Mobilizes For Coalition Ahead Of 2027 Elections by Abel7777(op): 6:24pm On Jun 30, 2025
The Movement formerly known as the Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress LPPMC which stood out in the build up to the 2023 General Elections and was the energy and the electricity that drove the monstrous following of Candidate Peter Gregory Obi across the Six Geopolitical Zones in the 2023 General election has endorsed the Coalition of well meaning and public spirited Nigerians to salvage Nigeria from the rudderless and uneventful watch of the All Progressive Congress APC.

The LPPMC which is presently known as the LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE AND PATRIOTIC MEMBERS CONGRESS led by Dr. Kingsley Okundaye who functions as the National Coordinator, Arc. Folu Bademosi the Deputy National Coordinator, and Elder Yusuf Solomon Danbaki the National Secretary, for and on behalf of the teaming members of the Congress across the Country are unequivocally committed to the Coalition of credible political forces for the redemption of our Dear Country. The Congress is ready, willing, able and committed to deploy her structures across the 6 Geopolitical Zones, across the 36 States and the FCT Abuja, and across the 774 Local Government Areas of the country in support of the Coalition, and in pursuit of the ideals of responsible and responsive governance. "LPPMC shall deploy our monstrous followership and material resources in the defense of democracy, and we shall work with like-minded patriots and Progressives to ensure that democracy works for the masses of our Country" were the salient words of Dr. Kingsley Okundaye in one of the Zonal Engagements of the Congress.

In a very recent interaction with Arc. Folu Bademosi the Deputy National Coordinator of LPPMC, he was definite about the chances of the coalition to rest power from the APC come 2027, in his words, "...the LPPMC shall deploy both human and material resources in support of any ideological coalition channeled at taking power through the ballot and making leadership answerable to the People. The Congress whilst supporting the Coalition shall continue to insist that our quest for power come 2027 must be people oriented".

"The broad-based coalition that we support must be people centred and policy driven. It must be entirely different from the present order where leaders have refused to be accountable and responsible to the people. We shall mobilize our structures in support of the effort of genuine progressives to redeem and rescue the nation", were the words of the National Secretary of LPPMC Elder Yusuf Solomon Danbaki.

"The call for a Republic where leadership is people driven, where democracy works for the greater good, and where the people are alive to the challenge of making those who wield political power answerwable to them is the unalterable commitment of LPPMC across the Country, and we shall stop at nothing in advancing this cause as we work with the Coalition in defense of democracy and in pursuit of a new Dawn for our people come 2027", this according to the LPPMC National Coordinator Dr. Kingsley Okundaye is the mission of the Congress.

Our Dear nation and those who occupy leadership positions whether in government or in the opposition must embrace and internalize the progressive and the patriotic ideals that stand LPPMC out as a credible vehicle for nation building, and a beacon light of hope for a nation in dire need of redemption.

As the LPPMC and the team of genuine Progressives coalesce into a formidable redemptive force, we wish Nigeria well, and we pray for our Democracy to grow in leaps and bounds.

PoliticsRE- "The Armed Forces Are Not Neutral. They Collude With The Armed Bandits" by Abel7777(op): 11:05pm On Jun 17, 2025
RE- "The Armed Forces are not neutral. They collude with the armed bandits that kill people "

By Pst. A. O. Augustine

When General T.Y. Danjuma, a former Chief of Army Staff and Minister of Defence, broke the military code of silence, Nigerians took notice.

Standing in Jalingo, Taraba State, in March 2018, he delivered a stark warning that resonated deeply: "You must rise to protect yourselves from these people. If you depend on the Armed Forces to stop the killings, you will all die one by one."

This wasn't a politician's rhetoric or a scripted speech. It was a battle-hardened general's assessment of the nation's security crisis.

General Danjuma's words carried weight, borne from his experience and insight into the military's inner workings.

He exposed the harsh reality: "The Armed Forces are not neutral. They collude with the armed bandits that kill people. They facilitate their movement. They cover them." This damning indictment highlighted the complicity and compromise that has fueled the violence sweeping across Nigeria.

The statistics are grim. Benue is drenched in blood, Plateau has become a graveyard, and Southern Kaduna, Zamfara, and Taraba echo with the screams of the innocent. The government's response? Largely, inaction and silence.

General Danjuma's warning wasn't just a prediction; it was a forecast of the chaos that would ensue if the ethnic cleansing continued. "The ethnic cleansing must stop. Otherwise, Somalia will be a child's play," he cautioned. Today, we're witnessing the unfolding of that prophecy.

When the very institution entrusted to protect us is compromised, what recourse do we have? General Danjuma's message was clear: "The security apparatus of this country is compromised. People are being killed in dozens. And no one is arrested." The solution, he argued, lies in self-defense: "You have nowhere else to go. If you don’t defend yourselves, you will all die."

This isn't a call to anarchy or civil war. It's a call to survival, a reminder that our right to live shouldn't be contingent on a government's willingness to protect us. General Danjuma broke ranks, broke the silence, and shattered the illusions that have kept Nigeria vulnerable.

The question now is: Will we act? Or will we continue to wait for a government that has abandoned us, leaving us to die in silence? The choice is ours, and the time to decide is now.
