Romance / Re: What's The Big Deal About Kissing? by Abike2k6(f): 4:44pm On May 07, 2007
Kissing is a big deal to me. I love the way it makes me feel when I'm kissing someone I either love very deeply or am sexually attracted to. I get butterflies, it makes me happy or it puts me in the mood. It's a great way to connect with your lover but only if it's done right. If it's not right for me then I get put-off and can't bear it.
Romance / Love Or Lust At First Sight by Abike2k6(f): 4:41pm On May 07, 2007
Ok people, which do you believe in? I choose lust, or just simply affection because I think love is a thing that develops, it's not instant.

Food / Re: Most Embarrasing Meal You Have Ever Served? by Abike2k6(f): 3:50pm On Aug 25, 2006
I think mine was when our friend popped over for an impromptu dinner the other day and I made an impromptu jollof rice. Problem was I failed to recognise that my partner and I are unmatched in our ability to eat pepper. So, this poor man really suffered through the meal, sweating, scratching his head, tongue hanging out, shifting in his seat, running to the toilet to get tissue to blow his runny nose, he didn't want to seem rude so he finished every last grain of rice. Only God knows how he did it.

Apart fom that, serving under-cooked rice is always embarrassing.

This is too funny! Especially no.9. My neighbour once received a call from an aunty asking her to come and pick her up from the airport. She didn't even know the woman was coming to London!
And I've seen no.6 happen each and every time I'm at the airport. It's pure comedy watching them trying to lighten their bags, or failing that, begging the officials not to charge them extra.
No.2 goes for every Nigerian I know.
As for no 4, I remember our garage back home being packed to the brim with all-sorts. To this day, my mother still has a broken, non-functional lamp from like the 1800's on her dressing table. Don't ask me why.

Nairaland / General / Re: Share Your Most Embarassing Moments by Abike2k6(f): 10:47pm On Aug 16, 2006
Hmm. I remember mine like it was yesterday. It was a few weeks ago, my partner and I were getting down to business, thoroughly enjoying ourselves and letting our vocals run free. 45 mins later (no laughin pls), we realised that not only was the landline on the bed, but one of us had mistakenly dialled one of our old friend's numbers - someone we no longer speak to. This pervert had stayed on the line throughout the whole thing. We were in hysterics laughing about it afterwards but I have to admit I was really embarrassed.

Health / Re: How To Get Rid Of Bad Breath by Abike2k6(f): 10:22pm On Aug 16, 2006
Ebonyjoy hit the nail on the head. As a Dental Hygienist, what she said is exactly what I would recommend.

If you have access to a Hygienist, have a regular (6 monthly) scale (clean) and professional polish of your teeth. When you brush, don't just scrub across, aim the brush slightly upwards towards your gumline. Make sure the bristles of the brush go just slightly under the gumline and wiggle the brush back and forth. Spend about 10 secs on every two teeth and brush twice a day. Nights are extremely mportant because our mouths are drier at night - we lose the buffering effect of saliva therefore more chance of tooth decay & plaque build-up.

Visit http://www.bdha.org.uk/public/index-public.htm,   http://www.bdha.org.uk/public/index-public.htm,   http://www.ada.org/public/topics/bad_breath_faq.asp.

Listerine has a very high alcohol content (links to cancer etc) and is not something I ever recommend. How many of you have tried to hold in your mouths for the recommended 1 min? Didn't you feel like your mouth was on fire? Any Fluoride mouthwash with low or no alcohol should be fine. Also use a Fluoride toothpaste.

P.s just for fun people, if you're truly truly bored, try the lick test - lick the inner side of your wrist, allow it to dry and smell it - this is apparently a good guage of how bad your breath is undecided

Could be a hormonal imbalance but only your doctor would be able to tell you for sure.

Thanks for that info. So many things are considered carcinogenic these days. For example Maggi - so much MSG

What a horrible situation. I really sympathise with you. I hope this teaches people to USE PROTECTION. It can't be said enough.
Health / Re: Gaining Weight by Abike2k6(f): 9:20pm On Aug 16, 2006
I'm with Honey on this one. I'm already a size 12 but would like to be bigger - I just think women look better that way, you know, with a bit of meat on their bones. I'll be happy when I get to size 14/16.

Eat healthy honey, don't take supplements that haven't been prescribed by your doctor. Eat bigger portions of healthy food. They say malt is fattening, also Soya, full fat milk, cheese (not too much due to high salt content).

Just one minute? Girl you would need at least an hour. Plus another 3 days to recover wink
Politics / Re: How Does The World See Africa by Abike2k6(f): 9:06pm On Aug 16, 2006
Well said tochi & others.

The fact that Transparency has found Nigeria to be the most corrupt country in the world doesn't help Africa's image one bit.
The fact that the most anyone ever sees of Africa on tv or in films is the poorest of the poor, dirty, starving, violent doesn't help.
The fact that Nigeria would rather praise and admire the rich and opulent (ovation mag) than concentrate on core issues such as corruption, homelessness, poverty doesn't help.
The fact that Nigerians continue to give the rest of us a bad name overseas doesn't help.
The fact that those in power are screwing their own country of money that could be better spent in countless ways, but prefer instead to send their wives on extravagant shopping trips abroad, buy flashy cars etc doesn't help.

Controversial as this may sound, Africa could possibly benefit from having a neutral outsider put it in order.

In some ways Africa only has itself to blame. It is so bad that many Africans in Africa trust a foreigner over their fellow citizen.

I could go on. I'm a Nigerian and proud of it. I always give my Nigerian name and say that I am Nigerian when asked my Nationality, although I have British citizenship and was actually born here and brought up here for a large part of my life so far.
Romance / Re: Should Our Boyfriends Assist Us Financially Without Us Having To Ask? by Abike2k6(f): 8:39pm On Aug 16, 2006
I believe a woman should be able to fend for herself and be financially independent. Not for any feminist reason, I just feel you should be able to stand on your own two feet before and after a man has been in your life. There are many women out there who've relied on hubby and got used to having handouts, only to be left struggling once the relationship ended.

I'm not into that whole 'spending money' thing. I've never understood it. Unless of course you're dead broke and genuinely need help.

Let me flip the question - what do you think about a woman being financially supportive of her man?
