PoliticsNAF Takes Delivery Of STATE-OF-THE-ART Mi35m HELICOPTERS by abelian(op): 9:54pm On Sep 06, 2014
..NIGERIAN AIR FORCE BEGIN TAKING DELIVERY OF STATE-OF-THE-ART Mi35M HELICOPTERS (ABSOLUTE WORLD EXCLUSIVE PHOTO)

....In this one-of-a-kind photo which was shot on Friday 29th August, 2014 and posted originally and exclusively on BEEGEAGLE’S site, a freshly delivered Mi-35M attack helicopter can be seen being unloaded from a giant Antonov cargo plane at a location in northern Nigeria (details withheld by me for security reasons). This is the only photo of this mean machine in cyberspace as I write this…a true global exclusive.

The roundel of the NAF is visible on this side towards the tail end and of course, it is the only MiL attack helicopter of the NAF thus far pictured in desert camouflage colour scheme. Its special adaptations are visible from here.

Congratulations to the NAF….Africa’s first PROVEN (not merely claiming) user of the Mi-35M.

There were a lot of user comments on the acquisition of this beauty, but this comment stands out.

To be honest I really hope shekau and his goons have prepared to meet their virgins because the Airforce has decided to buy them a first class one way no return ticket
MI-35M features

The Mi-35M is a multi-role combat helicopter manufactured by Rostvertol, a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters. It is an export variant of Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter. Primarily designed for attack and military transport missions, the helicopter delivers superior flight performance and manoeuvrability than its predecessor.
The production of Mi-35M started in 2005. The aircraft integrates modern high-precision weaponry for destroying ground-based armoured targets and providing air support for ground missions. It can be modified as an attack, ground assault, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) or transport platform.

The Mi-35M is one of the modern combat helicopters in the Russian Air Force inventory. It is also operated by the armed forces of Venezuela, Brazil and Azerbaijan.

Based on the Mi-24 Hind, the Mi-35M incorporates several improvements including shortened stub wings, a new rotor system, modern avionics, upgraded turboshaft engines and a hydraulic system. The cockpit and vital components of the helicopter are significantly armoured.
The Mi-35M has an overall length of 21.6m, wingspan of 6.5m and height of 6.5m. Its takeoff weight in ferry configuration is 12,000kg. It can carry eight troops or a payload of 2,400kg.
Cockpit and avionics of the Mi-35M

The glass cockpit of the Mi-35M accommodates two pilots in tandem configuration. The night vision goggle (NVG)-compatible cockpit integrates multi-functional displays (MFDs), redundant flight controls and state-of-the-art avionics.
The helicopter is equipped with OPS-24N surveillance-and-sighting station, television channel, GPS-guided navigation system and optional non-Russian radio station.
Hind E armament

The chin-mounted turret can be installed with the twin-barrel GSh-23V 23mm cannon with 450 to 470 rounds of ammunition. The gun can fire 3,400 to 3,600 rounds per minute. The stub wings can carry a range of weapon systems including anti-tank missiles, rocket pods/gun pods, or fuel tanks.

The helicopter can be armed with up to eight 9?114 or 9M120 Ataka-V SACLOS radio guided anti-tank missiles, up to 80 'S-8' 80mm unguided rockets and 20 'S-13' type 122mm unguided aircraft rockets.
Mi-35M countermeasures

The countermeasures suite of Mi-35M includes a radar warning receiver, a laser range finder and a location finder, chaff and flare launch system, infrared (IR) jamming system and engine-exhaust IR suppressor.
Mi-35M engines and performance

The Mi-35M helicopter is powered by two ?V?-117V?? or VK-2500 engines. Each engine develops a maximum power output of 2,200hp. The engines are designed to support high altitude missions.

The helicopter can fly at a maximum speed of 310km/h. Its operational altitude is 5,400m. The helicopter has a normal range of 460km and can reach a maximum distance of 1,000km with full fuel load.

It can be deployed in combat missions across the world in various geographies with high-temperature and high-altitude environments. It features round-the-clock combat capabilities for conducting missions during day and night. It is also capable of operating from unprepared and poorly equipped airfields.

WHEN, WHERE, HOW AND WHY. #OccupyNigeria
Posted on January 3, 2012
by Azeenarh Mohammed (@xeenarh)
(Closeted optimist, provocative writer)

The people are restless and the demands for a demonstration are loud. I am very happy to hear those calls, but once again I must call for caution. The events that took place at #EagleSquare in Abuja and other parts of the country yesterday the 2nd January 2011 only serves to buttress my point: we simply aren’t ready…YET.
What started out as a call by Dino Meleye to take down the names and details of volunteers eventually ended badly. Citizens were tear-gassed, bullied, chased, beaten & some where arrested. As I write this, some of them are still in custody. Although I am unhappy with these events, Japheth Omojuwa has pointed the glass as half full for me because the turn out was massive despite just having only 1 or 2 hours to mobilise.
But as much as we want to rush out and demonstrate, we have to do it with reason. Why not use the few days we have left to organise and prepare ourselves? Let me tell you why.

RULES GUIDING THESE PROTESTS:
A written notice shall be delivered to the police, SSS, road safety and other relevant agencies stating the intention for a peaceful protest in accordance to Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with particular reference to Sections 33, 34, 35, 38, 39, 40 and 41 of the CFRN which will contain the date, time, where the protest will take place (from which streets it starts and to which it will convene) and the estimated number of people expected.
We shall not stoop to the level of fighting the security forces physically, with arms, or engage them in verbal arguments. They are first of all Nigerians and we have to remember that.
Protesters will not obstruct traffic, or antagonise people going about their normal business.
With crowds, absolute control can not be achieved but we must try our best. Violence is NOT an option. I repeat, violence is not an option. Let’s not give this people a reason to turn on us. A single life is too costly-and we’ve lost too many already. We can do it peacefully and we will. We are going to rely on the educated ones among us to broker & maintain peace in case a disagreement ensures.
We will ensure that every excuse used in the past to intimidate and harass citizens are minimised and if possible, completely extinguished. Hopefully, the police, army, civil defence and co will join us shortly.
Now remember, Mr President has said he is willing to risk civil disobedience by removing subsidy. This tells us that they are ready for us. We not only have to match their resolve, we have to beat them at it.

WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ACHIEVE? The demand is short and simple: Return fuel subsidy until our refineries are either fixed or new ones built! My mentor Salim Malami asked me to google ‘How To Build A Refinery?’ Apparently, a refinery takes between 24-36months to build from concept to completion. This is a fact. Jamnagar Refinery located in India is the biggest refinery in the world and it took 36months to build. The question we should be asking is why isn’t our government trying to refine its crude oil? We also want the cabal found and prosecuted, the billions retrieved, and we demand transparency instead of secrecy in the oil industry.

HOW DO WE INTEND TO RETURN SUBSIDY? The ONLY logical way for us to achieve our aim of returning subsidy (apart from certain war) is IF and WHEN the entire government is ground down to a halt. Anything short of this will get us nowhere. Realistically, this can only be done with the help of organised labour. No one will be allowed to go to work: and when everyone from janitors, secretaries, accountants, human resources, gate men, personnel, to support staff, all continue to shun work at ministries, parastatals, airports etc, the government will have no option but to dialogue with us and our demand WILL remain simple from the beginning to the end: return subsidy and we return to work. I know the cynicism people feel towards organised labour and their tendency to sell out. Believe me, I feel it to. My singular consolation is that WE make labour so we will have to sit up and NOT sell out.
Now is the time when we need everyone to be on board; from organised labour, religious groups, professional institutions, unions NUJ, NURTW, ASUU, SUG, NBA, Civil societies, clubs, NGO’s, self employed individuals, to your gateman, your househelp, the owner of the store at the corner of your house, the mai-ruwa, the mai-shayi, the brick layer, the saloon owner, the groundnut hawker, the teachers, the nurses, the cab drivers & okada riders to ALL come together and stand as ONE. We must have EVERYONE involved.

WHEN WILL WE START PROTESTING? From the looks of it, FRIDAY 6th JANUARY 2012 will be the date. When it starts, no one expects government to cower immediately. Citizens are expected to use Wednesday & Thursday (4th & 5th January 2012) to make long term plans that will ensure their comfort and that of their families for about 2 weeks to a month.

I expect everyone to share this message via email, print, bbm, twitter, facebook and beyond. We need you all to recruit and engage one another. This protests can not be isolated. We will shock government with our coordination.

WHAT MESSAGE ARE WE PASSING ALONG: we are ONE, we are organised, we do NOT believe in violence, and we will persevere until fuel subsidy is returned.

WHY ARE WE DOING IT THIS WAY? Because having little 150-200 disorganised rallies will not help anyone. If every group organised their rallies & demonstrations, they would be ineffective, uncoordinated, and the security operatives will end up bullying, intimidating & arresting protesters. The rest will be lucky to flee for their safety, returning home dejected & discouraged having lost energy, time and effort. Labour is ready, willing and able to shut down the entire country. We will join them to ensure that they not only do it, but they do it right. Once again, I need to remind us all: this is not the time for ego’s, popularity, fame or fortune. Our strength lies in our unity and our planning. There will be no winners if we refuse to work together. This is not the time to be alone, or prove that you can do it on your own. ONLY IF WE ARE TOGETHER ARE WE UNBREAKABLE!

WHERE WILL WE DEMONSTRATE & PROTEST? In all 36 states of the federation + FCT. The most delicate ones are the four with state of emergencies (Plateau, Yobe, Niger & Borno) but we are doing our best to keep them involved.
(Tentatively) Protests are expected to kick off simultaneously at 10am in all states (most venue’s are yet to be finalised) and we will continue our peaceful demonstrations all over the country until the subsidy is removed.
You all asked for a chance to prove your worth, a chance to contribute your quota to your Nigeria. Well this is it…so please don’t blow it. Read, share, retweet, email, print/circulate, and orally recruit more people. If each of us recruited 10 neighbours & family members, and each of those 10 people recruited 10 more persons, we will well be on our way to taking back this country from our oppressors. No number is too much and none is too little. Emails can still be sent to xeenarh@gmail.com with phone numbers & location to help with easier co-ordination and to aid in faster sharing of information. “IF WE CHOOSE TO FIGHT WE MAY WIN. IF WE DON’T WE HAVE ALREADY LOST.” (Unknown)

PoliticsRe: Is Jonathan Heading The Ironsi Route? by abelian: 3:01pm On Jan 03, 2012
if people get shot at by the police, the peaceful protest might turn to a full state of anarchy. Remember students irrespective of their affiliations or tribe spearheaded the June12 struggle, now imagine this scenario where one of the students get shot at or killed, it is an act of war on the fellow students. That is just a tip of the ice-berg compared to what awaits any one that tries the use of force to silence the oppositions, A word of warning, whoever thinks Nigerians are cowards should have a serious rethink, because the status quo has changed.

One salient point that everyone is missing here is the fact that google can not offer enterprise solutions in terms of designs and functionalities on these websites hosted by google.
What you get is a basic site on a free domain. To me, i see this as opening up more opportunities for professionals in the area of web designing.

For example a school gets free hosting and a basic website layout from google, but its closest competitor another school in the neighbourhood, has a paid hosting with professionally designed layout and functions that enables parents to check their wards' results, term dates, an automated email telling the parent the date of the next Open day (PTA). I foresee the school on google wanting to improve on their website as soon as possible to be able compete with the other school. It is a win-win situation for web developers because google is creating the market for us, by giving them the taste of what its like to be on the web and this will keep them yearning for more in the nearest future.

I would even advocate for people to use this package, knowing fully well that this same people will come back to me for improvements very soon.

edicolove:
Dont exhibit your ignorance. Prices don't go up in a deregulated market. They go down because of competition. The telecoms market is a good bad example. Deregulation produces competition which produces a price war and prices go down, not up. Fuel may never sell for more than N80 in a deregulated market. Maybe a little bit higher when it starts but it will then come down as investors build new refineries and the competition increases. There is nothing like cabal in a deregulated market. Why has the cabal not conspired to increase telecom prices if it is that simple?
Seems you have forgotten we are talking about Nigeria here, a country where after 10 years of the telecoms operators' existence, we still have poor infrastructures and low call quality, at the last time i checked, the cost of making calls in Nigeria is still above 10 naira per minute. Which investor will invest in refineries? The same way investors will invest in Power plants, I think they should also invest in the Presidency. SMH at the level of ignorance. I think i should remind you that dollar will soon be trading at N200 to $1.

continue deceiving yourself about the market forces that are non-existence in Nigeria.

I think the way forward is to invest in the refineries first, then set a maximum price for petroleum products, then you can talk about deregulation/ removing the subsidies

I am amazed at the ignorance displayed on the internet every time and mainly by my dear Nigerians! Why are you guys so quick to write off this claim? Consider these facts
1. The university is the ONLY university in Nigeria that has wireless internet EVERYWHERE on campus.
2. Aside from school work, the students use the internet for various sorts of entertainment such as Facebook, Twitter and the rest.
3. Not only does every student and teacher have a laptop, they have phones and gadgets that allow them to surf whenever, wherever.
4. Exams in the school are sometimes conducted online.
5. Students check their grades and coursework progress using an online website called Banner, created and maintained by some of the students themselves!
6. Ever heard of "Turn It In"? It's a program the lecturers use to check students' essays to ensure they do not plagiarize (cheat).
7. Some classes require you to turn in your papers in both hard copy and soft copy (lecturer's email)
8. The internet in this school is 24/7.
9. Yola is a rather boring town and it is easy for students to spend all their recreational time ONLINE!!! I did it in my time.
10. The school's email facility is Google-based and Google has actually visited to discuss a partnership with the university!

Now, do you guys still think this claim is far-fetched? And I am a graduate of the university so I know what I'm talking about!

Have a blessed day.
