Oh teacher {Abrantie raises hand},  Who's the "Great Britain"? Let me guess --  Nigeria. LOL!

Delusions of Grandeur -- It's another trait which is typical amongst Nigerians:

Noun:

1. delusions of grandeur - a delusion (common in paranoia) that you are much greater and more powerful and influential than you really are.

delusion, psychotic belief - (psychology) an erroneous belief that is held in the face of evidence to the contrary.

megalomania - a psychological state characterized by delusions of grandeur.

@ abrantie

SportsSuper Eagles Suspected Of Wc Match Fixing by abelian(op): 7:47pm On Jul 09, 2010
Posted: 2010-07-09 20:17

Fifa was warned before this year's World Cup of fears Nigeria's team could be vulnerable to match-fixing, BBC Newsnight has learned.

A Uefa investigator in South Africa raised concerns, including over betting patterns.

Nigeria went out of the tournament in the first round, losing to Greece.

In a statement to Newsnight, Fifa did not deny getting a warning but say they have "no indication" of match-fixing in any World Cup matches in South Africa.

Newsnight understands a member of Uefa's Disciplinary Services Unit – which is responsible for investigating match-fixing – first became suspicious during qualifying rounds of the World Cup and it is alleged that certain Nigerian players came forward and said their team was vulnerable to manipulation.

On the morning of Nigeria's first match, he alerted Fifa's new Early Warning System, set up to look for signs of match-rigging, of his concerns.

German journalist Christian Bergmann also had a call just before the first Nigerian game of the tournament from a Uefa contact, who said there were suggestions that "some players from the Nigerian team are actually involved in some form of manipulation".

In their second game of the tournament, Nigeria were strong favourites to beat Greece and took an early 1-0 lead.

But, after just 33 minutes, Nigeria had a man sent off and Greece scored their first-ever World Cup goals to win 2-1.

After their elimination, Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan was so angry with the team's poor performances that he suspended the whole team from international competition. He later reversed that decision following a complaint from Fifa.

SportsThe Politics That Led To Super Eagle's Banning By President Goodluck by abelian(op): 4:25pm On Jul 01, 2010
Politics of Nigeria's self isolation

President Goodluck Jonathan's decision on Wednesday to withdraw Nigeria from international football for two years, and more or less dissolve the Nigeria Football Federation came straight from left field.

Few, not even the most ardent of the NFF's critics, expected it. But make no mistake, this was less about Nigeria's poor performance at the World Cup, and more about the elections into the executive committee of the NFF.

This action would seem to be the final masterstroke of the Presidential Task Force, set up by the late Umaru Musa Yaradua to help mastermind Nigeria's qualification for the World Cup.

With the country's participation in South Africa on the verge of collapse, the late President put together a team headed by Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, and including the then Sports Minister Bawa KaOje as his deputy, to help the NFF ensure that the Super Eagles made it to the World Cup.

But the friction between both parties was evident from the get go. And the fact that at least two members of that body had designs on positions in the NFF already held by sit tight officials did little to ease the situation.

While the qualification campaign lasted, both parties fought a silent, but bruising battle to stay ahead in the build up to the elections. The little matter of actually participating at the event itself, was almost an afterthought.

NFF President Sani Lulu and his executive committee were wary of the political and financial might of the PTF, and moved not so silently, not only to strengthen their vice grip on power, but also to ensure that the August elections were in the bag before a single ballot had been cast.

The plan was simple. They tweaked the Statutes by extending the life of state FA chairman (who held the majority of the votes at the Elective Assembly), until after the NFF elections.

What this meant in effect was that those gentlemen would not have to worry about their positions until after they had voted the not so new board in. It also meant that the current executive knew exactly who to 'keep happy' in the run up to the elections.

And they did a good job of it.

First, the 'grants' due to the state FAs were paid for the first time in over four years.
Then 30 of 37 chairmen and secretaries were taken on an all expenses paid trip to the World Cup in South Africa. Harmless looking actions on the face of it, but one which effectively left the favoured beholden to the NFF.

The direct consequence was that even if the eligibilty criteria had not been so considerably skewed in favour of the incumbents, noone but those in the inner circle would have a chance of winning.

Led by the new Sports Minister Isa Bio, members of the PTF appealed to FIFA, accusing the NFF leadership of corruption and asking for the elections to be suspended.

They met a brick wall in President Sepp Blatter who informed the delegation that corruption issues should be tackled by the national agencies involved, and the elections could not be stopped as long as the Statutes were followed.

And so the PTF played their final card, a direct appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan, presenting a World cup report that detailed 'maladministration'. It is that appeal which has now led to the withdrawal of Nigeria from international competitions.

FIFA's initial official response was to reaffirm their position on government interference in football matters. However, it is understood that the world football governing body would not be unwilling to negotiate a resolution to the crisis, although that would be strictly off the record.

In the event, the Nigerian government's demands are clear; that FIFA must accept the removal of the current NFF leadership, with transparent elections to be held to bring in a new team.

FIFA, on the other hand, would want to see the Nigerian government reverse their decision. Hopefully, that will be in time for the country to take part in the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier or risk a one tournament ban, in line with Art 51 of the CAF Regulations on the competition.

Four years ago, Lulu and co removed Ibrahim Galadima and his team, using government and FIFA might. That same sword appears to be what they will be impaled with.

SportsParliament Asks President Jonathan To Reverse Withdrawal Of Eagles by abelian(op): 2:59pm On Jul 01, 2010
Nigeria's Lower House have passed a resolution asking President Goodluck Jonathan to rescind his decision to withdraw Nigeria's national football teams from international football for two years.

On Thursday, Nigeria's House of Representatives voted on a motion asking the president to review his decision and rescind it in the interest of the nation.

Gbenga Elegbeleye, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, confirmed the development to KickOffNigeria.com.

"Yes, we have passed a motion asking the president to reverse his decision," Elegbeleye said. "But I cannot speak any further now because I am in a meeting."

The action comes less than 24 hours after Presidential Spokesman Ima Niboro told reporters that the government had decided to withdraw the country's national teams from international football for two years.

Jonathan's decision has drawn support from Nigeria's sporting community; although fears remain that the action may set the country's football back.

as bad as it may sound, i think the best thing to do is to switch over to the siddon-look mode, because i know one thing for sure, what goes around comes around, cuz its obvious the guys wants to eat his cake and have it, he wanted you and was having affairs with your sister, and she got pregnant, i'm sure he had no plans for the pregnancy which he might have told your sister to remove but she refused to, and maybe he decided to play along after being threatened (just guessing o), but either ways, i will suggest you look for a very lively guy who really loves you and wouldn't mind showing you off in front of people, you know, (a guy with swagger). while we all wait and see how far your sister and her husband would enjoy their fake love affair, only time will tell , if he would be a faithful husband or as expected he will look for a younger finer chick to satisfy his lustful appetite,
my sister you should enjoy life and appreciate that it happened before you married him, what if it happened after you guys were married?,
my verdict, enjoy life and get a good guy and stop saying that all men are animals, because trust me, thats not true, this thought would only limit your chances of meeting a good and sincere guy, but that does not mean you shouldn't shine your eyes o, and try and change your looks, you know be more attractive and look nice, dont be desperate though, cheeers grin grin grin

wish you all the best
as for you sister and your boyfriend, they should ki$$ my royal a$$ idiots

SportsFifa Slams Ref On Argentina Goal. Why Is Nigeria Always A Victim Of Officiating? by abelian(op): 2:33pm On Jun 16, 2010
The referee in the Argentina versus Super Eagles match on Saturday has been severely criticized by Fifa’s referee’s committee for allowing the South Americans’ goal.

The Fifa referee's committee criticised Wolfgang Stark’s decision not to give a foul for Walter Samuel’s obstruction in the build-up to the goal.

Argentina missed several gilt-edged chances on their way to a 1-0 victory on Saturday; however, according to Fifa the one attack that did finish with the net bulging should have been disallowed by referee Wolfgang Stark.

The Fifa referees’ committee released their findings on Tuesday, as a guide for future judgments in this year’s tournament. And among other rulings, they made it clear to referees that they must watch for infractions at corners and free-kicks - specifically attacking players blocking markers, as happened on Saturday.

As Juan Sebastian Veron’s cross floated over Walter, Samuel enveloped Chinedu Obasi and stopped him from moving, thereby giving Heinze all the space he needed to propel the ball home.

Stark should have therefore penalised Samuel for obstruction and awarded a free-kick to the Super Eagles - a judgment that could have changed the course of the whole game for Argentina.

@becomepoor or what do you call yourself, mr " i can write 12 laguages", i guess cobol and qbasic are part of your languages or maybe its pidgin, i'm sure its not serious languages like perl, python, Dylan, kite, ruby, Neko, Kaya undecided
I tire for frustrated Nigerians like you, the post was a simple question, why not answer the question and log off, if you are a programmer like you claim to be, i think by now you would have developed something better than what seun has presently, maybe something that is close enough to facebook, someone saw a need for a forum he got phpbb template and got it running and good-hearted individuals and arrogant fools like you registered, you now comeback to insult the person's creativity, if seun hadn't used the template, you wouldn't have a platform to show your frustrations, guy stop beefing seun abeg go do your own (such an ingrate), moreover when you criticized seun, i thought you would show us something that would blow our minds,  the screenshot you posted is crap, bad color combination, crappy interface and layout, you even copied google's colors in your layout, i doubt if its search engine optimized, i bet you are one of these morons spoiling the image of web designing as a profession  thereby encouraging people to look for developers outside the country, (empty barrel making the loudest noise) angry angry

******hisses and changes the topic******

@poster
a web developer is also a programmer, the only one that is different is a web designer( specializes in interface design/ general graphics)
i'm also a programmer, but web development is changing, you don't need to write all the source codes your self, people are working smart, you should spend your time researching on how to work smart, a lot of programmers are now using cms' and frameworks
i met an old friend recently who is a crazy guy when it comes to java/ asp.net/php programming and i asked how its going generally and he said he does less programming but more of development, concentrating more on the designing of interfaces and seo, because we now have cms(content management systems) that does the programming bit. so my advice is this, know enough programming that is necessary, not too much or too less, plus the easiest way is by learning on the job, as it makes things easier ( trust me i'm talking from experience). know enough programming to understand php/.net statements and correct errors, then know enough jquery/ajax but you must finetune your designing skills, because an average user sees the interface not the background programs running on the servers, let people like becomepoor be writing codes with crappy interfaces while others are designing great websites,  grin grin grin
i wish you all the best
Christianity EtcRe: How Noah Carried 2 Whales? by abelian: 5:49pm On Oct 04, 2009
why is everybody giving the stupid seeker (who will continue to seek for eternity) unnecessary recognition?
that is all the poor guy wants.

the stupid goat keeps on bragging about being a geologist, i guess he is a jobless graduates seeking unnecessary recognition.
the argument is about Noah and the whales, the idiot keeps on dragging us back into which book is right or wrong, which book supports the big bang theory, which book predicted that iran will soon launch a nuclear war head.

the seeker can keep on dreaming of virgins and sex, that is all the justification he needs to question GOD, and say that an holy book is incorrect. a book that was long existing even before his mohamed was even conceived.

If the quran predicted the big bang correctly, then the seeker must have evolved from a monkey( a stupid one at that) as predicted by science since science is the basis of judging which book is right or wrong.

this guy doesn't even have a point than to attack personalties by asking whose feelings he had hurt, or whose book is wrong.
i only pity your existence and your eternity.
there are virgins in hell too, i guess you can join them there. and you can save your post cards, we already have an idea of what you will go through.

jaead_03:
Please distinguished members of the forum I need urgent advise.

I applied for a UK student visa in Abuja in July to study M.Sc Information System for Financial Services in a Scottish university. Submitted all necessary papers, admission letter, certificate of acceptance, accommodation allocation letter with receipt for accommodation payment, my bank statement with close to a million naira in balance, academic transcript from the premier university, marriage certificate, letter from my husband that he fully support my further studies and will take care of the kids while away, receipt for three thousand pounds (£3000) part payment for tuition, sponsorship letter from my sponsor (an uncle), his statement of account in domiciliary with a balance of £13,000, copies of pages from his international passport, copies of papers for his landed properties in the UK. However, the ECO denied me the visa, with an explanation that he did not think my sponsor will be willing to spend all his savings on my studies. OK!

I applied the second time in August, with new supporting documents and those earlier submitted with the first application included. In this application I submitted a receipt from the school for a full payment of £10,167 (that is total fees minus the five percent early payment discount offered by the university). I submitted the swift copy for the payment and an updated bank statement from my sponsor. Suffice to say that the ECO who treated my application felt I had not showed enough evidence that my sponsor will be capable to sponsor my studies without any recourse to public funds. To further 'justify' his/her ground of refusal, the ECO stated he/she do not believe that my sponsor is my uncle as claimed.

I was advised to write a letter of reconsideration to the High Commission with a new application. I wrote a strongly worded letter (with the new application on the 11th of September), stating that what else do I need to prove that my sponsor (who is a Chairman of a well known oil company in Nigeria) has the financial capabilities after making a full payment of the tuition fees. On the issue of my relationship with him, I explained that the sponsor had earlier in the year sponsored me and my kids (2) for a visitor's visa in January 2008, which the embassy issued. (A visa which we did not overstay). If the embassy could at that time accept him as my uncle, why the sudden change of heart at this point. Apart from this, he wrote a letter with my second application explaining that I am his niece. That my mother is his sister, with same surname.

However, for the new application I submitted my sponsor's income and company tax clearance certificates for 2007 and 2008, copy of the certificate of incorporation, an updated bank statement in my sponsor's name (not company), my statement of account, a covering letter from my own bank showing a deposit of three million naira in August, from which a payment of £7,167 by Swift was made to the university. I also wrote a letter to indicate that the money was made available to me by my sponsor for studies in the UK.

After over twenty working days, the embassy sent back my passport (27th September) with another refusal, and a simple refusal note that my first degree (Political Science) is not consistent with the course I have been admitted to study and my experience in business development in the bank I worked. This is the only basis for refusing my application, nothing else. At least he/she did not state anything else. I was given a right to appeal, as in other applications.

please I need your advise on this seemingly flimsy excuse for refusal. The university stated in the application pack that the M.Sc Information Systems programme is for graduates of other disciplines, and it was on the basis of this that I decided to apply. Does it matter you have to be in an IT related job to update your skills? In a world where graduates of other disciplines are moving into the IT world to be more relevant in the ever changing job market.

please, my brothers and sisters, Akolawole, funkybabe, londoncool and all experts in the house, please advise a sister in distress. I look forward to your contributions.

thank you.
someone said this BHC people have a quota that they stick to and that for this year they cant issue more student visas.
i don't know how true this is o, but i guess the person is right considering the fact that i also know of someone who has the same problem, but the person as opted to postpone the admission pending the appeal process.
i think u should do what VOR said and try to convince them of the relevance of ur course of study by attaching the school's course page(from the brochure or their webpage print out) showing that computer knowledge is not compulsory, and lets see what their next excuse would be. huh
best of luck
is the school napier university?
