How many state can boast of IGR like Lagos state? Be sincere. TooNoisy: Lagos State is way ahead of all the other States.
If only the other Governors can follow the lead of Lagos, Nigeria will be better!! But most of the other Governors just want to collect Federal Allocation and spend as they wish. |

Can you just hear yourself. If it were to be your family, would you have said the same thing? Fear God. davodyguy: This is preventable. Before we blame let's critically examine this story.
1. They were out at Midnight, possibly returning from party or club, to celebrate in anticipation of POP. 2. If they stayed in doors and faced the service they were sent to do, may be it may not have happened 3. The policemen, officers empowered by Law stopped you, but you refused to obey the officers of the law. Are you guys criminals? Why didn't you stop? 4. Would this have happened in America? Yes it could have happened. Even unarmed blacks are shot by policeman, talk less of people who were stopped and refused to accede. 5. Was the officer that shit overzealous? Yes he was. But judging by the volatility of northern Nigeria today, they could have been mistook as criminals running from officers.
My conclusion.
If they stayed indoors and faced what they're sent to do, this could have been avoided If they had stopped, this could also have been avoided.
The officer may go Scot free, on the basis of security situation in the country.
We need to be careful ourselves |
Crime › Governors Absent As Osinbajo Endorses State Police by abiola883(op): 12:30pm On Feb 09, 2018 |
None of the 36 governors was in attendance at a security summit yesterday as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo explained why Nigeria is ripe for state police.
The inability of governors, as state chief security officers, to commandeer police forces has always been on the front burner of complaints about defects in the nation’s structure.
Present, however, were the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Tukur Buratai, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ekwe, among others.
“We cannot realistically police a country the size of Nigeria centrally from Abuja. State police and other community policing methods are clearly the way to go,” Osinbajo told participants at the two-day National Security Summit organised by the Senate.
Highlighting the country’s “complex” security challenges, the vice president noted: “Securing Nigeria’s over 900,000 square kilometres and its 180 million people requires far more men and material than we have at the moment. It also requires a continuous re-engineering of our security architecture and strategy. This has to be a dynamic process.
“For a country our size, meeting the one policeman to 400 persons ratio prescribed by the UN would require triple our current police force, far more funding of the police force and far more funding of our military and other security agencies.”
Osinbajo who declared the summit open also stressed the need to boost collaboration with Nigeria’s neighbours in the Chad Basin by strengthening security at border communities, thus preventing the movement of small arms, and facilitating the disarming of armed pastoralists and other bandits.
“We must avoid the danger,” he said, of the security challenges spiraling into religious or ethnic conflict.
On the controversial issue of allocating land to herdsmen, the vice president said: “Let me reiterate that on no account will any land be seized or forciblly taken to create ranches or grazing areas. All insinuations to that effect should be disregarded. Instead, it is in our view that states that are willing should cooperate even with willing investors for commercially viable government-supported ranches or livestock production centres for commercial use.”
The summit came at a time of nationwide concern about insecurity, amid deadly clashes between herdsmen and farmers, kidnappings, armed robbery, ethnic agitations and militancy.
“This is not a summit to trade blame; in no way is this a blame game. Neither is it convened so that any person or entity can take credit. We just want solutions. Solutions only. That is all Nigerians require of us,” declared Senate President Bukola Saraki.
According to him, “There can be no denying the horrific reality in many parts of our country today. People who should be neighbours are turning on one another and taking up arms. These attacks and reprisal attacks are an intolerable cycle of hell that must be broken. Killings, kidnappings, mayhem and general lawlessness cannot be the new normal. We must take this country back and restore order.”
Saraki was, however, cautious about what it would take to rescue the nation from the brinks of insecurity.
“We have the capacity to bring about a change in this situation, to end the violence and bring succour. We have the capacity. But do we have the political will? I dare say political will is what is required. And it is my hope that we shall marshal it as a legitimate instrument against this problem. Indeed, there is no reason why that should not be the case,” he said.
What Nigeria needs at this time “is leadership that will work, to douse the flames and reduce tension in the land,” Saraki said, adding: “It is essential that we lower the barriers in our actions and rhetoric and refrain from playing politics with a crisis situation in which Nigerian lives are being lost tragically and needlessly on a regular basis.” |

I've you forgotten so soon the law of contract expecially the offer and acceptance? It means it's an offer which recongnises ur part to accept. Mind you if you reject it then no contract at all, so why claiming its evil? If you're not offered what you desired why not try other institutions and move on? See, I'm a graduate of the said university and I'm holding my position tight on this. Finally, I'll be glad if you can tell US an incorruptible institution in our country? Christianity Etc › Re: RCCG "Open Heaven": Daddy Freeze Reacts To Ban On Unauthorized Publication by abiola883: 12:30am On Jan 09, 2018 |
I believe you can reason deeper than this shadow minded thoughts. I know you understand me. Flets: Now this is the crux of the matter, There is no Christianity without love. Infact, the bible clearly stated that the greatest of all the commandment is love. Gideons international share free bible, Jehovah witness issue monthly publications free of charge, churches all over the west contribute immensely towards free outreach in Africa.
The problem the Nigerian churches face today is the absence of love in the practice of Christianity. Jesus died because of love, almost all the miracles by Jesus in the bible were borne out of love.
The early missionaries who brought Christianity went through untold hardship and death in the hand of malaria, many diseases and boat mishaps.... yet they were determined to bring us the gospel with the accompanying free schools, medical care, technology etc.
Unfortunately, what we have in Nigerian churches is greed, envy, hate and gross materialism. How can churches sit back and watch the multi-suffering of its members and yet seek to take away their money in the name of offering, tithe, first fruit etc? Tithing in the old testament was borne out of love "so that there will be meat in the house".... for everyone. In the absence of love, any teaching on giving is useless.
Infact, the state of our society is the reflection of the state of the church. The alarming lack of love is the major difference between the western and African society. That nature of our politics, economy, security etc is lack of love. If the church which should be the biblical lamp is hiding its love under the bushel...... how exactly do they intend to project Christ. Unfortunately, the Nigerian church spends more time defending its unloving practices than draw men to Christ.
Freeze will continue to win until the Church retraces its step back to Love because Love is the greatest. Without Love, Christianity cannot survive. Without Love, our fore fathers would never have left their traditional practices for Christianity. |

[q uote author=ourchoice post=61658814]We need to abolish state of origin in Nigeria and look at the possibility of making it compulsory for every Nigerian parent to give their child 3 names which must include names from the 3 major Nigerian tribes; Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba. Also, we need to look at the possibility of making Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba languages a compulsory subject in all Nigerian schools starting from primary school to foster unity and curb tribal division. Restructuring option 1 suggestion from me: Nigeria will be restructured using the existing 6 geopolitical zones: Northeast Northwest North central Southeast Southwest Southsouth Each geopolitical zone will have a prime minister, and then we will have a federal government council to be made up of the prime ministers from each geopolitical zone. They will rule for 6 years single term and each prime minister will be the head of federal government for 12 months.....it will rotated among them for the 6 years. The head of FG will act as the Nigerian president for the 12 months. Each state will keep 50% of their revenue from their state and return 50% to FG. Additionally, states with natural resources like crude oil, gold, tin, etc will be required to remit another 10% of the revenue from their resources which will be used to help poor states with no mineral resources and low revenue so they can catch up developmentally. Restructuring Option2 suggestion: Presidential system remains as it is now. Each state will manage their resources and keep 50% of revenue from their state and return 50% to FG. Additionally, states with natural mineral resources like crude oil, gold, tin, etc will be required to remit another 10% of the revenue from their resources which will be used as support allocation to help poor states with no mineral resources and low revenue so they can catch up developmentally. Like this, all states and regions will develop at their own pace. Each state will have their State Police for proper state policing. The aim of restructuring will be to make governance in Nigeria much easier and to take it to the grassroots and not to enrich states with abundant mineral resources. We really need a youth driven party to foster development in Nigeria now. We have no other option. We need to start now to prepare ahead before Nigeria is destroyed further by the present and past politicians that have been ruining this nation and making our youths leave Nigeria in mass as if there is war [/quote]This is good but we need to think well about this. I thing a WhatsApp group or telegram will be good. Telegram 2ill accommodate more. |

The court has ruled that the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by billionaire kidnapper Evans can proceed. Evans initiated a suit against the Police over infringement on his fundamental rights before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. The Police argued that the suit was not ripe for hearing since the Inspector-General of Police and the commissioner have not been personally served
Billionaire kidnapper Evans has won the first round of his court battle as the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday, August 16 ruled that the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by him can proceed.
The objections of the Lagos state Police Commissioner and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad was dismissed by Justice Abdulaziz Anka who agreed with counsel to Evans, Olukoya Ogungbeje, that service on the first and second respondents had been properly effected.
In the case against Evans, the first and second respondents are the inspector general of Police and the Nigeria Police Force while other respondents are the Lagos state Police Commissioner and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Punch reports.
Justice Anka in his ruling said that Order 4 Rule 5 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules of 2009 enjoins the court to pursue speed and justice on issues of fundamental human rights.
It was reported that counsel to the police Mr Eze argued that the suit was not ripe for hearing since the Inspector-General of Police and the commissioner have not been personally served.
In countering Eze’s argument, Ogungbeje insisted that Order 5 Rule 2 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules of 2009, gives him the opportunity to the agents of the respondent. |
