Hello all more opinions are welcomed, thanks! Abigbo: Good day all, please I would love some advice. I recently got admission into a college on Alberta to do a 2yr program in occupational therapy and physiotherapy assistance and also another admission in newfoundland for 1 year certificate program in Early childhood education. I'm confused now concerning all the recent changes and the fact that SOWP is on hold now so my hubby can't come along now no kids yet Please I need advice from those in Canada already, what should be the best path to follow among these two programs that can lead to PR. Thanks! |

Tried the masters route, not easy getting a supervisor, especially in the science field. Also tried express entry,my profile expired without any invitation last December. Trying the study route now, thats why i need an update on the two programs i was admitted in so i can make a good choice. Thanks! Maydaygirl: Options: 1. Go for a Masters Degree so the your husband would qualify for SOWP. 2. Express Entry |

Please get a confirmed September admission mfonox: Good day house,
I applied since Oct 13th no response from IRCC. I had to defer my admission to May. Even though May is currently full for my program, the school suggested to put me on a waitlist to see those that will drop/defer for May so they can find a space for me
Do I need to inform IRCC this on the web form I intend to raise? If I don’t. When they are treating my application say after my resumption date which was supposed to be 8th January. Is this grounds for denial or is it possible for them to approve my application even after my start date has passed or too close to my start date?
Please advice.
2. The school also gave me an option to get a confirmed September admission or the waitlist and I chose the waitlist option. Do u think I should opt for the September instead? If I choose the September. Will this study permit(if approved) serve me for September? Or I’ll have to do a fresh application. |

E-visa outcome received after 2 weeks. Points to note, when applying for the visa try to ensure that the bank address matches the address you fill in the form. Secondly, try to ensure you upload clear pages of your statement this was what delayed my application. |

Hello @bullstriker, please what do you mean by showing just the minimum amount, thanks bullstriker: It depends on the type of sponsorship and ability to demonstrate reliable sources of income. For example, you must show funds for the tuition fees and living expenses for the duration (2 yrs) of your program if you have no sponsor, OR show funds for one year and a reliable source that can generate funds in your absence for the subsequent year. On the other hand, if you are using a sponsor, you can show just the cost of education for one year, regardless of the duration of your studies. It is noteworthy that showing just the minimum is not recommended as it is unconvincing for the sponsor to spend all the funds on your education.
I believe it's best to calculate the cost of a flight to Canada and local transportation in your intended city and be realistic. Although IRCC uses 10K for living expenses, I recommend adding a couple of thousand to the living expenses, especially if you are going to cities with high living costs like Toronto, Vancouver, etc. That way, you can present your research in your SoP.
To answer your question, Funds for 1 year = Tuition fee/year + living expense (10K)/yr + cost of flight and transportation in Canada |

I think you should get a new bank statement just to be on the safe side. dynamicd28: I got my stamped and signed embassy statements from Access bank on 4/09/2023. Do you think these will still be okay, considering that its almost a month ago? This is for the visitor's visa application through DHA. Let me know your thoughts on this please. |

That's mainly for identification. When applying for your permit u can use the new passport. Shegs105: What if I am given an offer, would the old passport submitted to the school not contradict the new passport when out? would that raise an eyebrow during a visa application? additionally, I am almost at the surrounding of applying for programs at Humber College, but most of their courses that fall under my preferred course of interest, Communication are open for January 2024, but they had none for May 2024. Can I still apply for that as the school says they may process admission within 4-5 weeks? Can I really meet up?? |

Yes Shegs105: I HAVE SUBMITTED MY OLD PASSPORT FOR RENEWAL WHICH THE IMMIGRATION GUY SAID WOULD BE READY IN 3MONTHS, HOWEVER, IT WOULD EXPIRE IN 2025, CAN I STILL USE THE OLD PASSPORT FOR SCHOOL APPLICATION? |
