TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by abestine(m): 3:45pm On Mar 24, 2017

For the home ties, you can resolve by getting landed property, like plots of land in your name, documents like, receipt, deed of assignment, survey plan, C of O to submit alongside ur documents

If you are married, you can submit, ur marriage certificate and bitrth certificate of ur children if you have.

If you work u can use it as hone ties stating u are travelling on study leave to return to ur jib upon completion.

Just my suggestions, gurus can give u better solutions
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by abestine(m): 12:26pm On Mar 24, 2017
those that have submitted should also specify if they did upfront medicals, passed medicals, in this format
Username, date of submission, degree going for, University, method of application (paper/online), medical (upfront/not), status (awaiting medical/medical passed/approved)

my suggestion so as to have a smooth documentation, more testimony this year in Jesus name

Good. B.Sc Industrial maths and M.Sc Statistics right?. Which graduate school did you apply to?
MSc. In community health sciences, biostatistics option, University of Manitoba

I think this is a person with mathematics degree or related course. If you like maths and biology and want to make a difference in the world, I think Biostatistics is a rewarding career, with a lot of opportunity—and the compensation is good, too.

Mathematics graduates you have a lot of opportunities. If you don't know, please make Google your best pal. Start by typing this into Google 'what can I do with a mathematics degree'
Yeah, I did industrial mathematics and then statistics and I am going for Biostatistics again

I NEED ADVISE O ABEG
Hi everyone,

I need urgent advise on what to do. I am currently a graduate student in Canada. Recently I came to Nigeria to marry my fiance of 4years. Prior to my arrival we had plans of bringing him over to Canada through the SOWP. I have told him about the whole process, getting some cash for fixed deposit and all. This was in a bid to save time because I am being mindful of the time left on my TRV. Unfortunately after our wedding, he could not raise his own part of the proof of finance on time. I know quite well that it is not a requirement but then we needed to cross our i's and t's. Right now, we have all the required document. However, I am 5 months away from graduation(April) and 9 months away from expiration of my TRV(August). I am not sure if we should still go ahead with this application, or let him apply for visit instead. I am utterly confused and I really need advise. cc oga siga , onyeoma8, oga akanni oga justwise, oga chrigo everybody help o!
Well in my own opinion I will say you pause it for now. Upon graduation you're entitled to work for some numbers of years depending on your program. I will say you get job first, extending your stay in Canada, after which can then make plans for your hubby to join you.

My reason for saying so is this, the VO may not see any reason to approve Ur hubby visa knowing that Ur program will soon end, because d SOWP (spousal open work permit) is for married students whose spouse aren't with them, just to support them emotional, psychologically and otherwise to ensure they finish their program. Since you're almost finished, they may not see reasons to approve your hubby visa.

Just my opinion, anyway.

Mathematics and Biostatistics are inconsistent in my opinion and knowledge. The VO was right.

Biostatistics is a specialization in Public Health/ Community health, Epidemiology.. It deals with rates, health statistics, health related data...
Mathematics is totally different. It's a department of its own.

In simple terms, Biostatistics is a health course while mathematics is an abstract science.
You can even see the are not in the same Faculty.
I did some level of Biostatistics during my Baccalaureate program, I know what I'm talking about and I'm in the health/medical profession.

Does University of Calgary offer Biostatistics as a collaborative program of Mathematics and statistics ?? Or you're making your own assertions and assumptions undecided
Most of this VOs don't know what some courses entails, you can lecture them, tell them what you course entails and how they are related mathematics is related to biostatistics. Mathematics is broad, we have pure mathematics, which talks about the abstract maths, we have applied mathematics, which talks about numerical analysis, statistics.
You've been able to link statistics with mathematics, now statistics in itself is broad, we have financial statistics, where we have econometrics, time series etc, and we have biostatistics which deals with the application of statistical theories to study life. Now you've linked mathematics to biostatistics.
Just my opinion, statistician in the house can help the more.

The normal procedure is to wait to be called for medicals, people do upfront medicals for so many reasons, like in my case, my admission letter came in March, if I am to wait for medical call it may be late so I decided to go for upfront. Others do it for convenience sake, they can't afford travelling long distance to go for medical when called so they do everything ones and for all. Which ever route you follow pray it favours you

Bro, kindly share reason for refusal then. It's somewhat unfair though.... why make applicants spend money to do medicals when you know you wont approve their visas. Medical should be the final phase for issuance.
Exactly my point, and people should please endeavour to read someone's post to the point of understanding before saying he is wrong. We are all here for the same purpose, to get our visa application approved, the Lord will grant all our heart desire
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by abestine(m): 3:04pm On Oct 31, 2016
Leakingbasket:
Bro, this your information is wrong. Before sometime last year, if CIC tell you to go do medical, it means you have gotten approved. But sometime last year, they started the new trend of medical and refusal. And I am a witness to it. After I got my GCMS file, I found out that at the stage of Medical, which I passed, after a short while (days or so) a final decision was made. So bro, dont think after medical all is well. All you should hope for is the final favorable decision, then the application is finally closed.
If I am wrong, someone should please dispute this.
Please read the first statement ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE, I didn't say it's not possible. The fact that I was denied after doing upfront doesn't mean someone else will be denied after doing upfront and dat u were denied after been called to go for medical doesn't mean someone else will be denied after been called, different strokes for different folks.

Read what Oluwamalik wrote. He said he was denied after being invited for medicals. That was my curiosity
I didn't say you're wrong, it happens, just saying not in all cases. And if you read what I wrote to the end you will see what I wrote, it's what I experienced, it may vary from individual to individual.
I be applicant like everyone here, seeking advice on how to ensure my next application isn't denied
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by abestine(m): 1:35pm On Oct 31, 2016
judlice84:
Please, what was the reason for your refusal after medicals? For your questions, it takes 14-16 weeks. However it may take shorter or longer than that.
It is almost impossible to be denied after being called for medicals. Those who were denied after medicals are mostly people who did medicals upfront. Application assessment is in stages. The VO verify your documents to see if everything check out, of it does, they contact you approximately after a month of submission to go for medicals. If the result came out as PASSED, this probably takes about another month, they don't have any choice than to send you a letter of congratulations, telling you to go and pick up with international passport with VIsa stamped on it.

I am talking from experience, I did upfront in my last application, I passed medicals and was denied, if I hadn't done upfront, probably I would have been denied without having to waste money on medicals.
Just what I think though, gurus here can shed more light on that.

Please i need your comments. My admission was deferred till fall 2017 because my application was refused. Is it advisable to send another application in November for a program that is scheduled for August 2017, My friend in Canada has advised that i wait till next year becos sending an early application might probably work against me and attract a reason for refusal. Whats your opinion pls....
I have the same issue as well, deferred admission till Fall 2017, I intend to reply early next year, reapply now may lead to denial with purpose of visit as their excuse.

I ask for your prayers this time.

Thank you.

I am not desperate bro, I don't want to further research around my project in school. a different project was imposed on me different from what I wanted. I am interested in research in thermo-fluid engineering, particularly CFD or in heat transfer. Like I said earlier, I don't know where to start, but I believe I will be in Canada by Sept next year by God's grace and with thehelp of the good people on this forum
Create a proposal around your research interest, attach it to a mail with Ur transcript with a brief introduction on yourself, Ur Research interest how it relates to the person you're mailing area of research. Be concise, no too long story. Send it to as many professors in Ur area of interest you find . You can find professors in area of Ur research through Google, start from there, application for September intakes for international students ends in December latest January.

The gurus can say more on what I didn't remember. Hope that helps

Hello guys,

Help a helpless guy here. I am a greenie, I intend to start applying for a masters or PhD as the case may be (I heard it is possible in Canada to skip MSc.). I graduated in 2014 from FUTO, mechanical Engineering. I will prefer MSc. by research with a scholarship (I no get money). I need to get a supervisor and all that. My CGPA was 4.47. I need help guys, I don't know where to start from, good schools, how to get supervisors, how to apply, how to prepare research proposals, scholarships, visa applications, etc. I want to be in Canada by Sept 2017, I don't want to continue in my place of work anymore, I miss the classroom already. I am ready to do all it takes (so far it is legal). Please guys I need counsel. You can hit me up on marinusokoronkwo@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance.
You sound desperate! You have a good CGPA though, presently most university admission application is on-going. What was you first degree project all about? You can form a research proposal around it, search for recent work in that area, develop it, send it, your transcript, and a brief introduction of Ur self, with Ur area of research to as many professors in Ur field and pray u get a response.

Some schools don't require you having a supervisor before giving you admission while some requires it, but it is advantageous if you can secure one before submitting your application, he can tell you some internal scholarship to apply for and the rest.

The gurus here will help you the more

I like Ur claim MOST schools, but not all, my school (FUTA) give student copy, which is unofficial, you apply for it they way you apply for official, and that's what I used for my admission application before the Faculty of Graduate Studies requested for official which was sent directly from the school under official seal to the address I submitted.

I think schools should be able to give student unofficial copy for personal runs

Most agents are not knowledgeable about what they claim to do, in fact some render applicant inadmissible based on false information provided which one may not be able to alter in reapplication. You should be able to correct the year of employment. The gurus here will advice you on how to go aboutit

Hello My great people
I want to know please, Hope to defer admission is not too stressful like getting it at first for anyone intending to attend UofS.

Thanks
I think the process is the same irrespective of the school. Write to your departmental PG coordinator, stating reasons for wanting to defer . They will discuss your case at their departmental meeting which they hold ones a month and then forward your request to Faculty of graduate school where another letter will be given to you.

Yes, under sponsor in my CIC form I put OTHERS, then write SCHOLARSHIP + PERSONAL. Because the scholarship is going to be paid as a monthly stipend, with personal o can account for my air ticket and other miscellaneous to to be incurred before the scholarship starts coming

Just chill my learned Brother. I understand where they are coming from. Please I ask you request for a confirmation of funding letter from your school graduate office and copy your supervisor in the request mail.
This time of reapplication add your personal assets and you can attach your parents assets as many as you can with valuation report. Still maintain your account balance. Finally you put down a letter of clarification addressing how you have tackled the VO concerns. You will be fine Bro.
Thanks, that's what I am planning to do, write a letter of explanation, taking each issue raised by the VO at a time to clarify their doubts and add some asset documents and some other evidence of employment I didn't include in my previous application, and pray.
Thanks

Bsc Mathematics (2014)
NYSC (2015)
Diploma in Software engineering (2012)
I'm currently teaching Mathematics at a secondary school(2015 till date)
Got admitted for a PGC in computer application development at Conestoga college
SOP stating I developed an interest in software engineering right from University, hence the need to go for a PGC in a related course

Submitted docs relating to all the above
Sorry for the delay, just want to chip in one or two things that I think you should have included in your SOP. Mathematics and computer are related, in ur undergraduate course u must have done some computer courses (programming language) especially for solving numerical problems. And the course u applied for is computer applications development, which I believe make use of programming language, you probably should have link that up in ur SOP that you intend to to develop an algorithm that will solve some complex equations smiley, to let d VO see that computer and mathematics can't be separated.

Just an advice though

GMAT is not an English language proficiency test.

It's a graduate entrance exam.
TOEFL, GMAT etc are all test taken outside the school of your choice with one aim, to secure admission, so I know what GMAT isis grin. Most of the department don't actually make it compulsory, though it may be among the requirement.

Like when I applied, the supervisor I contacted, asked me if I have TOEFL, I told him I don't have, but I can get it done if it is compulsory and I forwarded my CV to him. He didn't later ask for it, and I was admitted.

Check the university some don't request for it at all while some can waive it for you...
