it wasn't stated anywhere in the article that the said engineers were graduates of Nigerian universities or that the engineers were Nigerian nationals, what they clearly said was "Nigerian engineers" which could mean engineers under the employment of the Nigerian Govt.
But as usual, we let our low self esteem cloud our sense of reasoning and we jump into conclusion that the "nigerian engineers" didn't do anything. We just don't believe in ourselves.

Imagine this - A guy that doesn't have a car (he is a German car enthusiast, he can afford japanese cars, but he is saving up for a German Beauty Moving on Wheels (BMW), )
This guy meets a Nigerian Girl who thinks she is a big girl all because she is driving a Toyota Corolla, DO you think he will feel inferior when he knows within himself that he can afford the car she is driving?

My point is this - A man's true worth is not what he has presently, but what he is capable of having, given the potentials, skills and ideology he possesses,

If the person who killed 91 people in Norway was a Muslim, the Press would have declared him as terrorist. For now though, he is just an 'Assailant ', 'Attacker' (Reuters), 'Gunman' (BBC, CNN ). Looks like 'Terrorist ' is a name reserved for Muslims? The US Dept of State calls it an 'Act of Violence', Not an 'Act of Terrorism' . Uhmn! HYPOCRISY is leading us astray
Its not about being a muslim or not, its about whats right or what is wrong, the most important thing is that we all should condemn such act of wickedness towards humanity in general.

PoliticsRe: Ekiti Is The 2nd Poorest State In Nigeria-commissioner by abelian: 7:39am On Jul 29, 2011
What is the basis of ranking the states? because i am yet to see any difference in the poor or the rich states which have nothing to show for it courtesy of the armed robbers in government houses all over the country.
what difference does it make if for example, state A earns $50million per month and the Governor embezzles $49.9million, and a state B that earns $20million and the governor develops the state with the money, as he is not answerable to anybody or any godfather?
the title "rich" or "poor" states are in the minds of those deceiving themselves, cause the poor man on the street doesn't feel the impact. i bet someone somewhere would be saying Oyo state and Ogun states are rich states with what they suffered in the hands of their previous governors huh

Until we stamp out corruption, voting sweet mouthed people all in the name of regions or zoning, voting for people that doesn't have a clear plan on how to transform the economies of their states, voting for people that will always depend on the revenue allocation from the federal government without thinking of the state generating their own revenues, until we get to the point of holding our public office holders accountable, that's when we can judge a state as being rich or poor. Before that time, to me all the states are the same in term of wealth (except for lagos state and rivers)

Katherine Edoho
I heard some time back someone insinuating this, but I brushed it off until I saw this interview. Frank Edoho, the host of ”Who wants to be a Millionaire” and his wife of 10yrs, Katherine, who is also a broadcaster with the NTA, are divorce bound.

This is an excerpt of the interview she had with the Encomium Magazine, props to Linda Ikeji for putting this up:

You courted each other for close to five years, did you notice any trace of swiftness to anger in him in those days?
Katherine “No. You could see snippets of temper then, but that’s where it ends. Do you think if I had seen this I would have entered? He is agenerous man but because he is generous does not mean he would beat everything he has given me?”

So, what actually caused this last beating?
“He said I wanted to run away with his kids. I told him I wanted to travel so that we could take a break a little. I told him I was traveling to Brazil because I didn’t want him to trace my whereabouts until after one week. Perhaps he would have enough time to calm down. I was expecting him to sit me down and ask “Why Brazil?” instead he started shouting, saying I want to take his kids from him. He got violently physical, he took my box from me. I travelled without anything. He trailed me to the airport to beg me and I said “Don’t come near me, you cannot be a mad man in the morning, and you are sane in the afternoon. He was coming close to me, I was moving back. He said why are you moving back? I said you are asking me? Do I know the next thing you would do here?” Then, I was bleeding, because he pushed me and I cut my leg somewhere. I was not supposed to travel with our son, because he was dragging him with me. I started crying, telling the cabin members not to leave me behind. So I was running and putting pressure on my leg and bleeding the more. When I came back, I told my younger brother “Please, the kind of beating they gave me before I travelled, I cannot take it two times. Help me to come and pack my belongings, just your presence alone…if you don’t come with me, I’ll take police to go and pack my things from the house because I need peace. For now, I cannot have it at home. When we reached home, my son said “Mummy, didnt daddy say you should not come back to the house?”

In the course of those beatings, have you ever retaliated physically?
“It’s instinctive, I grew up with boys. Somehow I’ll fight back or push, but you can’t compare a woman’s strenght to that of a man. The last beating was something else. I was busy dodging my eyes because Frank punched me as if he was fighting with his fellow man. For many days I couldn’t make use of my left eye. I wore glasses throughout my stay in Cameroun. I kept crying and shouting “my mummy o”. The headache? It was migrain times ten.”

Frank Edoho
Frank also said he doesn’t like you mingling with unmarried women, don’t you think he has a point?”
“Like what? I only have two unmarried friends. One is my brother’s fiancee, the other is Thelma, my colleague in NTA.”“Whats the reason he gives for not wanting Thelma by your side?”
“He says he doesn’t like her aura, and I tell him I don’t like your PA’s aura too. I dont evidence against his PA, but there is something about him that is not just right. I am perceptive. There is something about that guy that is not quite right.”But the bible says women should submit to their husbands. If you do away with these single women, dont you think there will be peace in your home?
“I just told you that the last time he beat me was because we were supposed to meet somewhere at a particular time. I was delayed somehow, so when I got to a place, I didn’t see him. He later called me and said “where are you” I said I was at home. He said, “Liar”. I told him I went for salsa that I had gone home. He didn’t believe me. Now, what has single girls got to do with that?. I don’t involve my friends in anything about my home. I’ve left home, I paid for a place I wouldn’t want disclosed. He sees the kids in their school.”

What do you think would serve as a solution to all these?
“He’s making a move for reconciliation (shows this reporter two different text messages from Frank) “I apologise for having slapped you, I really admit that what I did was beastly. But please come back, I’ve learnt my lesson”. My sister, it’s not coming back, it’s how do we stop that?”
Though I feel a bit disappointed…., infact I don’t know what to say
SportsNff Declares Joel Obi Wanted For U20 Worldcup by abelian(op): 5:20pm On Jul 07, 2011
The Nigeria Football Federation is having some problems reaching Inter Milan midfielder Joel Obi to be persuading him to represent the country at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Colombia later this month.

The NFF President, Aminu Maigari, told MTNFootball.com that the football body had found it difficult to get in contact with the player, who is on holiday in the United States to join the Flying Eagles who are training in Portugal.

“We have been trying to reach Obi, but he has been in the US on holidays and so far we have not been able to do so,” Maigari said.

Obi is 19 and therefore eligible for the Under-20 World Cup.

MTNFootball.com learned that one of the players in the 29-man provisional squad for the tournament had failed his medical and so Obi could well be a last-minute replacement as stipulated by FIFA.

TravelNigerian Used 128 Fake Ids To Steal £636,000 In A Series Of Scams by abelian(op): 1:27pm On Jul 05, 2011
A CONMAN used 128 fake IDs to steal £636,000 in a series of scams, a court heard yesterday.
David Peters, 30, fleeced banks, mortgage lenders and Government agencies.
Stunned cops called his identity theft the biggest they had ever discovered. He obtained 74 bogus driving licences after applying for them at a string of rural post offices.
Nigerian Peters also stole £168,575 in benefits from three London councils by claiming to be both tenant and landlord at the same address, the Old Bailey was told. Peters got a £250,000 mortgage for a house in Edgware, North London, a second mortgage on a flat in Essex worth £157,495 and took more than £60,000 from Lloyds TSB in a series of frauds.
Police said he had run his cons from 2002 until December last year.
Peters, who was also named as Oluseyi Jeremiah Adebayo on court documents, admitted 29 charges including fraud and possession of false identification documents. He will be sentenced tomorrow.
Detective Inspector Richard Fisher, of City of London Police, said after the hearing: "This is the biggest case of identity theft we have ever investigated.

SportsRef Gives Player ‘invisible’ Yellow, Realizing He Didn't Have His Yellow Card by abelian(op): 2:27pm On Mar 11, 2011
Ref Peter Walton waves ‘invisible’ yellow card

DOZY ref Peter Walton flashes an IMAGINARY yellow card - after leaving the real one in the dressing room.
The Premier League official realised his blunder when he reached into his pocket to book Birmingham City midfielder Jordon Mutch for a foul on Everton's Louis Saha.

Fans saw him check the pockets of his shorts before realising he did not have his red and yellow cards.

Walton, 51, then tried to bluff his way out of it by raising his left hand to brandish an invisible card. At least the red-faced ref had remembered his notebook - and was able to write down Mutch's name for the caution.

The incident came in the 40th minute of Wednesday's televised clash at Goodison Park.
One fan said: "It was so funny - but a bit amateurish. If I left my tools at home I'd be out of a job in no time."

Walton found his cards at half-time and booked three more players in the second half of the 1-1 draw. The ref, from Long Buckby, Northants, is one of the most experienced top officials.

SportsA Crazed Fan Tried To Stab Jose Mourinho by abelian(op): 10:14pm On Mar 04, 2011
A CRAZED fan is believed to have tried to stab Jose Mourinho as he signed autographs in an airport.
The former Chelsea boss's personal bodyguard was wounded as the madman lashed out with the sharp object.

Mourinho, 48, was rushed away by his security team at the A Coruna airport, in north west Spain, last Friday.

Spanish media said the security guard, called Eduardo, only realised had been stabbed when he boarded the team bus with the Real Madrid coach.

He thought he had been punched until he saw the blood pouring from the wound.

Real Madrid security chiefs believe the attacker meant to harm Mourinho.

The bodyguard was treated for a 4cm wound.

Mourinho was only told about the incident yesterday, Spanish media said.

Newspaper El Periodico said: "Mourinho stopped to sign autographs in arrivals, where a large number of Madrid fans were waiting for the team.

"The bodyguard was near the manager and noticed he had been stabbed in the armpit.

"The security guard realised he had a 4cm wound caused by a sharp object.

"Mourinho was very worried by the incident."

Security cameras recorded the drama and the attacker, said to be a tall man, has been identified.

SportsA Referee Set A Soccer Record - By Flashing 36 Red Cards In One Game by abelian(op): 11:15am On Mar 04, 2011
A REFEREE set a soccer record - by flashing 36 red cards in one game.

Fuming official Damian Rubino sent off all 22 players PLUS their substitutes and technical staff as a mass brawl erupted.

Last night the shaken boss of one of the teams told how he begged police to lock raging opposition players in their dressing room.
Rival Argentinian team Claypole - who beat his side Victoriano Arenas 2-0 - accused the referee of overreacting to the bust-up in Buenos Aires.

Manager Sergio Micieli said: "Most players were trying to separate people. The ref was confused."

The world record was previously held by a 1993 game in Paraguay that saw 20 players sent off.
