Abacha is truly a legend in the Nigerian Army. You might want to disagree with me based on the massive lootings he did when he was still the Military Head of State. I can understand your cynicisms against this late General but there is something special about him that you might not know about. Even with all the human rights abuses and violations withnessed during his era as the Military Head of State, there is so something he achieved that is worthy of note. General Sani Abacha GCFR was a Nigerian Military general, and dictator who served as the military head of state of Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1988. He was also Chief of Army Staff between 1990 to 1993. Abacha was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1963 after he attended the Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot, England. Before then, he had attended the Nigerian Military Training College in Kaduna. In 1969, he fought during the Nigerian-Biafra war as a platoon and battalion commander. And later became commander of the 2nd Infantry Division in 1975. In 1983, Abacha was general officer commander of the 2nd Mechanised Division and was appointed a member of the supreme Military Council. In 1993, he did what was thought impossible in the Nigerian Army. Late General Sani Abacha became the first Nigerian Soldier to attain the rank of a full military general without skipping a single rank. This was how he achieved this unusual feat in the Army. 1963- Second Lieutenant (Commissioned) 1966- Lieutenant 1967- Captain 1969- Major 1972- Lieutenant Colonel 1975- Colonel 1980- Brigadier General 1983- Major General 1987- Lieutenant General 1993- General The above statistics shows the years and the ranks Sani Abacha achieved before he got to a General without skipping a single rank. That's very rare to find in the Nigerian Army especially during the coup and counter coup era. He is truly a legend even in his death. This feat he achieved in the Army will surely stand him out from other Generals in Nigeria. https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/4dc2d584c9104186ad201076d4d32400

Yoruba One Voice (YOV) has advised the Nigerian government to allow a referendum. The body said this would afford Nigerians the opportunity to agree on laws and policies that should be continued or discarded. YOV Secretary-General, Sina Okanlomo, spoke in South Africa after a rally on the state of Nigeria. Okanlomo disclosed that letters had been sent to the United Nation, European Union, United States, African Union and embassies, on “peaceful decoupling of the Yoruba territory from Nigeria”. The scribe declared that it was in the interest of the South-West region and indigenes in other states to exit “the current political format” due to age-long challenges. “We are entitled to our rights. There is an urgent need for a referendum for us to know the basis for our existence. The rallies came as the best alternative because Yorubas in the Diaspora strongly owe our allegiance to Oodua Republic. “The Yoruba are tired of this system. A country where the security situation is porous; where a governor was attacked severally even with an array of security operatives. A country where citizens cannot hold peaceful rallies. “A country ravaged by nepotism, bigotry, unemployment, infrastructure deficit, killings, banditry, terrorism, and economic doom. A country where there is no fund in the national treasury and citizens subjected to poverty.” Okanlomo, however, expressed appreciation to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for joining YOV rallies worldwide. He also commended the South-East people for supporting the Biafra agitation and observing IPOB’s sit-at-home directive. https://www.nigerianeye.com/2020/10/state-of-nigeria-yoruba-group-demands.html
